I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM AN IDIOT

 alright here's the problem. the guy i bought my car from ripped out the factory wiring harness for the radio. i realy don't feel like taking my car somewhere and have them put in but i think i may need to. also when i was messing with it taking out his old amp wires and stuff i acidentally took out the relay. my seatbelts don't work when the key is out of the ignition and the clock resets. how do you straightwire the cd player and could anybody tell me how to put the relay back in the car? it's a little black box with a yellow and red wire. :ylsuper:help

You probably just blew the fuse. Check all of your fuses. Look for the dome light/radio constant fuse especially. 99.9% sure of it.

That fuse box has nothing to do with anything but the radio. Does your dome light work? I am telling you, this has to be a blown fuse man...

That box is a power filter for the aftermarket radio. It won't work even if you hook it up because you have blown the fuse that feeds it. It also feeds the seatbelt and the memory for the clock.

I installed stereos professionally for 6 years and saw this happen in a bunch of s13's...

I am telling you guys. This will fix it. Be sure to check the fuses under the hood also. I think there is a 20 amp in there that can cause this also. This happened on my s13 once after i jumped off a friend. (Never will I jump off another car. Blew my radio fuse behind the dash also. What a mess to pull out all my aftermarket radio stuff to get to that one. I swore it off after that. Nor would I accept a jump. Just a good push will do. ;) )

It would probably be a good idea to have a 12v test light handy since you can't always "see" a bad fuse. Check both sides of every fuse if you have to with the ign off. If you find one with power to one side but not the other, it's toast.

Now if someone could just fix my vibration problem that i posted in the nistech section, that would be nice. Hehehe....

another problem that camel forgot to mention is that the radio/dome fuse under the kick panel is a favorite location for aftermarket speakers and alarm systems. My S13 had an alarm installed at one point, but it had been taken out when I got it. The fuse clip itself was bent and only one side of the fuse was contacting metal.

I'll second that one, TA!

That causes alot of intermittant problems. We used to have these little things we called "fuse taps" that wrapped around the fuse leg to allow us toi tap power for installed cell phones (anyone remeber those?). they would bend the contacts out and when you removed them and put the fuse back in, it would intermittently lose contact because it wasn't tight on that side of the fuse.

my problem is that the little box isn't attatched to anything at all and that my seat belts, dome light, and clock don't work. i just need to know what i have to attatch it to.

The box is not a factory part of your car dude. Try to find a nissan part number on it......

Forget the box, check all of your fuses with a test light, and cover the bare wires in your dash.

Do these three things and it will fix the problem.

One person already has and fixed his problem.

That little box you are worried about came with an aftermarket radio. If you are worried about hooking it up, RED=IGN(12V+) YELLOW=CONSTANT(12V+) BLACK=CHASSIS/GROUND(12V-)

I hope you figure it out soon before the seatbelt wraps around your neck and chokes you for not listening. :poke (I used to hate my S13 for doing that when I got out of the car too fast and it wrapped over my head.):shocked2

Dude no apology needed man. Just trying to get you to focus. You had fallen in a rut with the little box on your mind as the problem.

Post a WTB on the B/S/T forum. You should be able to get the factory brackets for less than 20. Call the dealership near you and check the price. It might be cheap enough for you to get them there.

there is a diagram on the cover of each fuse box. but you need to check them with a test light to be sure.
