Just helped a nearby friend haul a weight bench to his place and by that reason I am finding the truck to be useful, finally. It better be for only getting 18mpg combined from a goddamn 4 cylinder.

Wow 18 is awful! You planning on troubleshooting that? Do you have a wideband O2 meter by chance?

yeah that's pretty awful. its it carb'd or FI? because if its FI that's really horrible. My truck easily got over 24 mpg's.

Also is it auto or 5speed?

Yea, that's about what my old 6.5 Chevy Diesel gets. There is something wrong there.

Its an auto with the Z24 motor in it, so I believe it's a TBI engine. It has about 192K on it as well. And yes, it seriously gets only 18 combined. I don't know where to start with the issue, honestly. I've never had good luck with diagnosing mileage trouble, I just always feel like I have to throw parts at the problem and end up wasting more money than just on the gas...

I thought the Z24's had one of those emmision cars with a million vac lines? I've only seen one, and it was 15 years ago in HS, so I could be wrong.

Yerp... stock z24 vacuum setup is redic.

I swapped mine to a weber and have like 3 lines left and one I don't really need, but still have it on for good measure.

Also the z24 has 8 spark plugs, like that was the saving grace of economy.

I'd start by replacing all vacuum lines one by one until its done. if its anything like the kae which I am sure it is. then start will idle air control valve and see what condition its in, and reset it to factory. Some people mess with those like its the thing that fixes any problem with idle but usually just F the ratio. after that or before do a compression test. super easy to do considering you have access to spark on both sides of the head. just remove waste spark plugs on that test, stock I think intake side is intial spark and exhaust side is waste, but I think it might be as easy as swapping the one wire off one coil and putting it on the other one to switch which side sparks first.

Definitely make sure plugs are properly gapped. after all that it should be easy to diagnose why.

Just for clarification, it's a TBI setup: not carb, not exactly fuel injected either so yeah...

Air filter is still OK. Some idiot who owned it drilled holes in the cover tho. Will be getting a replacement when I can get out with some money. Bills have been sucking me dry as of late...

Afternoon guys! Hope everyone had a great new years.

I finally was able to dump my POS Samsung Galaxy Nexus yesterday and get a new phone. Normally I love Google branded stuff, but that phone really let me down after the first year. Constantly draining the battery and flaking out ALL the time no matter which ROM I was using or how stable it was.

I had been researching phones for months and had narrowed it down to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the iPhone 5S. I went to look yesterday though and the Note 3 had shot through the roof in price($350 for an uprade). Then I tried out the iPhone and I just couldn't talk myself into it. It was too small and it just didn't do anything for me. So I went and looked at everything else they had and narrowed it down between the Motorola Moto X and the LG G2. The G2 ended up winning by far though because I liked it right away. Plus it has phenomenal battery life, an excellent processor, and a 13MP camera so I jumped on it. So far i'm happy with the purchase.

Should be running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Got the Snapdragon 800 too. Bigger question is how much bloatware, and are you going to unlock it?

The GUI is surprisingly nice Dave. That's the other thing(aside from the price) that kept me away from Samsung. Touchwiz is still very cheesy and cheap looking IMHO.

LG's GUI is smooth, but has a lot of neat animations and hidden tricks that make it really easy to use, even with it being a large phone. One thing I like a lot is the "knock, knock" feature, which is where you double tap the screen and it will wake up the phone. It also has a sensor that will keep the screen always on(unless you put it to sleep manually) anytime it can see your face. They made a really nice, clean GUI without overdoing it.

Noel is right - it came with Android 4.2.2 on it with LG's GUI over it, but mine is already upgraded to 4.3 and 4.4(KitKat) is supposed to be dropping for it sometime this month. The Snapdragon 800 is really impressive too - 2.26ghz clock speed and the only thing that even compares to that speed right now is the Note 3(which is the same speed).

I do not intend to unlock it or root it at all. I've done that with my past two Android phones and both of them started having issues. I've had my Nexus 7 for 3 months and have left it completely stock, with absolutely no issues. So i'm going to leave this phone alone for once and not mess with it. It has a few bloatware apps, but it's not saturated with them and it has 32GB of space, so i'm not too worried about them. I have ways of removing the bloatware anyways without rooting it, so if they start causing performance problems i'll just do that.

Morning Ben.
Any major snow for you?

Had to dig a goddamned 15" this morning. Then I hit a curb hooning the Subaru around a parking lot and popped the tire off the wheel- whoops. $15 and a half hour later I had it remounted and was on my way!

Unlocking and rooting wouldn't cause problems of any sort unless you did something silly like delete files you shouldn't have. The only thing that causes stability issues like that are deleting system apps on the stock rom, flashing custom roms or kernel mods.

We got around 6" of powdery snow here in Philly. Fortunately my indentured serv...er son is still home on holiday break to help me shovel it. I guess we fared better than New England.

Not much snow here, but there's a blanket on the ground at least. It's quite cold for KY though - it was 5 degrees this morning and supposed be even colder on Monday.

AWD donuts would be a blast right now. Sadly I don't have anything AWD anymore though. I did consider getting the Miata out last night though, since there are a few places in the neighborhood to hoon a bit.

Oh I agree, it shouldn't at all. I just have had really bad luck every time i've rooted something, so I think i'm going to try leaving it alone for one.

I did have to run a lot of custom ROM's on my GNex because there were less developers making them for it as time went on. Trying to find something that was pure stock and a decent ROM was getting difficult. My phone would freak out on a daily basis no matter which ROM I was running. Who knows though? I could've done something wrong at some point. All I know is the phone was failing me in many ways in just over a year of owning it.

OUTSTANDING!
I have to start a new tally for my dog. She's a hardcore killer.
Cats, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, moles, mice. You name it, shes probably killed it and ate its entrails and brought the carcass somewhere convenient for me to find it and praise her for being a merciless beast.
