Headline reads Suspect bought bullets hours before Ariz. shooting spree

The 22-year-old man accused of trying to assassinate a U.S. congresswoman in a shooting spree that left six people dead and more than a dozen wounded bought his ammunition at a Walmart store hours before the rampage, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Jared Loughner,described by authorities and associates as a loner with deep distrust of the government was turned away from one Walmart when he tried to purchase ammunition but was sold the bullets at another Walmart nearby, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the case.

It was unclear why he was turned away from the first store, the Journal said.

Anybody else see the thinly veiled intent behind this fluff peice? Waiting period for ammunition? Ammunition purchase limits? Stay tuned!

I see this all as a part of the giant plot to take every single freedom that you Americans have, as the test ground to enforce it on the rest of the world. Everyone should have the right to bear arms, but some people have to prove their point that they are not to be trusted. In Reagan's case it was a result of Jim Brady who was also shot during the assasanation attempt. It's called The Brady Bill, http://www.bradycampaign.org/legislatio ... /bradylaw/. While I appreciate and certainly can respect peoples issues especially the victim(s) regarding violent crimes involving the use of a gun, it is deplorable the way that some of these same people wish to act upon it. It is and simply always has been reactionary as opposed to a proactive approach against the "criminal". It is the immoral mindset that turns defensive weaponry into the tools of murder. To disarm the law abiding American public and attempt to take their freedom away from the protection of family and property is completely disastrous.

Westboro Baptist Church, the Topeka church known for its inflammatory anti-gay protests, plans to picket the funerals of the six people gunned down in Arizona on Saturday.

In a flier posted on its web site, the controversial church writes, "THANK GOD FOR THE SHOOTER -- 6 DEAD!" The message continues:

God appointed this rod for your sins! God sent the shooter! This hateful nation unleashed violent veterans on the servants of God at WBC--hoping to silence our kind warning to obey God and flee the wrath to come.
The flier claims that the shooting of both a House member and a federal judge -- the latter of whom was killed -- is god's punishment for judicial and Congressional action against the WBC. "God sent the shooter to shoot you! And He's sitting in Heaven laughing at you!" the announcement reads.

In graphic language, it continues:

Your federal judge is dead and your (fag-promoting, baby-killing, proud-sinner) Congresswoman fights for her life. God is avenging Himself on this rebellious house! WBC prays for your destruction--more shooters, more dead carcasses piling up, young, old, leader and commoner--all. Your doom is upon you!
In December, Westboro Baptist Church picketed the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards. The group is known to display signs that say "God Hates f***" and "Thank God For Dead Soldiers."

I'm not jumping on the "incendiary political rhetoric caused this tragedy" conspiracy theory bandwagon, but there is a definite need to take it down a notch. As a nation, we have always been prone to irrational motivations, but we are heading toward some sort of flashpoint if we don't take a breath and collectively count to ten.
