well i have a spare headlight I'm going to spray tomorrow MAYBE so i can really see what i want... I'm going to try out black, pearl and chrome... but not in that order.

the only reason I'm not liking chrome is cause with clear covers you can see all my work behind it. if it was all black then it would be harder to see and i think would look much better. as for the pearl (body color) i don't think it would look right, i think the angles are just not right for the look. I'm my opinion the body color has to flow with the car and not be concave like the traditional headlight. look at a new corvette or anything else that has body color housings. most have projectors and the colored part is rounded to the shape of the car... i just don't see that happening in the 240

i think what I'm going to do is black out the reflector and paint the trim like i photoshoped in the OP. also i think I'm going to remove the projector lens and paint the outside of the projector housing black and the shroud as well... i have some time on my hands tomorrow and Sunday so i should get some things done on this

i made some good progress over the weekend. got the brackets fabbed up and everything aligned correctly. now i just have to figure out how these projectors work. they are from a SUV so when i put the projectors in facing up the cut off line is on the bottom. i think i have to switch it and put them in upside down then it would work right... i think. I'm enjoying doing all this and learning on the way so i don't mind it plus I'm taking plenty of pictures and when I'm done i will post up all the work along the way. hopefully someone will either want to do this same set up or it will give someone a good idea on how to do another set up.

I'm doing a retro fit myself. I want to make a custom housing for the HID lamps. What material should I use? How hot do those things get? I'm planning for some 56K grade bulbs.

the ones tan posted are stickers but i can get the real deal. i can get CF before the hardener is added or after

i think I'm going to just leave mine all silver just to hide everything better. i think the black behind the projector would make it to noticeable but I'm going to paint the sides of the housing black

so far the retro fit is really easy. all the tools you need to do it is a dremel with a sanding wheel, drill with a 4mm bit 4 4mmx.70x12mm bolts and locking nuts then fab up some brackets that hold the projector 25mm off the housing and its a done deal.

i took my projectors apart so i didn't get them dirty and scratched up and forgot to check the light pattern before hand and i mounted everything upside down so i have to redo everything...thank god for a set of practice headlights.

You need to start a conversion service for non-fabricators like myself. I send my old housings and $ and you send them back with a projector conversion and clear covers.

yeah i was thinking about doing that but there are some thing to factor in. if you have a DD car you need an extra set of headlights to send and projectors there are MANY different kinds plus bulbs and HID kits. i have heard that BMW, TL, and many Nissan's use the same type of projector but i don't know how all of them mount with screw locations and all that. projector are not easy to find at cheap prices except for ebay then you have to get HIDs. there are D2S, D2R, and 9005 for factory kits. if i were to do that i would have a check list of all the parts needed or make up a price list for me to get it which is not what i want to do. it sounds like a good idea with something simple like the console cover where you done need expensive parts and you can make it work easily. i just think that the projectors are more work and to many variables to deal with. it might be easier if only one projector were used for all the retrofits but different people want different things.

the clear lenses are completely different story. those i could do and have back out with in a weeks time but i still don't really want to do that. i think it is simple enough for any one to do.

It's not for me, but props for having the balls to try something different.

+1 on eyelids, the projector looks too small for the headlight.

+1 for the light output/pattern.

but i dunno about having that housing inside another housing. looks kinda odd, especially from the top view.

just my 2 cents, if youre happy with it, Nico is happy with it.

yeah I'm happy with it for now but I'm going to get another set of these projectors and make a shroud for them so you cant see any of the work behind it and it would look more stock.

when i go to meets after the lights are off people cant really tell there is anything done to the light except for the clear lenses which i like. i don't want them to stand out. plus no one else has those kind of projectors

Yeeeaaah.... When I first saw the fininshed product, I was like, 'Wah?'

It's just didn't come out like I imagined. I'm gonna wait until I see it with the shroud before making an opinion.

I'm glad you did it though!

Ehhh, I don't like how it looks. But it DOES brighten the road up like a mother and that's what matters right ?
