Why do the website descriptions hyphenate everything?

Hell Yeah! I have Silver package or something like that from a long while back, but I don't think it includes everything. Let me double check before I take your license.

Almost finished with the dash swap on the truck now! Just need to fix the damn horn and I'll be all set for inspections.

Man, this sh*t has been a long-as$ time coming. Dash swaps suck. Here's what the old one looked like:

And here's one with the dash out.

It's raining now so can't get pics of the new dash, but I will as soon as it stops...

Dang dude, you have an infinite amount more patience than I do! I could never do a dash swap. I have no doubt it would end with a flaming rag in the gas tank.

It almost did. I was cussing at the damn parking brake and the steering column for almost 3 hours doing this sh*t. I actually broke the combination switch when taking the old one out.

I'm told that D21 dashes are as easy as it gets for a dash replacement (only 10 screws and removal of the accessories), so chew on that. I wish I could put a tach in, but I don't know where to start since it's an auto...

No chewing required on this end. I'd start with the flaming rag to save my own sanity!

Were you trying to bondo the old one? That's actually a cool idea. I would have definitely gone that route before a replacement was attempted.

No, the old one had a piece of stage carpeting glued to it to cover up the apparent massive water damage it had. The stink of it was what I couldn't stand, not to mention the red and black "Thriller"-themed paint job the previous hispanic person had done to the panels...

Now it just looks normal, which is better for my work purposes. The audio wiring is in shambles, so that's a great excuse for an upgrade. Also, I will eventually get the red painted over on the door sill and edges at some point, but it's not that important.

Brian, I'll definitely take that spare license. I guess I never actually paid for any tiers on it, I just registered. Thanks man!!

Thanks! Also, do you have any advice on what to do about the tach? I'd love to have one... I have the manual harness from the SMJ to the cluster already. What else most likely do I need?

Also, the horn doesn't work, so I'm checking the line between the steering column and the horn relay for continuity, then the line from there to the horn units... How does one test a relay for operation? Hook up to 12V and see if it closes the contacts? Then check the other terminals on it for continuity?

I have continuity between everything that's supposed to have it, and the relay seems to check out: it has about 900 ohms between pins 3&2 and open for 2&1.
I guess the horns are busted, cause the steering wheel is touching the contact on the hub. Meh, the search goes on...

If it's vinyl padded, you can use silicone and a color coat flexible spray made for vinyl and carpet to some degree of success. Fill the cracks with silicone and let it dry then spray the whole dash.

Back in the 70's, An entrepreneur named Malcolm Bricklin introduced the Bricklin SV1 and was hyped as the "Safety Sports Car". It had a sleek shape with a built in rollcage but with big ugly shock absorbing bumpers. But the gimmick that really drew the oooo's and aaaaah's was the power gullwing doors. I drove one many years ago and was not overly impressed. Like a delorean (which came out years later) it looked better than it was. More of a car to be seen in than drive. the one I drove had a AMC V8 with an automatic, which I remembered stumbled badly when cold and clunked when shifted (like a typical AMC vehicle of the era).

They didn't build many of them so they are considered collectible.

That's Jackson Hole, about an hour east of where I live. Usually a few nice cars to be seen there.

Morning fellas.
Why didn't you get closer to the E-type?!

I was changing out the shocks on the soon-to-not-be-so-janky Miata yesterday and snapped the top hat (mounting) studs on the passenger rear. Couldn't finish the job! Then I proceeded to snap the two bolts holding the sway bar to the end link on the drivers rear. Can't win man. Still have to remove the broken stud. I keep telling myself the bushings were shot anyway...
Also removed a bolt that was over a foot long from the front upper A-arm in order to get enough motion to squeeze in the front shock.
Overall though, Miata suspension is quite easy to R&R.
FWIW 3/4 of the shocks were f***' shot.

Traffic. Traffictraffic. Both foot and vehicle types. I barely managed that shot of it between cars.
Also I was with my dad who was like "Yeah, my old 'vert was nicer" and wasn't quite as excited as I was. 'Cause he used to have a red convertible 3.8 liter E-type.

There are definitely photos, but I don't know where they are. I'll see if I can find one.

He said it was amazing to drive and so easy to work on. Two clips and the entire front body (hood) comes right off. Steering ratio was stupid-fast, brakes were powerful, it handled like a dream, and that 3.8 liter DOHC straight six sounded like a singing goddess.
