thank you for making it clear you have no clue why removing the quench pads helps in making HP.CursedGTR wrote:Look man, It is simple I have done every possible thing I could to this motor to reach my goal. I really do not understand your static but if you want to know why i did it READ. Period.
I do not have to justify the modifications I made to my engine to you. I really do not care how much you know or think you know yes there are some downsides to any modification but for what I intend to do with my car I do not see any downside as top end is EXTREMEMLY important for what i am trying to do.
Take the info I have given for what it is just some info you can use it or not. The one thing I DO NOT want to do is sit here and debate the merits of my project with some guy I do not know and has not established any credibility in person with me.
You want numbers Go Pay for them and get some and do your own comparison. I have rode the line on RB26's and Rb25's and did not want to do it again so i did what i did. I will be glad to post up some dyno numbers AS SOON AS THE ENGINE IS IN A CAR. Expect about 9-12 months before that will happen though.
Now can someone lock this thread it is ruined
I know who is building his motor and he knows what he is talking about. He build things like this for ****s and giggles. http://www.sdsefi.com/features/jan064ag ... 2tommy.htmjohnzm wrote:

its clear that you ride bandwagons as hard as anyone, seeing as you throw money without regard to simple physics. well FYI it isint hard to make 900hp on a inline six turbo.http://www.suprastore.com has a nice900hp kit for sale. oh ya supra's have quench pads o wait, v-8's have quench pads! ****. everything has quench pads. they must BE THE WORST THING EVER DESIGNED.
this will be my last post on nico seeing as your the prime example why forums make people duller, not sharper (those are some shiney parts, i bet that makes them fast!) and why nico is generally regarded as a ****hole.i gues i shold have listened to the people that said that before attempting to get any DECENT information from this site, other than "look at my shiney parts!" and "what size turbo do i need?!!?"
adios
GOOD. YOU ARE A RETARD. 2JZGTE's and most V8's DO NOT NEED TO REV ABOVE 10,000 RPM to make 900 -1,000 hp. Most RB26DETT's do, since there is about a minimum of 400cc in displacement in difference you are talking apples and oranges. Talk to me about the RB26 not the 2J or some V8 that I could care less about.johnzm wrote:

Could not have said it better at all.s14 2510’s wrote:Time will tell I quess whos makes better hp and how. But for now I say cursedgtr is in the lead on doing it right. You gota try things to see if they work. If your going all out and putting a rb26 in a s15 most imes you would have the engine painted and done up. What kind of oil pump do I spy cursedGTR? Just back off and sit back and read. You will gain more by waiting and seeing there outcome. I was palanning on reshaping the combushtion chambers also. It looks like good work and in high boost engines you most times dont see the quench pads.Do what you want to do Plz DONT BASH OTHERS FOR THERE HARD WORK! If it fails you can get the satisfaction in the long run and snicker to your self.
I did the whole skyline thing for a while and decided I didn't much care for skylines as a whole car. Do not get me wrong, I like GTR's and all but they are a huge pain in the *** to keep on the road once they start aging. Also, I did not like how complicated everything was. Originally I was going to do this build for my old R32 GTR. But I kept on looking an looking at the S15 and knew that I would want one (they are jsut sexy cars). I am not too keen on the whole SR thing, just because I am comfortable with RB's, so I decided to go with a RB26DETT in an S15 Chassis. Of course the motor is going to throw off the over all balance of the car a bit and some things are going to be out of wack and will need to be adjusted. There are going to be somethings that cannot be compensated for, but in the end, I feel I will reach my goal of a 200 MPH S Chassis. Time will tell and we will see if I am able to make my goal come to fruition, should I accomplish this it woul be way cool and a personal feat.redtop91 wrote:From a performance Standpoint... I honestly never got the whole RB26 into the S chassis. Dont get me wrong you're performing amazing things with the holy grail of motors. But in my experience (with the S13/S14) much more HP over 350 produces massive wheel hop. Granted with the RB26 its a lot easier to get to that 350 mark but you upset the balance of the S chassis in the process . Congrats on an amazing engine, swap, and chassis
Most Definitely!!!! Wow if you hit the 200 mark you gotta take me 4 a spin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CursedGTR wrote:

I really don't see any points to debate. Of course putting the RB in the 240 in place of the KA will change the center of balance, that's basic and irrefutable. The change is negligable though so while it may be true it is merely of anecdotal value. The way CA, SR and KA guys cling to it as if it were Mr. Miyagi's crane kick "no can defense", is silly. The S-chassis has the balance of a lawn dart to begin with, that's why it swings so easily around that foward point of balance. Moving it foward a few inches means nothing. I have always preferred the Skyline's more neutral balance to the S-chassis because I like high speed and the 180 gets spooky at triple digits. For drifting I would go the other way because of the light ***, it breaks easy and in a linear fashion. So in summation, no debate. It does change it a bit, so what.redtop91 wrote:^^ debateable but this isnt the time or place
Sweet ride anyways
couple the S chassis, lightened, with low performance tires and you've got one seriously scary whip. As regards the whole balance thing whatever... anything from a full tank of gas to eating a quarter pounder with cheese can upset balance. My main point still exists in that you can't build the RB to its full potential and expect even half of its power to make it to the ground in the first two gears in the S. But from the standpoint of doing it because it can be done is freakin awesome. I'm not biting him for choosing the RB because I'm building an RB26 S14 but it is for show.themadscientist wrote:the 180 gets spooky at triple digits.
I have seen what you speak of first hand, it is quite a whiteknuckler. There is a Silvia locally that cranks out low 10s in the quarter with a serious 26 in it but he fights the traction issue. Even with big gumballs and well-set suspension he has to pedal it to keep it from going up in a cloud of tiresmoke. Any serious attempt at the the 26 in a S-chassis for drag work should really start with back-halving the car. HKS used to run a tubbed 180SX with a 26 many years ago that could bring the pain.redtop91 wrote: My main point still exists in that you can't build the RB to its full potential and expect even half of its power to make it to the ground in the first two gears in the S.
