G808,

Ditto on the RPM sounds here, especially WOT.

Glad you like the sound! Wait another 200 miles or so and tell me what you think then. It'll break-in and sound exactly like the G and Z. I'm pretty sure a lot of people doubted my claims of a G35/350Z sound until now.

I just finished putting in the Injen into the 3.5 coupe and it does sound very similar to the G35. I have an 07 G35S and ran them side by side. It is not exact but very close. The install was simple, the only pain was getting the filter into the area. I hope those things last long because its gonna be kind of a pain, but well worth it. Even though its not a huge performance boost it still "feels" faster just knowing you did something.

It would've been easier to add the filter head to the throttle body tube before placing in engine bay. But, it's too late so it doesn't really matter. As long as you got it in, that's all that counts.

Wait til 200-300 miles and update us on the sound. After breaking in, the sound changes and becomes more similar to the G35.

If I get some time over the weekend I might try to record them side by side and post the video. No promises but I will try.

Im considering this for the 2.5I already get pisspoor MPG bc of my driving habits... 23mpg on a 2.5!

How much of a loss in MPG should i expect?

Also, which would be money better spent... The Intake, or HID headlights and Foglights?

There is no possible way to fit a Cold Air Intake system for our car. Only WAI is available. I have no idea why some people just can’t seem to understand that.

Yay! sticky everything on the front page, so all the valuable space is taken! hurray!

Nice tutorial, but seriously, every thing should just be combined as a FAQ thread with links to other threads.

I asked Tyler to post this to the "Hot To" section , and I'm sure he will once he gets a chance. Until that happens, a sticky is perfect so that we don't have to rummage through old files or use search to find this thread. A thread that many folks on the forum have found valuable and useful being that most plan to put on the injen intake. No need to be an a**hole when it comes to doing things for the greater good of the forum!

That's about what I get with my 2.5; but thats with a lot of stop and go driving, since streets in miami are also used as parking lots sometimes...

Ok Eric. Your tutorial has been added to the How-To Page and the Table of Contents Thread.

Here's the article link

Hey Eric,

I don't know if it's just me or just like you, placebo but I felt that the gas feels a bit heavier after the intake installed. Weird. Also, should i try to dip the filter as low as possible? I'll take a pix later to show you. I had my brother in law look at it and he's a car tuner, he said it looked fine.

I don't think the gas pedal is heavier, I think it's your improved throttle response. When you push the gas now, the car jumps a little better, right? And as long as your pipe is aligned with the throttle body, your intake is where it's supposed to be.

It really wouldn't matter if your intake was a few inches lower anyway. I was planning on maybe somehow fabbing a "cold ram air" intake set-up when I had the time. It's been raining like crazy the past few days and I have a wedding to attend today, so I won't be able to look in my bay. I want to see if there's enough room to run air duct piping from one of my foglight cutouts right into my filter head. Use a fine mesh screen to cover up the cutout to keep larger parts of water out of the motor.

I'll keep you everyone posted on that whole thing. I think it'll be great to have a cold-air intake for our cars because I don't see any being manufactured, and I don't think there ever will be. Nothing like a nice, fresh cool breeze for my baby to breathe!

Eric, I installed 500K HID's into my wife's Sedan today...your tutorial was heads and shoulders better than the directions that came with the kit... thanks homie, your contribution to this forum is invaluable, I'll be installing the Injen Intake after christmas... thanks again

Good to hear. Did you use the mount points on the frame like I did? I think that's the best way to go for someone who doesn't want to drill. When the weather gets better here, I'm going back in to drill the mounts into the frame. I don't feel so easy with the ties holding them in place. I feel they need more support, even though I know the ties are pretty much unbreakable. I don't know, I think it'll just make me feel better to drill them down

By the way, don't you just love the 5000K? I think it's THE way to go.

Yeah, the 5000K is incredible...I'm not sure what temp the stock HID's are on my coupe w/ prem pack. , but IMHO, the aftermarket HID's on my wife's sedan look better than mine ... but it's cool, she's happy! Also, my kit came with double sided tape.. I think the combo of the double sided tape and wire ties will keep it pretty sturdy!

it kinda sucked how Nissan put HID into the headlights but the foggies are still regular bulb, when I turn both of them on it looked retarded so I usually leave my foggies off unless it rains

Why don't you convert your fogs to HID then?

JOhnny, I felt the same way.. so instead of converting my fogs to HID, I just grabbed some 5000K Xenon bulbs off of ebay... they look great!!

oh yeah, Eric, I went with the Xentek HID kit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW
