Welcome to everything that has a Toyota badge on it. Even my in-laws $40k Sienna is like that, with some suede inserts in the seats and some carbon fiber glued on to make the cool hipsters want to drive them. I despise what most new cars have become, especially from the Japanese.MinisterofDOOM wrote:I rode in a friend's 2007 Camry recently. I couldn't believe how CHEAP the thing felt inside. Outside it had the fancy-a** "sport" bodywork (glued-on plastic) and while it's not attractive, it doesn't look budgety. The interior, though? It reminded me of my dad's base-model 1997 Ram pickup. Hard-grey plastic EVERYWHERE. No HVAC vents for rear-seat passengers. The rear felt spartan and devoid of anything. Cheap grey cloth seats, cheap grey carpet, cheap grey door panels, and nothing more. Dunno why people love these cars so much. Probably because they've never been in anything else.
In the Maximas defense, the original owner beat the hell out of it. I'm surprised it's not in worse condition than it is. I have never seen so much neglect to the drivetrain of a vehicle, considering how great it looks inside and out.Jesda wrote:I own three cars that don't leak a drop of anything. It's a miracle because even the newer cars I've owned have dripped or dribbled some kind of fluid.
I think in return, God is going to cause one of them to have an electrical fire.
They also announced ANOTHER new iPad again today, along with the new iPad Mini. The great thing about a new iPad this soon: All of the current ones can be had as a refurb for $379frapjap wrote:Thats a nice deal.
My co worker is gloating (but pretending he hates) that he has an iphone 5 through the company.
When I changed my oil last, I found out that I have a small dent in my oil pan and it has some scuffsRazi wrote:Last time I was under my car I noticed my swaybar was scratched up, and my brace had a small dent.
Today I looked at it again and my crossmember has a small dent, and the oil pan has a scratch. D:<
I don't even know where this happened, I'm not even that low. I bet it was that stupid dead dog I ran over.
Sucks to be someone who bought the new iPad a few months ago (when it first released) and have Apple turn around an release the newer iPad shortly thereafter.4DSC wrote:They also announced ANOTHER new iPad again today, along with the new iPad Mini. that feel when your front sway bar has scrapes from being too lowRazi wrote:Last time I was under my car I noticed my swaybar was scratched up, and my brace had a small dent.

No my point was the iPad Mini DOESN'T make other manufacturers try harder. If the Nexus 7 32 GB is announced at $249 (which seems nearly a guarantee at this point), what does the mini have that justifies it being $180 more expensive for the same capacity? I'll agree it's a nice looking device, and aluminum/glass almost certainly trumps rubber-feel plastic. But $180 difference for that? Nope. At roughly the same price (say up to $50 more for the mini) I'd nearly call it a wash: better finish and more mature app store on the mini/cheaper price and better display on the 7. Where is the motivation for Android manufacturers to improve if that is their main competition?4DSC wrote:I agree with everything you just said. I think the iPad Mini is a missed mark - especially on pricing and specs, but as you said: It makes other manufacturers try harder.

Which is my beef. They entered the phone market and revolutionized it. I can't really debate that. Then they revolutionized the tablet market. Now, with Android (Nexus/Nook/Kindle) taking a firm hold of the smaller tablet market, they tried to get into it and absolutely failed at producing anything close to revolutionary.4DSC wrote:I don't really think that Apple wanted to make a smaller iPad, but people kept demanding it, so they made it to shut everyone up and to get into that market. It's definitely not their best effort.
$330 for 16 GB, not 6. Still not really that great of a price. And what does that do to their market for the iPod touch? Seems to cannibalize it a bit, no?MinisterofDOOM wrote:And the Mini's pricing is F@CKING RIDICULOUS. I thought maybe $300 for an 8GB model, but $330 for 6GB is insulting. What the HELL are you going to do with 6GB of flash memory? Store some RTF files?
Honestly, I don't think of my Nexus 7 as very pocketable, tbqh. My beef with the screen size is the pitiful resolution. 35% more screen area, 23% fewer pixels than the Nexus 7. Ouch.MinisterofDOOM wrote:Also, 7.9 inches is stupid. STUPID. It's like the opposite of a sweet-spot. It's too big to be pocketable but not so much bigger as to be WORTH not being pocketable. At 7.9 inches you might as well go for 10 inches.
