t2jokz,

???? did you read this thread? It's dedicated entirely to the installation of the intake. I took pics throughout the whole process to help some of you out, if it is needed.

UPDATED DRIVING IMPRESSIONS:

After logging 300+ miles in 3 days, I've come to the conclusion that I love the INJEN even more than I did before. Out of all the intakes (K&N, Jim Wolf, Weapon R, Airaid, Volant, etc) I've installed on my previous cars and my friends cars, I'd have to say that this is the best! Great performance, great sound and great build quality.

It seems that the intake has "broken in" because throttle response seems to have improved over 300 miles. I'm guessing the MAF sensor has adjusted to the extra air getting sucked into the combustion chamber and the on-board computer has adjusted the air/fuel mixture. Well at least that's what I'm thinking. Performance seems to have improved, or maybe it's just a placebo

The sound has even changed a bit. I thought it sounded great the first day I installed it, but it sounds even better now. The in-cabin purr is absolutely wonderful!! I find myself staying around that sweet spot at 2000-2500 RPM mark most of the time, and you'll find yourself doing the same. That's where it really sounds like the G.

The only negative about this intake is the fact that you'll lose fuel economy. Intakes usually help with gas mileage, but with this one, you'll see your fuel economy drop a bit. Why you ask? Because you'll find yourself in the higher powerband most of the time. You'll want to hear her hum, so you'll be flooring it more than you ever did before

Hey generic, got a question...I am in California, do you know if the Injen Intake has an Executive Order (EO) number for smog legal purposes in California?

Looks like a cold air intake is available (said they just came out last week?) Cost is $266.00, puts the filter out of engine compartment into a cold air flow.

And they also said they have applied for the EO number and should have it in about 8 months...so those of us in CA can call them and have the sticker sent to us. Cant get it smogged in CA without the sticker, real pain in the ***!

Seems as there may be some truth to this.

Generic, Wanna upgrade??

----------------------------------------------------------------

Generic, your sound/performance/fuel economy is changing because your driving style has changed. Most modern vehicles have "learning" computers that slowly change their programs to adjust to your drive style.

Most people with automatic(gear) transmissions notice it most of the times with shift modulation. Transmission will shift harder and hold rev's out a little longer.

God damnit!

What makes no sense here is that the part number they are using on that page is the same as the short ram intake.

Those people might not know there *** to their elbow and are selling the short ram as a cold air. The picture shown is even noted as not being the application.

If this were available it would be here:

S_C, you may still be better off with WAI. If i go with any at all, it will probably be the WAI. I experienced some problems with rain/puddles with my CAI on my honda civic and don't want that kind of worry again

EDIT: BEWARE! Compare partnumbers! We all keep calling the injen a short ram intake, meanwhile there is NO listing for a short ram intake. Cardomain.com and stillen.com BOTH list the injen as a cold air intake. Its just our terminology compaired to theirs

When I called the number (given above) "they" (which may not necessarily mean much) said, "It just was finished last week (production) and we will have it available next week, and it is a "true" cold air intake."

All I know is regardless of "performance increase" or not, I love the way it sounds...give me some deep throat baby!

Are headers available for this engine/coupe? Doesn't make much sense to change the CAT back exhaust and leave the factory exhaust manifold on...

NO!! THERE IS NO CAI AVAIALABLE FOR OUR CARS!! The link you posted is for model #SP1977 which is NOT a cold air intake. It's a short ram intake!! They list it as a CAI but it is not. I honestly don't think a CAI will be coming out soon.

No, headers are not available for our cars yet. Even opening up from cat-back will have it's benefits, but changing out the exhaust manifold for a header will be even better. I'm pretty sure within the next 6 months or so, a set will be available. It's too bad that HotShot Headers is no longer in business because I personally think they had one of the best sets. Ran them on my old SE-R and they were great!!

Yeah, like I posted a couple days back, I think they call it a cold air intake because it has a heat shield and it dips downward a few inches

And like Tyler said, " Those people might not know there *** to their elbow and are selling the short ram as a cold air."

Just compare part numbers, people!!

Finally got my intake and installed it 2nite... ITS AMAZING Totally worth the money. Took no more than 20-30 mins, very easy install. from 2-3krpms sounds just like a G, than above 5 k rpms just sounds like a modded Z. Its insane. totally worth the money and wait.

Don't you just love it?! Wait til she breaks in and then tell me what you think. I thought it sounded great when I first installed it, but after 300 miles, it sounds exactly like a G in that sweet spot 2000-2500 RPM's. I've since logged over 500 miles since my install and I'm enjoying every mile of it <---- you see big smile?

Do the 2007 Altima 2.5L K&N or Injen Filters fit the 2008 Altima Coupe 2.5?

Are y'all sure the Injen intake sound really good? I don't want to buy it and find out that its just louder but not necessarily better.... Kind of like the intakes you hear on civics nowadays.

I checked out the youtube vid clip earlier in this post, did not notice any difference whatsoever in engine sounds. probably because the video was just a guy revving the engine a bit in neutral and not actually driving the car though...

thx!

Haha did you read this entire thread yet? I believe I was the first one here to install the INJEN and suprisingly, the sound was very similar to that of the G35 and 350Z. Ever since, others have installed it and they will attest to the sound. Everyone seems to love it. The only way to explain what it sounds like is to check out a G35 and there you go.

Ya I read the whole (long) thread, haha... Just wasn't sure if anyone was exaggerating, I wouldn't have guessed that an intake could sound so nice. Maybe I'm being jaded because I once bought a nice AEM Cold Air Intake for an `02 Civic........ and it basically made the car louder.

I suppose since the A/C is running an entirely different motor that the intake will have a different effect...

thx!

Oh yeah, that G sound is all motor. No exhaust, just motor. The VQ35 in the Altima is basically the same motor in the G and Z's. Adding the INJEN to that same VQ motor lets her breathe, thus creating that very unique sound which I LOVE SOOO MUCH!!
