Are you sure his vtec is kicking in at all? does he have a little light connected to the solenoid signal line? I dont see how it could kick in that late. Does he have a VAFC?

I've heard about stock sr20det beating a hatch H22a(very light).

My friend has a h22a in a civic coupe and ran 13.8 and he has timeslips for it and to mention its stock, now a civic weighs about 2600lbs while the hatch is around 2100. the sr stock can beat it?

If you guys want, I'm sure I could try to arrange for you to race my little brother's civic. He only has a '94 hatch dx with a b18c5, CAI, header, exhaust, MSD, ACT clutch, lightened flywheel, upgraded fuel pump, and NO body mods. He painted it and has a CF hood, thats about it. the only negative thing about it is it has a f'ed up interior from the previous owner who put an integra dash in it. he only hasn't done anything about the dash cuz he spends all his money on performance.

A stock SR 240sx couldn't take a H22 hatch in a drag race...

now this is where driver advantage comes in my friend, however i dont think a stock sr would beat that anyway, if he had the sr in an s13 fastback (27oolbs) then he still has the same amount of hp as you do(2oohp)(considering once you launch, the h22 stays in vtec range when shifted), so from launch the s13 would almost def have you considering he has 2ooft lbs of tq, and the h22a is putting out 165 i believe at hte front wheels, so traction is in favor of hte s13 (given neither car has obvious tire advantage), however once rolling, the weight factor will become more obvious, and torque isnt needed nearly as much once you're rolling as it is when you're launching, so my vote would be no, a stock sr 24o wouldnt beat an h22a in a civic hatch , as long as the civic was tuned properly of cousrea stock sr2o is good for mid 14sec time slips, now if your friend is running 13.8, then there you go

I'm sorry, but there is NO way. Don't even go there.

H22 hatch's are good for consistent 13's. And I'm saying that regardless of the generation. If it's a 92-95, I wouldn't be suprised if it hit low 13's/high 12's with good tires. And 96-00, atleast mid 13s.

And the Type R engine in a hatchback is also very comparable to the H22. Lets not have that discussion though please.. they are both almost equal as far as timeslips go in civics.

Back to the H22. They are MORE consistent to get good times with because they have the torque and the top end. Don't doubt them please.

Friend of mine has a 94' Integra LS and even tho it's not the faster GSR or Type-R, I respect it. I've driven it, and it definetly has potential, even tho it's the lesser sister. I thought about buying a GSR and turboing it, but the allure of RWD and RB25DET engines is just too strong for me to fight.

Maybe when I'm rich I'll buy both and call it good.

I respect Honda engineering. With the right engine in the right car, they will make an impression on even the most avid honda hater.

Just my $.02

d1gp - I totally agree with your comments. I HATE Honduhs. I will get flamed for this, but I have owned many hondas in the past, and I CANNOT stand a FWD car. I had a severely done up 92 Maxima SE 5-speed and roasted every honda I ever came across and my VTC units were funked up in my Maxima so 0% respect for Honda. Let's not even bring up there F1 race record where it was last year or two years ago and they might have finished one race completely since the engines kept blowing up. I will never ever again buy a Honda, or even drive one for that matter. Overpriced crap is what I call them even with their lowly VTEC, Turbocharged ZC, Turbocharged B16, Turbocharged B18. Only engine worth a crap is the H22 with H23 internals that has been totally modified and turbocharged with a Garrett t-61. If anything else it is a waste. Give me a s13 any day with a RB25DET, SR20DET, or even Turbocharged done up KA24e o KA24DE and I will roast the honda product in a road race!

Remember I have owned Hondas, BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, Nissans, and of course several Fords, and Chevy Products.

