If anyone got a random invite to like a Brewery in Norfolk, VA it was me.

The craft industry here is blowing up, and we are kinda becoming the city favorite so. We are about to go from 5000bbls a year to 18,000bbls a year. I haven't had much time to spend on NICO as I would like but Brewing and a baby take up most of the time. Hopefully this summer I can make it to some nicofest stuff.

I Miss the community. peace, catch you on the flipside.

By the way, there is a 14.x version out now, it's called "trusty"
I've thought about trying xfce or Gnome. For some reason, despite growing up largely around Win95+, I have trouble adapting to a bottom-placed taskbar in Linux, so xfce would probably be an awkward adjustment. Gnome bothers me for going to the other extreme. I DESPISE the smartphone-like app-chooser setup (even on smartphones). An endless spread of poorly sorted, uncategorized pages of shorctuts is about as efficient as commuting to work in a diesel locomotive.

I nearly upgraded to trusty a couple weeks ago but decided to wait until it's out of beta.

Awesome!
Is that kind of increase in volume going to affect your brewing methods?

Morning!

I have been on a new diet for the last 4 days restricting me to only 2050 calories max per day, and no meat for breakfast or lunch... and no red meat at all. I kinda feel bitchy all day, so I've been eating alot of fruit. Bananas, apples, pears... Man, I wish there was an easier way to do this. SO far I have learned that bread has a sh*t load of calories and that fish tastes like heaven when you wait all day. (I don't even really like fish all that much) I am looking forward to the 70 pounds loss my doctor says I should have within 6 months to a year...

Damn Dave! 70lbs? I didn't realize you were so overweight? 2050 cals a day isn't really all that bad. Counting calories is tedious, but it definitely gives you a real good understanding of where the empty cals come from. Like soda and other crap like that.

My wife has Diverticulitis, so she can't eat a lot of things anymore either, like red meat. Which means I don't eat them either.

I eat a lot of apples and bananas too. One thing I noticed when I ramped up my fruit and vege intake was how much more I crap!

I love fish and pretty much all other seafood, so losing red meat isn't really killing me. I use ground chicken in place of burger. Works pretty well.

Are you doing any aerobic exercise? Burning calories lets you cheat your diet. Earning your cheesecake and beers before hand makes the item you're earning so much better too.

Yeah, I'm a fat-a** lol. But I don't show it, the men in my fam tend to have a greater mass than we look. Something about my 8" diameter wrist bones or whatnot... As far as crapping goes, I did at first, but not so much anymore. I'm efficient now! :gapteeth:

One of the main reasons I am on this diet is because of having too high blood pressure, so aerobic exercise is not on the menu at this point. When I get it down about 10 points, then I'm gonna get on that bandwagon. I have an elliptical for use during the winter months, but I am just in too poor health from being sick all winter that it can't be done right now. Small steps... The only reason 70 lbs is the idea is because i want to get back to what I had before college. I was a lot smaller then, but my ideal BMI should put me down much further than that and I am taking the bone thing into consideration with all that.

Best of luck bro, I have never been successful with any diet. My beer intake just ruins any attempt at a diet, so I rarely even try.

The hollandaise turned out a little thinner than I'd have liked, but was still delicious!

I cheated yesterday anyway, I couldn't help it! I went over by about 1000 calories, lol. Oh well. Today I'm feeling a little light-headed from all that merriment and exercise from running around.

Chris, my friend here make the best damn holladaise I've ever tasted. It makes it a real treat when I crash at his house after a party or something, cause it always happens that we get to have some! Is yours an orangy sauce or do you stick to the natural flavored kind?

I stick to a very basic natural-flavored sauce. Just egg yolks, lemon juice, butter, and a little tobasco. Unlike a lot of recipies, mine uses salted butter and in exchange I do NOT add salt "to taste" and it has always worked great.
The problem I have is that my double-boiler is a little too big for any less than a 4-yolk hollandaise, so I either waste hollandaise or need to have guests to feed.

"Double boiler"?

We just use a standard saucepan...

It's basically just a saucepan on top of a saucepan. Boil water in the bottom pan, cook your sauce in the top. It's a more indirect heating method that helps prevent overcooking the sauce. In this case, it helps keep from scrambling the yolks.

Also useful for things like melting chocolate without burning it.

Cool. I should get one, cause keeping the heat low now is a complicated mess of putting on and pulling off the pan from the heat.

Does anyone remember when Nissan OEM wheels DIDN'T look like s***?

I miss the days of this kind of awesome:

How did Z31 and max wheels make it into that mix? Ugh. R32 wheels should have been there instead, perhaps?

I totally concur. I have a set of my old R32 wheels in the garage waiting for some new rubber so I can unass the stockers from my S14. Course, even my 5 lug S14 wheels are better than the Z31 and Maxima wheels.

I've always liked the sawtooths for some reason. And the 9-spoke Max wheels may just be a nostalgia thing for me.

R32 wheels are definitely hot.

How about these babies?!

I don't know about those either... many of the old-school 4-luggers had some pretty gnarly patterns in them. Let me see if I can find some I approve of?

Edit: lol, I missed that last bit.
