I see that some of you have yours set at 4R and 8F (Firmest settings right?) and I was wondering if that would shorten the life as compared to the 3R 6F that someone else said? (Or maybe that is backwards, whatever)

What do you have yours set at? After they are installed I want to set them correctly.

According to everyone I have talked to from KYB, and taking in to account a little knowledge about dampers in general, a strut will last longest when set to its firmest setting. This is due to the fact that when you stiffen the rebound, the strut will extend and retract fewer times for a given roadway because of its added stiffness. The primary cause of failure in a low pressure twin tube gas damper like the KYB is seal failure caused by continued oscillation. Basic theory tells us that the stiffer the damper, the longer the lifespan.

Thank you for answering my question! So now I know, it was the opposite of what I was thinking... Glad I asked.

I had AGX's with whiteline springs on my S14. loved it. that thing handled how I wanted it to, broke loose just about every time I asked it to. And the ride was smooth and not super hard.Yeah, it could've been lower, but I realize it was QUITE low already and that I didn't need to go any lower or I'd have trouble getting into my appt complex like some of my friends 240's. (loud noises and big hits when you're going over a sliding gate rail are not good.)

I'm probably going to go with AGX's again for my S13 if I dont find a cheaper set of coilovers.

Seeing as i already have some springs on stock struts, I don't think it'll be any cheaper to get coils.
