you'd be surprised how "fast" the 1999+ v6 stangs are in 5 speed, they'll run a mid 15 on your ***, learning to launch is key, get the car out of the hole quick and you should be able to beat him

as for me, im still figuring out how to beat an '03 Cobra :P

My 240sx with a RB20DET will kill stock Mustang GT's easily. Spent about $2000 for everything. Can't go wrong with an RB.

The funny thing about this thread, is that all he would have to do to beat the v6 mustang, is to race her down a road with lots of corners. If you are really concerned. I spent 5K on an RB25DET swap. munstangs are nothing but specs in the rear view mirror now. :)

The other way to beat a "V6 stang" is with a baseball bat smeared in feces.

Flaming another NICO member is never a good thing, but I *do* think that the original poster's goal is very misguided.

Why spend potentially quite a bit of money just to have a faster car than your friend?

Why not just buy the car that *you* like and not worry about whether it's faster than your friend's car?

99.9% of the time there's always going to be someone with a faster car, unless you're Jay Leno. Live with it. Enjoy your car. I'm willing to bet that this guy isn't going to be taking this to the track, but I'm not even touching that one.

Fred. The fact the kid is considering to buy another car for the sole purpose of defeating a friend in an anemic V-6 stang while already owning a nicer car that could do it is somewhat comical.

I think the mild ribbing was meant to convey that beating a V-6 stang is about as impressive as beating a Toyota Echo. And while a stock 240 is equally anemic as a V-6 'stank, a 240 can be easily improved and also has an advantage in both handling and reliability.

The obvious suggestion is to invest a little money into the 240 he has now rather than buying another car. Subie's a fun project car, but if his goal is to defeat his friend, there are cheaper ways to do it.

I beat mustang GT's in my car btw. The key is not necessarily good take-off because I get owned in that area, but having one of the fastest car 60-120 does help.

You own a car that will easily beat the V6 stank. But as we all see you don't deserve the 240. Sell it immediately.

I can't remember ever being worried about a stupid mustang. Not even competition in my book. Then again....i have a few.....ummmm.....we'll say.....bolt ons. :D

why spend 5k on the ej20 swap when you can spend 3k on a sr swap. It may only have 50 more hp stock, but it's about its tuning potential in the future.

Yeah, it's about what it's easily capable of with minimal money/effort.

Altiman,I have seen people spend 10k for this kind of swap. It usually involves making the car a 6spd.

i have a friend with an EJ20 in his 2.5RS and my pretty much stock SR'd car (10psi, Greddy VSPL, 3" exhaust) owns his *** after the first 60 feet (damn awd launches are hard to beat on street tires) :D

you could be right on the price bud, actually you probably are. I was just trying to show that a sr swap would be cheaper than the ej swap. I was just throwing out a rough guess, i'd just buy a wrx if it were gonna cost me half the price of one to swap it into a different car anyways. Atleat you getta warranty if you buy a new wrx.

Hey guys, I think he do not like his 240 anymore therefore he is looking for something different. (Maybe he cannot handle RWD in the snow or rain). In this case whatever we say will not make a difference. So for god sake let him do whatever he wants. Plus he has no limitation in spending... If I was in his finential situation I probably buy ferary or something like that and stop woring about beating COROLA or somthing faster.

No one here is stopping him from doing what he wants with his 240 or Impreza. I think that a lot of people here have put into perspective what options this guy could take.

Sorry for being absent in this thread, but to give you an update, I ride a mildly modded cbr F3.

To the member who originally posted: if you're obsessed with beating a mustang, why stop there? Get a decent sportbike and you will have the quickest and fastest machine on the road. How you use the ultimate in power-to-weight ratio is up to you, so don't go get yourself killed.

thank you for all the help or jokes (however you look at it.i found a website with skylines for sale around 25k-35k older ones im prob going to look at getting one of those and redoing the 240 i just found out the impreza is a fwd car ill stick with what i have.the only problem is the car has 199955 miles on it and i dont want to invest alot of money into a car thats going to have one thing go after another. i found rb motors for 2500 out od a r32 but i know the sr slides right in,and the s15 frontend conversion looks sweet on it.if i do this can anyone help me with doing a swap mostly the wiring harness?i cant wait for summer to be gone so i can roll this pig into the spray booth and paint it.. Thank You Dan
