Do you carry it next to your coin purse so when you get a call/notification it vibrates the pills?

lol...So i finally started doing stuff with my phone, i got that launcher pro which is awesome sauce and got some more apps that would help and look cooler but my problem now is battery life...when i'm using the phone the battery seems to last much longer....when i'm not, which is often it dies quicker...i looked into settings and my display is taking up 60-70 percent of my battery life.

I run the display on 30 seconds before it times out and the brightness is set at the medium setting...i saw this app called setcpu but it's only for rooted phones that lets you control the under/over clocking of your cpu and i really wanna get it so i can underclock the damn sleep time so it won't waste my battery...is there anything your doing for your battery and what's the normal life on yours?

ya, battery life is horrid. no way around it, buy another battery maybe?

set the brightness even dimmer as default, it actually does save alot of battery. Also, NO ANIMATED WALLPAPERS! Zoinks those DESTROY Blife.

i also invested in a couple chargers for the cars i use and the desks i sit at daily. plug that ish in every chance i get.

get a task killer and just randomly kill everything, always helps too.

i've had an app killer from day one, regular wallpaper...i just did a test to see how long it would stay on if i never let it turn off and had everything running...it lasted about 3 1/2 hours...i really wanna root my phone...i saw one of roots that won't void the warranty, heard anything bad about rooting besides bricking?

what do you specifically want to root for? over/under clocking?

thats about the only advantage to rooting your N1. I'm a CSE and I dont trust OC'ing it. It alrdy gets pretty warm as is. And what kind of battery life changes are ppl getting that root and assign custom clock speeds? maybe an extra hour under light usage and i'm gona pull a number out of my a** like an extra 20mins of heavy usage. if that.

its a completely unnecessary risk in my book. the thing is worth way too much money to mess around with like that. working as intended imo.

i see what your saying and i'm right there with you but i'm assuming you use your phone throughout the day correct...i hardly use it...i probably use it maybe an hour total from the time i take it off the charger to putting it back on charge...i get about 15-16 hours out of it and most of the battery is killed from my display...now if i can underclock my cpu from the full 1 ghz to 200mhz or whatever the minimum is, i can probably make it last for 2 days without a charge...idk...just wanted to discuss some nexusy stuff with you cause your the only other person i know who has one.

faiz do you get the issue on ur device that the touchscreen gets thrown off by like half a touch screen?

for example, you touch an app shortcut and it hits ur soft keys? or you get no reaction?

and turning the screen on/off doesnt help, the device either has to just snap out of it, your if you lose patience (like me) you reboot the device?

i don't have any articles but from reading on the nexus one forum and seeing vids on youtubes on people who have the app "setcpu" it seems pretty obvious that running your phone to minimum when your not using it would save battery life.

i've noticed that yes adam...i check my settings often and when i'm using my phone more, the "display" use goes down considerably because i'm using other things such as the web, or the android os, apps, etc. and everything is usually around 2% when i'm not using it and display will be at like 90% which is just killing me because when i want to use my phone my battery is drained...i usually use it when i go out and i don't wanna leave it on the charger all day.

yea, gerry, that happens every now and then but i've noticed it happens if you haven't turned your device off for awhile...like if you just keep charging it when it gets low and never turn it off it happens...it hasn't happened to me since i've been letting the battery drain all the time which turns off the phone.

i was thinking about getting one of these batteries just in case for roadtrips or vacation.

http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/03/29/s ... -hands-on/
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/go ... -door.html

the only thing is they both ruin the phone aesthetically speaking of course.

Lou, I can just about make it a full day with my droid 2. But it gets pretty heavy usage...

Though, I have a charger in the car and at work. So if I am using it heavily there is always a way to bump the charge up a bit wherever I am.
