Yes it is.

Happened to me again yesterday. Having an intelligent conversation with a guy who had a Z28 and was also into the import scene and had seen my car when it was on display at a local shop.

Some moron comes up from behind, says "You got an SR in that?"

I tell him no...the KA. He gives me a funny look and walks away. I wanted to strangle him.

THAT is what we're sick of.

It's pretty funny about the SR engine praisers. I can guarrantee a gigantic ammount of them would praise the KA if we got ca/sr and KA was JDM.

It will only take a couple things.

My theory is this. If you are "cool" anything you did to get "cool" will become "cool".

If Yashio didn't have fast pink cars no one would be running out and painting their valve covers pink. There was a dude that made got the term "Donkey Punch" into a car magazine. I thought that was hilarious.

KA-T proves itself on the drag strip. It would be considered cool.

Drifter pops out of his car and opens the hood to a KA-T. That would be considered cool.

Other than that 90% of any press on the KA is to take it out and get a SR.

It is good and bad. People ignore my stock KA but then again it is going to be a ***** to talk to companies, convincing them to make parts for the KA.

I don't think anyone is hating on it. And how is it better? Block for block?

No problem. I am still learning and would like to see facts rather than

No problem. I am actually pretty damn good with the search function now. There are ways to get just what you need out of that sucker.

Yea the KA gets no respect, until you beat them with a KA. :) For instance I had a 90 SOHC auto slow as hell an lost to everyone, now i got my 93 DOHC stick, havent lost yet(im not gonna race z28s) But the races I run are against respectable cars that are in my performance range. I wish I had just a 40-50 shot so I can run against those stock SR's(which most of them are) an finally shut those JDM crazed freaks up.

This thread is pointless. It's a matter of choice. No need to get frustrated just because one choice seems more popular than the other. The sr was designed with turbocharged applications in mind and the ka wasn't. Both engines have huge potential if done right. The sr does have direct injection and vvt (in s14 versions) and the ka has more torque due to larger displacement. I like the idea of having a factory designed turbo so that's why I choose the s14sr. I do have a lot of respect for kat engines though. I imagine that the torque must be monstrous but I can't confirm it b/c I've never ridden in one. :)

I own an Impreza 2.5RS and I agree that the SR thing is outta control.

I raced a 240sx that was in the area, and everyone assumed that my car was a WRX and that the 240sx MUST have had a SR...

Funny how ignorant most people are.

I'm going a similar route with my car and turbocharging the stock EJ25, instead of swapping it for a EJ20... go figure. I'll probably be as fast as a stock WRX at 4psi... It's all about the higher displacement engines ;)

Ya I hear ya.. I don't have a Turbo'ed KA OR an SR and I have people ask me that crap all the time. Usually they don't believe me when I tell them I am putting an RB25 in... one fu(ken retard with an N/A 300ZX he "races" all the time actually told me I wasted my money and should have gotten the Rb26 or nothing at all... I'm thinkin.. ok this jack off has the poor man's 300Zx that my 240sx can almost TAKE! (due to power/weight ratio) AND just the other day his friend told me he was going to buy an imported N/A 300ZX engine.. talk about waste of MONEY!

Sometimes I feel bad that I went RB25 instead of keeping the KA because it really does kick *** and needs to be represented much more.. of course I haven't yet gotten my RB either... but that'll change right?? This month it'll come right?? right?? :(

If I had it to do over again I'd probably go RB25. Not because I don't think the KA is a great engine, but an I6 sounds so much better.

yea an rb25 does sound like a good way too go. engine itself isnt too expensive and has so much more potential

5 grand is a LOT of money, I'd say for the 2,500 grand to get an SR, plus the 5.. u could probably rebuild the KA using better head components and stronger rods.. then it'd have higher revs and still more displacement than the SR. But I am WAAAYYY of topic this is suppose to be about the bastards who are out of th eknow and always demand we go SR!

I should drop a KA into my Silvia just to piss off the kids here. The SR is a pretty good motor but that doesn't make the KA junk, you will just have to rise above the ignorance.
