Nothing wrong with that. Woot is an excellent site as long as you don't get too wrapped up in it and start buying carp you don't need. Speaking of, who is buying 3 of the HP laptops on sale today? And why would anyone want a 17.3" 7.74 pound laptop? Doesn't that defeat the whole "portability" argument?

Haha I saw that stats on that and was like wtf? Only think I can think of is a small business that's buying new computers for their employees or something like that, but otherwise, I don't want that laptop in any way shape or form.

You pretty much have to keep something that size on a desk. So why not buy a desktop with the same features for cheaper? Or a better desktop for the same price? Either way the desktop should outlast the laptop since the operating conditions tend to be a bit safer on a desktop than a laptop (heat and air flow concerns with laptops).

Bwahaha. I just looked a bit closer at the specs. Blu-ray drive, but the screen is only 1600x900 (yes, you read that right - and it is a 17.3" screen). So full of fail...

My HP laptop has held up well. But I bought it because it was on a wicked sale (so I took the risk). My next laptop will likely be from Asus (and a long way from being purchased).

if you enjoy paying that much for a laptop, all the more power to you. From what I hear though, you can just hackintosh a $200 netbook and get the same effect though...

^ this. The MSI Wind can be used (I have a friend with one) or I believe the HP mini might work equally well. iOS is bad enough, I don't want an Apple OS on any desktop/laptop computer I own. I needz mah freedom!

Not really the same reasons. The iPad was the only legit option. If there had been a comparably equipped Android tablet I probably would've bought it instead. I'd rather have the open OS. But for what I was going to use the iPad for, the OS was an acceptable sacrifice. On an actual computing device (laptop/desktop), the locked OS is a MUCH bigger concern to me.
