OK, who said hockey is boring? Notice how few play stoppages there are compared to the "TV timeouts" in other sports. There are walls to keep the puck in play/save fans from eating a 75mph puck. Hockey will always share top honors with American football as most physical.

As far as predictions go, sorry to say it buy Tampa Bay still has a top contender...i'm seeing repeat!! The D will humble us all!!

OSU will probably clean up..

Holistic, if you've never put on a helmet and gone to war with ten other guys, you really can't understand why football is the way it is in people's minds. There's a feeling and sound unlike anything else...the feeling of your joints compressing as you slam into a guy who's trying to run you over, the sounds from the impact...it's not the same as what you see on tv. More like a car accident or train wreck...a sound you rarely hear, but you can also <feel> it, in your body. There's a place you go to when you've laid the perfect hit on a guy, where you feel no pain, you cannot tire, you cannot die. Call me a junky, but every time I watch football I remember those sounds and feelings and I get chills..

I'd rather play soccer than football, but would rather watch american football than soccer. Though I'd more likely watch soccer if Heather Mitts were playing (very good local Philly player who's also a hottie).

christ, bubba your a giants fan from PA, sacrillage. As a former resident of leigh high valley and the city of philadelphia I demand you leave PA soil immediately.

On the subject of collegiant football i forgot about UGA....and i attend the school :D . UGA should be pretty fukin sick this year. Last year they would have been in the championship prolly if they didnt get stung by florida (every year). seeing how florida cant even get their mascot right i dont think UGA should have a problem with them at all.

Nah, not sacrillage. I was born and raised in North Jersey. But I've always wondered why there are so many Dall-*** fans that have never lived in Texas.

Where in the Lehigh Valley did you live? I went to Lehigh.if we're talking college ball, Watch Lehigh in 1-AA, they've been hot last few years.

2003 will be all about the Carolina Panthers (beautiful preseason game against the Washington Spurriers... uh Redskins tonight! Davis looked awesome! I know, I know - it's only preseason, but let me dream for a while.

And while I'm at it - the last team to beat Ohio State will be the next SEC champion (still dreaming) .... the USC Game****s!

(that's University of South Carolina to everyone who mistakenly thought "hey, aren't they the Trojans??

I didn't see anyone on this thread say they were hardcore major league baseball or NASCAR fans. I also don't see many Nissans running around with #3 and #8 decals with confederate flags running around, do you? I enjoy playing baseball, but not watching it, and as far as NASCRAP, the only time I might watch it is if they are on a road course that I've driven on. IMHO ovals are tedious to watch except for the last lap of a close race.

Well you don't have to have anybody post anything about baseball, I just say it cause it's the biggest sport here(USA). And it shows how the majority of Americans who call soccer a wuss sport but consdier baseball to be manley are hypocrites. There is more contact in 1 game of soccer then there is in a whole week of baseball.

Nascrap is just ridiculous, I have no words to describe this, well maybe Only In America. I have absolutely no idea what drives the masses to go watch these things. Formula 1 is where it's at. And I even like the Speed Touring series, Its not British Car Touring or the Famous Japanese Car but it's something.

Baseball is NOT the biggest sport in the US.

Football games have consistently outperformed baseball games in terms of packing the stands... At least for the past four or five years.

Not to take anything away from Ray "What Knife?" Lewis, who has TONS of talent, but I think that honor goes to Brian Urlacher.

My oldest has played middle linebacker for the past 3 years of his short (5 years) football career, and he describes it JUST LIKE Phil did above. He's being courted by several HS football coaches right now, 'cuz the boy is a straight-up psycho on the field. Fast, agile, and hits like he wants to hurt someone.

Defense wins championships.

And not to mention TV ratings. Neither soccer or baseball can hold a candle to football, its the greatest sport on the planet.

I can't say that brian urlacher is the best lb i still think the honor goes to lewis but theres about 4-5 guys you can put in the category as possibly the best in the game, the most noteable being lewis, urlacher, and arington.

and baseball has been getting wrecked by football ever since the baseball strike in the 80's. the strike in the 90's however truly broke baseballs back.

Urlacher is faster than Lewis and Arrington but he doesn't hit as hard as they do. On ESPN the other night, they were discussing his lack of hit power. Personally, if Mike Vick has a hard time out-running Urlacher then he is a bad-a-s-s but, if Mike Vick is scared to be hit by Arrington, that's another thing entirely.

I think "What knife" Lewis is a more complete LB than Arrington (who is no slouch). And Urlacher ranks up there too. But none of them were as great or feared as LT.

I don't mind baseball but Major league baseball lost me during the 80's. Ridiculous prices, overpayed players, arrogant owners, very fan unfriendly. But minor league baseball is far more interesting than MLB and reasonably priced. The Trenton Thunder (Yankee's AA affiliate) is very fan friendly, and does a lotta nice stuff for the kids between innings. It's a pleasant afternoon diversion if you have kids.

everybody makes those jokes about lewis but don't really know the story of what happened. If the Ray Lewis SportsCentury is ever on, you folks should watch it. He was on trial for Obstruction of Justice while the DA was running for re-election and used the trial for his own purposes.

And, Urlacher is a beast, but i'd have to agree, Ray Lewis is the hardest-hitting guy. That block he laid out on the Bronco guy during McAlister's 107-yd missed field goal return was the best hit of last year, i thought.

it's not the fact that he is probably the hardest hitting defensemen in the league its his ability to disrupt a pass. you dont really want to throw in that direction if lewis is in the area. when he is healthy he usually leads the league in not only tackles but tipped balls to(i said tipped balls).

any Dolphin fans?????? if they can only learn to not fold up in Dec. great defense, no sophmore jinx with ricky, and will the real QB please stand up. Watch out for em'

next best sport---hockey. hate baseball--would rather watch paint dry!!!! love golf, too. one of the last sports where you actually get paid by your performance. if you suck, no paycheck. have to pay your own travel expenses, hotel, meals, etc. when a guy misses a 10 foot put and doesn't make the cut into the weekend, NO PAYCHECK. when michael vick throws an interception and the falcons lose, still big money. talk about pressure. i used to think golf was a sissy sport,,,,,until i took it up. hands down the hardest game to play well. i'm not a basketball player, but i can look respectable on the court. i'm not into baseball but i can jump into a game look decent. golf, and i've been playing for years, will still make me look like a complete jack-*** on the course sometimes!!!!! just my 2cents!!!

NOW I'LL REALLY TURN UP THE HEAT FOR EVERYONE------DAN MARINO WAS THE GREATEST QB OF ALL TIME-----NO QUESTION, NO ARGUMENT (ALTHOUGH I'M SURE THEY'LL BE ONE SOON). I'LL DEBATE ANYONE. ANY TAKERS??? jeff

There is no best Quarterback, theres a three way race. Dan marino would have been far and away the best, if he got a ring. The other 2 i think are elway and montana. hon. mention - unitas.

About being able to not look like a jackass on a court or a diamond is rediculous. I'm playing college basketball and I would look like a jackass on the next level of ball. Someone who is a complete novice would get dominated. And baseball is even worse. the day i can hit a 95 mile an hour pitch, or a knuckleball is the day i go work out for a team. I dont dispute that golf is hard but i wouldnt call it the hardest sport because you dont have to be physically gifted or workout in the manner you have to do in any of the other big sports, even the shtters like hokey and soccer ;). i guess im the only one that likes to sit back and watch baseball every once in a while.
