260+ cams really shine from 4200 on, especially if you are running a decent amount of boost. Upwards of 16psi or so. No need to upgrade cams if you're not gonna increase the boost imho. By adding duration and changing the LSA you're moving the engines peak torque curve higher, so you lose some on the low end. Personally I think 256* of duration with the factory LSA would be perfect. Add a set of adjustable gears and you'll have a pretty efficient KAT.

Also, if you're going to go with 260* cams, you'll want new springs. At that point you might as well snag some titanium retainers. Have the valves seats redone, or diy with some gritty valve paste. Grab your dremel and clean up all of the casting defects and then gasket match the ports. No need to go crazy, you need to know what you're doing to change the runner size and whatnot. But a cleanup and gasket match is pretty easy.

Then you would have a KAT that could rev to 8k.

I still have stock cams which i can't really complain about; the torque from 3500 to 5000 rpms is great but, I wanna do the 248/232 cam swap at least. I think there is a lot more to gain jumping from the weak s14 232's

I've really got to put in some S13 cams on my boosted engine. Damn money and motivation.

ehh with boost cams help but it's not as vital as if you were building an n/a motor...so i wouldn't drop tons of money on cams, the jwt cam wheels and some 248's would suffice for my setup

You guys remember the crazy guy that redid a whole S14?
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=283826

I found his S13 thread!
Not as insane as his S14 one, but still interesting to look at.

^That guy trips me out. That's the dedication I have, but just not the time :( My 240 looks pretty good for it's age and mileage, but that leaking transmission has made the underbody nasty. I'm not worried about cams for the SR either, I plan on just a boost bump up to 10-12 psi on the T25. When it finally goes, I'll do either the disco potato .86 trim or the 2871r .64 trim and then get 256 or 260 cams. Right now I need to install a new trans that doesn't leak, get tires & alignment.

how come you are selling them? it turns out i really cant afford cams right now for my car that is barely on 4 wheels.

hopefully i get my a$$ in gear and get working on my car again this weekend though. my coworker wants to learn to work on cars. so i told him i would teach him, so i have some help/motivation lol. im going to install the Energy Suspension bushings this weekend. its going to suck haha. but a good learning experience for him.

anyways my build thread will be active again very shortly

1st i bought them without really doing any research on them, i saw plug and play and was like "gasp, iWant!"
2nd i need money, i am working but im probably going to have to go on unemployment again.. :( i just want a steady job so i can marry my girl.
3rd i don't plan on boosting my KA, mainly because im uneducated on what it would all entail, Im sure it would be fun, i'll wait till im ready to take on a big project.

if i do go KA-T i'll change my name to KaTeed... being as Teed is my last name. lol

ya i hear you man. that sucks.

anyone know about net book lap top computers? i just got an acer aspire one d255, and im not sure i like it. it seems to be really slow and skip video and say "not responding" a lot

the only things i have loaded on it are skype, firefox, adobe, and a few pics. i got it from costco and i have about another 2.5 months to take it back. read some reviews and one site gave it 2.5 stars out of 5 and another place gave it 7.5 our of 10...

Yeah, Netbook laptops come with handicapped CPUs, and lag a lot when doing certain things.

I haven't looked into laptops that much these days so I'm not sure what's good right now.
I've heard a lot of good things about the EEE PC though.

Oh, it's a netbook, oddly named haha.
Most netbooks come with an Atom processor though, so if you want anything more powerful you'll need to look into a full on laptop.

Yeah, if you have a lot of windows open, it takes up a lot of RAM, how big is your current memory card?

WD, which are are you talking? Fort Meade, Aberdeen, or Saint Mary's County? When you come around just drop me a line I'll show you around. Not much here but extremely high cost of living, icy roads, and d!ck state troopers. Oh, but the crabs make it worth it; and a boat is a necessity. I wouldn't mind giving you a hand so you can finish your build thread :bigthumb:

i usually do have a lot of windows open, well usually tabs but i dont see much difference. it says the memory is 1GB and 250GB storage.. i would think 1 gig isnt much..

you guys ever go to buy something from someone on a forum, then decide not to after thinking about it and them being a complete D bag?

im on a toyota forum, and this guy is selling a lightly used 6 puck clutch. and supposedly he "made it" and there is no brand. after thinking about it and him saying there is no warrenty, i decided against it. then he left me 3 voice mails and about 14 phone calls. the voice mails were as rude and childish as it gets. could not believe it..

Yeah, 1gb is pretty low in today's standards.

Wow what a cry baby.
I'm glad I never had that kind of problem before.