I will never go Domestic again, or Honda. My personal opinions are most domestics have no interior styling, and Hondas are played out to say the least, guess that is why Honda has started losing its' corner on the market for sales.

obviously you havent raced stock 2003 accords yet, or s2000's. Just imagine a properly matched turbo on either one of those machines.

if honda was crap, they would have stoped production a long time ago.

you can make any car a 10 second car ( or close, read an article about a 13 second geo storm, 3 cylinder powa!!!) just depends how much cash you want to spend.

modding cars isnt about bolting stuff on, there is about 289374198273 things to keep in when planning a true race car project.

heck, that Q45tech guy in the infiniti forum, hes like a well of knowledge, until i started reading some of his threads i didnt realize how much theory is behind "modding cars"

maybe you had poor experiences with a honda cuz you modded it wrong, i dont know, or maybe you just pushed the limit without take precoutions.

and about the F1 cars, you go and make a car that revs to 18000 and make it reliable, go go, i dare you, come on?!!

First off I have modded many Hondas! I just hate them... My personal preference! I am very outspoken, and simply am sick of Accords, Preludes, Civics, Integras, NSX (HAHA), & S2000. Give me a break! I have been working on BMW, Benz, Prosche, Jaguars now for a long time and decided to come back over to the Nissan Side. Only cars I swore that would possibly sway me back from the European side was a 240sx (Silvia), Rx7, 300ZX (fairladyZ), Skyline GTR, WRX-STI, or maybe a Toyota Supra or MR2 to name a few.

As for my comments about Hondas I only respect the h23 or h22 engines, the new ones are alright, and I have driven every year of Accord, Civic, Prelude, etc. from 1980 up to current. I will give Honda one thing and that is for being a ****ty FWD car they have good suspensions. In fact much better then my old Maxima had even after thousand of dollars in suspension mods. COurse the Maxima had also been dogged out by the previous owners which was obvious.

Anyways, obviously I went off on a tangent, Sorry!

I am just all about seeing any Honda getting tossed like a salad! :)

You are a farking IDIOT.

"0 respect for honda""overpriced crap""lowly vtec""only engine worth a crap in the H22 with H32 internals blah blah""Honda has started losing it's corner on the market for sales"

Where do you get these stupid comments? You are sickly opinionated.

If Hondas do not appeal to you, then why the f**k are you sitting on your *** putting them down? Because they didn't come out with a RWD turbocharged inline 6 cylinder gas guzzling beast? Get over it.

Do you think Honda would be some super successfull manufacturer if they made cars like that? No. And if they did would you be happy? Probably, because you are sickly opinionated, like I said.

You must be very satistfied knowing that you've owned even MORE OVERPRICED vehicles in your past.

The truth is, Honda is EXTREMELY successull, and they appeal to the majority of people in our country. They did not design RWD turbo cars to satistfy a few lonely dissrespectfull enthusiasts as yourself.

Now what's REALLY funny, is this comment: "Only engine worth a crap is the H22 with H23 internals that has been totally modified and turbocharged with a Garrett t-61". Where did you come to that conclusion? Did you come accross some other idiots idea of a "totally modified" Honda engine? If it would be totally modified, it certainly wouldn't need such useless internals from an H23.

Wow look at me! Almost 100 more cubic centimeter displacement and WEAK rods! I can boost a whole 8-10 pounds before I break it!

And then you say vtec is "lowly"... that's interesting. Tell us more! Is valve timing not efficient enough for you? Is it because you surely can't use it to make more power at higher rpms? I'd like to know. You'll probably say "well Honda should have just used a turbo, they could have made them have so much more power"...

And then to think... you have the same name as me. That makes me sad.

HAHA :)

Man I am kidding around to see how people would take this! :)

Obviously!

I am honestly not nuts on Hondas, as I am just so sick of seeing so many Civics, Accords, and Ludes. That is also why I got sick of my Maxima and attempted to switch over to the Euro side, but the only problem is finances and I didn't have enough to do up my BMW 7 series properly, and could not find a 944 Turbo, 928s4, or BMW e30 3 series at the time I got the 7er.

I realize Honda is a respectable manufacturer of many things. I personally am just done with FWD cars, and also done with Automatic transmission. That is just my personal option and opinon. In fact I loved my late 80's accord LXI I had, great gas milage, light, and decent performance. But it simply loved to hydroplane very easily, and was FWD something I detest.
