I'm in the same boat with you guys and the scents. Except I gave her 50 yards so she could run. That dog is a stone cold killer- bugs, rabbits, squirrels, birds, mice, cats, you name it she can and has killed it and showed it off proudly to you. She recently killed a rabbit and was tossing it around in the air, catching it, throwing it up in the air again and generally taking a blood bath/shower before eating it. Shes had a blood stained blonde coat lots of times.

She got a real bath after that one, but not before I took her for a walk around the block to show off her badassery to the neighbors.

We joke that we keep feeding her so she doesn't decide to rip out our tracheas while we sleep at night.

If you see some horns from a buick or other 90's GM car that might be incredibly loud, pull those. They're cheaper.
Haha! I meant horns as in the parts on either side that bolt to the frame, not the beeping kind.

I found one yesterday afternoon at the junker! It was off an '89 and only just shy of $70. I had to go to Hawkins Point to get it, however. That's quite a drive for me, but we only walked 20 yards in and found it right away. I strapped that sucker to the roof of the Sentra and rolled all the way down route 29 with it during rush hour. We turned quite a few heads.

Congrats Dave. Even driving for it, you found a toughie.

Mornin' Ben.

Any idea what this guys issue is?
1990-stanza-clutch-problem-t581290.html

It sounds to me like he has a leak or a bad seal somewhere in his hydraulic lines.

I was curious, too. I've never had the issue, but was interested in finding out what to do in that situation. It was kinda selfish... :)

I found a seized actuator on my LR e-brake this morning and a seized cable on the RR side. UGH this thing will never be ready.

I got a cable from the junkyard from the same truck the bumper came off of for only $16. I dropped the shoes on the sidewalk this morning also and had to get a pair from the yard as well because they exploded into dust. I hate this stuff.

Morning folks.
Everyone have a good weekend?

I blew a brake line in the Firebird. Heard an audible "POP" and then the pedal went to the floor. I'll have to jack it up and see if it blew a hard line or a soft line. (crossing fingers for soft). The line blew in front of a KFC and we were very hungry- on our way to a BBQ restaurant. Figured since we had to wait, we'd "settle" for KFC. Settle is an understatement. KFC is freggin' delicious.

Also, Haggerty Roadside Assistance is the s***.

Mornin' guys!

Not a bad weekend at all here. Got a ton of stuff done to the Miata. Replaced the plugs and wires since the plugs were nasty. It also had crappy Bosch platinums in it so I threw the OE recommended NGK's back in it. Fixed the rear window in the convertible top with a thin sheet of plexiglass so I can drive it in cold and rainy weather now. Looks absolutely excellent too.

I also had to order the stupid rubber water plug for the back of the engine to replace. It's leaking, so it's spraying out coolant here and there. Thanks to miata.net though it doesn't look like it's too bad to replace. I noticed it's leaking oil from the front though, so I guess the front seal must be leaking on it. I was planning doing the timing belt anyways since I don't know when it was done last, so I would've already needed to do the front seal.

Ray I saw the pic on the Firebird on FB. That stinks that it blew, but at least it blew near good food.

I've never had to so much as look at the cursed water plug. It doesn't look too impossible to get at. My RMS leaks, the front might too. Haven't bothered with the timing belt since is a non-interference engine. Though, three things would make me replace it- the timing belt would have to break, the water pump would have to start failing, or if I get to 200k. It'll probably be the latter.

The car was a hoot to drive this morning at 40 degrees. The turbo went WOOOOOOSH! and embarrassed some guy in a Challenger. :woot:

Well if it's a non-interference engine, then I may not worry quite as much about it. I'll probably still do it at some point before I make any long hauls in it because it's supposed to be done every 60k according to the service manual. It has 156k on it.

The leaks don't bother me much right now, other than leaking on my garage floor. The reason I went ahead and ordered the plug is because it's $11/gal for antifreeze and the plug was $6 so I figured it was worth it to stop the leak rather than keep adding antifreeze every few days.

Mornings like this make me miss my turbo RX7. It was an absolute blast on cold days to drive.

The Sentra died today. Good fu*king riddance. Cylinder #3 started knocking out of nowhere, checked the oil and I ran it dry somehow...

2 quarts brought the level back up to the top somehow also...? I'm confused and don't care anymore. I want to drive this damn thing off a cliff.

Sorry to hear Dave...

Also sorry I never made it out to DC for beers when I was over that way, now I'm up in PA and moving out to Ohio. I kept on saying to myself, need to get in touch with Dave and have copious amounts of drink. FAIL.

It's been a weird couple of weeks anyway Brian, nothing has gone as it was planned here. The knocking noise on cylinder 3 is more of a clearly audible metallic "ding" noise now and it only happens when the cylinder ignites. I managed to limp it home 20 miles from Gaithersburg on 3 cylinders after disconnecting the sparky and fuel injector, but man did it make a lot of noise...

Becky, it only has 110K on it. It was a Connecticut car most of it's life, so yeah...

MD tests the gas cap also.

I wish I knew what the ding noise is, I kinda need this thing for another week before the truck is ready...

Could be rod knock. I've never tried eliminating cylinder load by removing fuel/spark before, so I can't say for sure if the noise reduces when you do it.

The truck passed inspection. It needed new drums, the e-brake wouldn't hold because the old drums were out of spec. AT least the old red-painted mexican rice ones are gone now. It still cost too much... drums do NOT cost $50 a piece. :squint:

Thats a high cost for drums!

So what happened? Did you try to replace them, get mad, and then adjust the E-brake cable? Or did you actually get them off?
The original owner of my t/a painted the drums on my car red a long time ago. Surprisingly, the paint has held up very, very well. Weird thing is he never painted the front calipers...

Oddly enough, with as highly optioned as it is & even though its a WS6 car, the rear axle has drum brakes. A friend has a '91 that is the same way.

Last weekend I blew a brake line. Don't know if a hard line failed, a soft line that popped off a hard line (crossing fingers), or something else. I was going down a hill, heard a very audible "POP" and then the pedal went to the floor. Using the brakes felt like driving a NASCAR.
Anyway, the work for the winter will begin if I have to replace hard lines in the brake system.

The T/A will get a lot of attention this winter:
- Passenger side rust removed from wheel arch then the whole side to be prepped & painted.
- Front bumper refinished again (due to hit n run in a parking lot)
- Rear bumper refinished
- Wheel bearings all around
- Fix brake line

If I come across a disc brake rear end with a better gear ratio than a 2.73 I may just swap the entire rear end over.

What up folks!
Trying to get over my fear of heights by rock climbing. Our local gym had a Groupon that we've finally redeemed. The walls in that b**** are 65 feet tall!!!!! I'm going to be able to DOMINATE that wall at the fair this year for the $100 at the top.

Nah, they were the original rotors (!) and I had them ground by another shop. They had told me they were right on spec, but their equipment must be crap. They have been warned, but I won't get my money back. This is why you should never pay in cash, kiddies.

I replaced one ebrake cable because it was rusted frozen and adjusted it all the way out and it still didn't hold. I guess that should have been a sign right there, but I'm no mechanic I guess. Just a shade-tree jackoff, apparently. I hate brakes SO MUCH anyways, the real guys can have them. lol

You need to invest in one of these so your finger tendons don't get tired... 65 feet will take quite a while to climb unless you're an everyday climber.

I used to have one of those for playing the bass guitar. Tools & working on the car help, too.
