i need a car that can beat a stock v6 mustang

my friend has a v6 stang and i have a 92 240 im looking a building a car that will beat him i looked a buying a impreza and dropping a ej 20 in it and modding it a little. What are your thoughts on this,if i build the impreza ill be selling my car cheap

Which Impreza's are we talking about? WRX or 2.5RS, cause only one came with an EJ20 stock, and if he is talking about swapping then he is talking about swapping an EJ20 into a 2.5rs......which is ridiculously expensive.

As for the relevance of this post.......geezuz christ dude, if that is all you want to beat then sell your car to someone who can appreciate it. I haven't met a single V6 stang yet that I couldn't eat alive and that was AT THE TRACK and WITHOUT the turbo! If you really want to have fun turbo the KA or drop an redtop into it and run with Cobra's!

I assume he is talking about buying a GC8 and putting an EJ207 motor in it. We have a guy in our Impreza club that is trying to perform that swap/conversion. Unfortunatly what is giving him problems is the drive train modifications. Can it be done? Yes. Is it easy? No.

You might be better served tunning up your 240 and possibly modifying it. I remember taking on V-6 Mustangs with my 240 and not have a lot of problems beating them. Imagine what a turbo'ed KA or swapped 240 would do to them.

ok if you MUST.. lose some weight, maybe some better breathing equipment and that should do it. if you're talkn autocross/time trial track racing the 240 will win cuz mustangs are fat and suck a$$ at handling anyway... [ive seen it happen a bajillion times] but do what you like man

Well my only thought to add to this thread is that while you are building your great V6 stang beater what is your friend going to be doing? My guess is that he will get another car either because the mustang is breaking down all the time or he will just be tired of it. So then what? You built a car to beat a slow stock car that your friend does not own any longer.

Only aspire to be great not to beat your friend’s car at the time. For real get some real goals...like to get into the 13's in the 1/4 mile or 300hp to the wheels then you will have something real to work off of.
