Although I wouldn't go see Metallica unless it was via time travel. They suck now and have sucked since oh...93? I saw them live when they still drank enough alcohol to kill an entire herd of cows. THAT was good Metallica...
I honestly feel the same about them these days. I still enjoy their older stuff, but I don't care for anything newer.

If I were to go see a live concert right now, it would probably be The Black Keys or Halestorm. Halestorm kicks a**, but i'm not really much of a concert guy anyways.

I'm taking my wife to The Sing Off(some singing TV show she loves) live tour in March. I'm definitely going for the show i'll receive afterward :naughty:

Its rumored that there is a cooler on stage with plenty of beer in it and a jar of moonshine during his shows.

We have a radio station that plays Mandatory Metallica at 8pm every night. Its pretty fantastic. That, and the House of Hair on Saturdays.
I just can't do country. I can still enjoy older country from time to time, but on a daily basis absolutely not. Luke Bryan will never be in my music collection. I just can't appreciate anything these newer country artists put out, because it's a joke these days. Even with free booze.

I rarely turn on the radio here, but our rock station is pretty awesome. I usually always hear something I like when I turn it on. They have a metal night and a Mandantory Metallica as well.

99% of the time though, if i'm listening to music it's from my own playlist. I keep about 300-400 MP3's on my phone at all times, so I rarely run out of music.

I had never heard of the "Black Keys"...so I just youtubed them. Not sure I have a lot in common with R1, but I agree with him on these toolbags. Self castration might be more enjoyable.

Hey, Luke Byron certainly does not translate to man card forfeiture, but I suppose it might fray the card's edges. ;)

I've got you're back with the Black Keys. I'm a big fan. I like alternative/indie in general, I just don't dress the part (or have the snooty attitude, LOL)

Also the seller is a tard. He has it listed as both a 280zx and a 200zx. It is neither. It's a 280z. And it's a 2+2. No, thanks. 2+2 Zs have never looked right.

Yeah I never have been a huge fan of the 2+2 either. With the right stuff, it can look decent but I still don't think i'd go for one unless it was a steal.

Completely agreed. I'm not really a fan of ANY kind of add-on fender flares. Either build the bodywork to house your tires or GTFO. There's nowhere I hate fender flares more than on pickups, though. It just tells me that pep-boys didn't have the right offset in stock when you bought your cheapass American Racing wheels for your bromachine.

This is how you fit more rubber under your car:

Definitely not this (seriously...this F150 makes me want to hurk into the nearest trashcan):

Or this:

The worst thing is that truckmakers are starting to follow the Pontiac/Toyota school of styling and use plastic add-ons for even the most subtle factory "styling." The Tacoma is a very serious offender. The flares that you can't not get on anything above a base model are tacked-on plastic and Toyota doesn't even bother to add body color rubber seals between them and the metal bodywork!!!! It looks TERRIBLE on light color models:
Image
Look at that hideous black strip of cheapass rubber running along the seam of the cheapass flares on that cheapass bodywork. They can't paint it body color? They can't MOLD it body color? Just plain black rubber? Fail, Toyota.

Replaced the cabin air filter in the LS8 for the first time since I've owned it--and, by the look of the old filter, possibly the first time since the car was built. In doing so I discovered that the LS has a factory cross-brace between the strut towers. Tubular, anchored at the rear of the towers (basically centered over the engine). The cowl trim anchors to it, and when I removed the cowl trim to get to the cabin filter I realized it's more than just a bunch of plastic trim...it's hollow tube, but probably still provides some torsional reinforcement for the front end.

Adam messaged me on facebook a few weeks ago looking for them. I felt dirty trying to find them for him.

By far, this is one of the best methods I have ever seen for doing fender flares properly. I plan on that for the rear of the vert, but with how thin the front metal is, I might not be able to do something similar. I've considered looking at straight up wide body kits, but they rarely blend well.

Morning fellas.
Have a question to you home owner types about water heaters.
I was trying to get a little more than 10-15 minutes of hot water from my shower, mainly to fill the tub. However, the water goes tepid after about that much time.

I went down to the water heater and messed with the knob. The only markings are "Hot" "Warm" and "Vacation," in that order. Originally the dial was set between hot and warm, leaning more towards warm. I figured that turning it closer to hot would make it last longer, but honestly, it just makes the water scalding regardless of how much comes out of the tap and requires blending of cold water. If I go the other way towards warm, the hot water barely lasts. I haven't gone between Warm and Vacation, mostly because that isn't logical to me.

My question is- are they all this finicky and theres a happy middle ground somewhere?

Your thermostat doesn't have temp markings? That is all kinds of BS right there.

I keep mine at 125, any higher and the electric bill will rise markedly. I have a huge hot water heater, so I never run out.

Just thinking out loud here but, if your hot water is coming out wicked hot and requires you to increase the flow of cold water, doesn't that keep your water heater from becoming depleted as fast?

Ray - Mine is not quite that finicky but it can be at times. I have mine turned all the way up and just mess with the hot and cold until it's right. We still can't take a shower back to back in our house though without running out of hot water. I can't even scrub a normal load of dishes without running out of hot water most of the time.

If we were going to stay in this house, i'd drop the $400-500 on one of those waterless hot water heaters. They're awesome. You're supposed to always have instant hot water and never run out, but it also only takes up like 15% of the space that a normal one does because it just mounts on the wall. No tank to worry about exploding or dealing with taking up space.

Brian - It's pretty cold here this morning. It's supposed to be back in negative temps again tonight. Kinda annoying, because all the snow that melted is all ice now. Our parking lot is like an ice skating ring here at the office. I was just out driving the Miata yesterday afternoon without a coat.

Ray, sounds like a heating element may be going bad in your water heater. They're not too horrifically expensive, so you might want to consider replacing it.

I want to build one of these.

No markings what-so-ever.

Brian, I'd agree with your idea, but I'm worried about the gas bill being impacted like crazy since the tank has to be heated all of the time to maintain that hot water 'on tap.' If that isn't how water heaters work, please correct me because I really don't know. I'm also wondering if the cold is what is making us really notice the difference in temp as the hot water falls off.

Those waterless heaters are pretty awesome. They're what hotels and resorts use. Makes loads of sense given the financials.

The recommended setting for a water is 120* iirc. Higher than that and your utility bill will rise unnessasrily. Gas heaters own electric btw, so ur good there. Those on-demand water heaters are the s*** btw. I helped a dude install one a few years back. Couldn't believe how well it worked.

Chris, I seen you were drivin the Miata yesterday, I was totally jealous.

I was grinning the whole time dude. I finally got it registered and tagged last week, so it's the first time i've been able to drive it any further than around the city. I went and took over an hour cruise in it through the back roads.

I was planning on driving it to work tomorrow, but with the temps being low again I think i'll just leave it at home. Performance tires + ice and really cold weather probably aren't a good mix.

Normally I would agree that you've got a recipe for a quick trip to backwardland. However, when you have a wheelbase that's shorter than my flaccid Johnson and you've got less torque on tap than Jamba Juice counter, its hard to get yourself into TOO much trouble. :gapteeth:

In other words: drive the damn Miata.
