Wow. That saddens me. If you keep it I think she'll be worth more money down the road.

Yeah that makes me sad too Ben. I agree with Brian, unless you just need to let it go you should keep it until it's worth more.

Let me know how much you're looking to get for it if you do sell it.

Same here, in fact, just make a thread in the Mod forum, we'll keep it in the family. That would make a sweet first car for my son Dylan.

Mention it to Christine. She's always after something like that and I doubt her 300zx search has been going well.

Mornin' gents.

Weather has been great the past few days around here. Got a ton of work done around the house and on the Miata.

BTW, who needs a low profile jack when you have one of these?

Image

The kid loves the Miata too. I took her for a ride around the neighborhood Saturday evening and she had an absolute blast.

She tells me all the time that she thinks it should be pink. :chuckle:

Thanks. She's definitely already getting into cars a lot, much to my surprise. She still loves all the girly things too, but she loves being right there with me whenever i'm working on cars and she loves the Miata.

I may end up having to build her one, or if this one lasts long enough pass it on to her.

For now though, she's been enjoying the heck out of this thing:
Image

She learned how to kick it in high gear last night. Of course I tried to put it in high gear twice and she thought it was too fast, then not even 5 min later she's kicking it in high gear and lapping the other kids in theirs.

Can I enlist the help of my fellow learned'ders?

Gotta bring the "humor" for my management meeting tomorrow and I've got nothing. Anyone got something work appropriate that's worth a guffaw? It could even be a youtube video or something like that.

Most of my usual repertoir is a little too dry or abstract to be quick and simple.
Well, either that or I'm not funny. Yeah, that might also be it.

Woohoo! Found a bitchin' deal on a John Deere LT150 with a 42" deck. Hopefully its every bit as nice as the ad says it is and I'll be mowing my own damn lawn, beer in jerry-rigged cup holder this season. It also has a dump bin. For...more beer.

Nice Ray! I just tuned my up last week and mowed the lawn with it. Still running like a top this year.

So I just ran across this CL: http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/4424540388.html

I really wish I had somewhere to store the whole car, because $500 is well worth all of the parts I could rob for that thing. My neighbors would have a conniption if I sat that in our driveway even for a month though. I'm gonna try to rob a few parts from it since he's parting it out though.

Maintenance keeps all the toys running!

OOPH! Man, that thing had a hell of an accident. Ask what happened to the car.

Make sure to snag the battery, tires, and top for it! Hell, really, just buy the whole freggin' car. Thats a true bargain for what you'll keep out of it and if you strip it quickly enough, it won't even sit in the driveway that long. It takes about 3 hours to pull the engine and trans as a unit and another 2 to drop the PPF and rear sub frame- and thats including beer breaks. Have some scrapper come by for the shell and make $250 back.

But, if you decide that buying parts is somehow more cost effective, check to see if it has Clearwater speakers in the head rest, too.
If it has a good shift boot, could you pull that for me? Mine is in tatters.

I'll let you know what I find out Ray. It's been a few hours and no response yet, so it may not even be available anymore. It was posted a week ago and that's a steal for a whole Miata parts car. If he still has it, i'm gonna try to grab everything I can because bringing it home just isn't reasonable unfortunately. It would cost me around $200 to get it towed home alone and that's with a discounted rate through the company we use here at work.

It's a hell of a deal for sure, but I really don't have the space, tools, or time to maximize the investment and turn a profit from it.

I'm going to look at some engine parts sometime this week too though, from one of the owners in the local Miata club. I'll see if he has a shift boot laying around.

There's also a complete 1.6L FM Turbo kit on CL right now for $2,000 obo. That's quiet tempting too, but I definitely don't have the money for that.

Thats a steal of a deal on the turbo kit, too. Thats a little more cash that can be better spent in other places though.

$200 towing distance definitely makes it unprofitable. But, you could scrap the shell for that and make it a $500 car again. I just like having back up pars in boxes if needed. Beats running to the parts stores and guessing what is wrong while you're spending money. Can't wait for the day I can put the Miata on classic insurance and have my parts insured, too.

The lawnmower man called back, going to see that bad boy today and hopefully to buy it! Yeehaw.

Yeah plus if I buy the turbo James has waiting for me, it'll be a lot cheaper than that kit I believe. I'm not in a rush for boost anyways. I want to get everything else sorted first.

That's why i'm going to look at these extra parts sometime this week locally. He's got bins full of 1.6L parts and he pretty much said to come look, pick what I need and make him an offer. Anytime I see stuff cheap that I can stockpile for any of the cars, I grab it and throw it in a container to store until I need it.

Woohoo! Awesome man.

Morning fellas!

Bought it!
Image

LT160. Battery and starter are a year old, blades are a year old, runs extremely well. Rear tires are showing some age, but whatever, I'll replace them when the time comes. Has 650-ish hours on it. An old lady owned it and a son in his 50's maintained it. Why can't I find cars like this?! For $450, I couldn't pass it up and paid full asking price since it was more than fair. He even offered to deliver it to my house today. Shazzam.

Must be getting old. My back hurts today and I'm excited about a lawn mower...

I wouldn't replace those tires at all unless they go bald. Mine look like hell from dry rotting, but just slap some slime or something in them and they'll be fine. It's a lawn mower, not a car so until they start coming apart it's not worth worrying about.

It looks damn nice though Ray. Seems like you got a great deal!
