1) get 1/16th inch black plastic board2) template and cut.

My deck came with the trim piece but it wouldnt work for the shape of the 01+ sometimes you just have to make it yourself, and thats usually the fun part

And I just use the stock brackets to install the double din right? My friend is selling me his Pyle Audio Double din flip up dvd reciever. IDK anything about Pyle, is it a good brand? He is selling to me new for $200 and he got it for around $480, but has had it for 2 years and wants to get rid of it.

No, Pyle is absolute crap. Pyle, Pyramid, Lanzar. All crap.

It's probably the 7" model that can be gotten new for $180 at walmart.

Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cruthfield wants $40 for the adapter, $20 for the pocket, and $15 for the radio harness. Im going to call my car audio place monday and see if the $60 install includes the above. If so, then I'm going to get the car audio place to do it.

You're getting a new head unit right? If you order the head unit from them, they'll include the harness and pocket.

I believe that it's the same cutout, like Qxxx4 said get some ABS and start cutting. What happened to this thread? I've read the posts a few times and and can't figure out what the hell is going on.

did you make sure you have your steering wheel controls taken care of....

and are they making you a trim piece

and are they giving you the adapter to convert the nissan AM/FM socket to the panasonics input

i dont see why people think its so hard to install a deck, id never charge someone $100 to install it. Seriously, just try it yourself, its not hard at all and youll feel like a real man when you do something for yourself, and its not rocket science installing a deck. but i guess if youve got the $$$ why not, id rather spend that $$$ on more cool things. You did alot on your j30 alone and you were proud of it, so why not continue with the Q.

were here to help you out along the way, most of us know how to install our own decks.

I HATE when people do an install and dont get the steering wheel controls to work.

IMO, if you cant get them to work, just use the OEM HU with lineouts as your starting point

Changing out running lights isn't rocket science either...

LOL $150. wow. why do you keep calling them.......their going to mop the floor with you, they can smell your incompetence.

when i was planning out my system i went to my local place, they quoted me $600 for 2 10"s and a 600W amp in a box, i told them id install it myself and they said $500. Thats a reasonable price for GOOD components, but they werent, they said id have to spend at least $1000 for good components. Thats why I went used and couldnt be happier.

$150 for the part alone is rediculous

WOW. lol.

I posted this help thread in the car audio section as well. Are two 12" JL W1's priced at $280 total a good deal with a $200 JL amp?
