wooh parts!

so in the last week or so i've been collecting parts. first things first, i picked up new endlinks and put the swaybar back in (still need to modify the oil pan just a bit so it fits perfectly). new endlinks were super cheap and i put my energy suspension bushings on them just because:

old link vs new:

and on the sway:

after that, i got my exhaust off a friend. its an 80mm (im pretty sure) Apex'i N1. sounded great on his rb20 240sx, but he also has a t3/t04e turbo and i'll be running stock. had a couple small holes from skiddin on the ground and he welded those up for me:

then last night, i finally picked up some subframe collars that i traded for a case of beer. i love the people in my city lol:
Image

im gonna see if its possible for me to run those AND my energy suspension inserts. rear end stiffness FTW!

and last but not least, i finally got my brakes and lower control arms! picked up a full set of skyline gtst rear knuckles/calipers/ebrake set up, and got BRAND NEW front lower arms for $130. 2 new balljoints would've been 140 up here and i still would've had to press in new bushings. this way, the arms are new, clean, and have the balljoints and bushings already in them.

and the brakes, old vs new front calipers:

just going to pick up some new front coilover nuts to bolt them into the bay tomorrow so theyre nice and new, and the front end SHOULD be put back together by tomorrow evening. also going to clean up the bay, do some paint touchups and snap some more pics. also, apparently i need some front conversion lines to run the gtst brakes, so i'll be looking into those as well. thoughts/comments welcome!

more stuff!

first, cleaned up the bay a little bit, cant get the tape residue off but im not too bothered by it. it'll come off eventually or something:
Image

also got the front suspension all installed. didnt tighten the lca/crossmember bolt cuz the suspensions not loaded, and i dont have front hubs to put wheels on so i cant put it down quite yet:
Image
Image

i havent changed the bushin in the tension rod...as im planning on just getting new ones (if i can find ones that dont have spherical bushings). if i cant, it doesnt take long to remove them anyways.

aside from that, i actually spent some time cleaning my carport/work area. SO much cleaner now:
Image

yup, those are parts in the background :) and speaking of parts, finally got my fmic today as well!

its a mishimoto 28x11x3.75 core. should be everything i need to get to 300whp

good to hear man. i was surprised to see they had spherical bushings instead of bearings in the strut, will be interesting for sure

freaking nice jared9yeah iam stalking you on here too) don't remember that link that i got thr fsm from(think it was augtr) but i tried for days to email them to you and it comes back.

so you can leave youre tools out like that and not have them stolen??

be prepared for a world of hurt trying to get some wheels(you might get lucky) that can clear those brakes.

you might not have a prob since you hAVE coilovers(iam poor and have strut and spring).

when are you going to start this up??

-i have no idea why my email would've rejected it man...i get all the rest of my mail..i guess i'll just have to find one
-ya, the tools stay outside. i have a key for the toolbox if i need and i can always chain it to a post but i live in a place where no one really goes so its no biggy
-im leaning towards getting some work wheels, 18/17 stagger. im sure i can get them to clear the brakes
-as for when it'll be started..fluids and wiring is all i NEED to start it. dont need an intercooler hooked up or suspension done to start it. as far as when everything else will be done i have no idea. got some suspension work to do still..then i need to get IC piping and exhaust fabbed up still, fluids and WIRING. my buddy doin the wiring is tryin to get his rb 240 tuned for drifting on sept. 5th so i gotta see when he has time. we also work very different schedules so its hard sometimes

you can always ask carl h to do it(he did mine and i highly recommend him) won't cost more than $350.00(including shipping).

the problem is my buddy's already got the harness, i've already payed him (200 to do everything wiring related..we're tucking it too) and it'll still probably be done in the same amount of time if i sent it off to carl h or just waited for him. im not really in any hurry lol..it seems the people that want me to start this thing up the most are the people on here lol. oh well, it'll be started very shortly hopefully

thanks gabes. i tweaked my shoulder torquing the strut bolts so as soon as thats better im gonna work on taking the tension rods back off (even tho i just put everythign together) to put the bushings in. no luck finding a set that doesnt have spherical bushings so im just gonna put urethane bushings in the stock rods and call that a day. also gonna order up a downpipe flange for the turbo so i can start building the exhaust and order in my front hubs tomorrow so that i can get everything just a little bit closer. the stock tie rods can stay for now but will be changed out before the car is really driven

local parts store had them, i got them cheap cuz i work at a shop.

all in all though, i think theres been a change in plans and it'll be a bit longer til i see this thing running. with the turbo having the shaft play that it does id just rather not deal with it smoking on startup or anything like that, so im going to pull the turbo/exhaust manifold/etc. and replace it all. going to get a garrett gt2871, .63AR, with t3 flange, and mate it up to a top mount exhaust manifold, find some injectors and give it a tune hopefully gettin to 300rwhp. im also going to the give the entire engine a once over and replaces the belts/gaskets so that hopefully i dont have any issues in the future when it IS running.

anyone know where i can get a rb fsm (i know jims been trying to send me one), and a place where i can get rb gaskets/belts?

thanks guys.

im planning (if its not 100 degrees outside) on getting quite a bit of work done. possibly start tearing apart the rear suspension, pull the power steering pump and turbo and related accessories to make room for my new stuff i'll be ordering over the next little while, and find a couple bolts for the two holes in the bellhousing that are missing lol (dunno wat happened to them). we'll have to see what happens.

it is easiest to go from underneath. every ka, sr, or ca ive pulled or installed i did from the bottom. its less work and theres no clearance problems. the underside is just one BIG opening. no hood, no radiator support, no tunnel, all open space :dblthumb:

Well it is easier, but not many people can do it since it's mostly done when the car is on a hydraulic tower lift.

Whenever I get around to getting enough for the RB25, I'll have to try it that way.

I know you didn't use a lift, that is why I said it was unique.

if u want to go in thru the bottom, the easiest way i found is to go to sears and buy a craftsman motorcycle/atv jack for like $90. axles... yes. i kno a guy who has BUNCHES! his name is Dustin, he own a shop here in town called midnight auto and hes more than likely got ANYTHING u need. the number is 1-256-270-9228. best time to call is any time after 2pm. he takes care of all of us around here
