It's not really that hard to do. You can do it yourself in a solid weekend if you have all the parts. Get a Chiltons or Haynes and they will have all the required parts, lines, etc.

The S15 Silvias in Japan have a convertible hardtop i believe. It really looks sweet. They have aftermarket tops for the S13 i think.

On the S13 manual-auto conversion.... anyone know where theres some info? I searched around but all i found is a outline for a S14. Is it the same as an S13? Is it just as simple as swapping trannies? I would plan to stay KA for a while.

A new top isn't that pricey. I found them for 400-500 dollars online. You can prob. find others even cheaper.

~$400-500 plus install. I would install a new top on my vert but I dont think I would be able to stretch it enough, not even on a sunny day.

Would an RB engine under the hood still have enough clearance for Sway bars and anti roll bars or whatever theyre called to stiffen up the ride. I think that an RB swap would be sweet in a ride like this. SR...every other 240 has em. Cant decide which route is best Rb20 or 25....but thats for another thread.

Well i didnt want to start a new thread so brought my old one up again:)

The question is im being offered a 92 convertible w/136K for 2800. The asking price was originally 4000. What do you guys think? i could try and haggle more to see if he could drop it down more.

It will cost about $1000 to get the top replaced. My rear window is very cloudy and annoying and I havent felt like spending the money on a new one. Just something to keep in mind but I love my car.

I think a vert would be original, i never seen one in real life with a SR or with a silvia convertion, and i agree with krazy skwerel try and get him down to about 2500 or lower if it's in good condition.

Yea i wanna get it as low as i can. I already used up all my excuses for him to lower it down. I mean the i got him to drop off 1200 of the price. I want somehow work in the chassis stiffness in there so i could really get him down to maybe 2 grand.

I havent really seen the car, just because its about an hour away from my house.

How well is that plastic window in winter? anyone know? we got some good snowy winters and i dunno if visibility is difficult when it snows or at night.

If it is in good condition and clear then it wont be too bad but mine is terrible at night. I will change it out when I get a job because it is annoying but remember there is no defroster in it.

Go for it.

Swap it, restore it, then sell it to me (I'm lazy).

That red 'vert on the first page is the ULTIMATE. I want, badly. :)
