i regularly use 2 remotes, one for tv on/off and the cable remote for channels. everything else is video game consoles and all i have to do is switch the input with the tv remote.
Cable here blows, especially where we just moved. They want nearly $200 a month for Cable and Internet... and their DVRs suck as well. I'm not a huge fan of satellite(mainly for the fact I can't watch TV when it storms) but for $90 a month we get HD Dish Network with multi-room HD DVR, home phone, and DSL. Dish network is quality if you can live with the fact that it's still satellite...

The harmony remote has it's advantages, I will still use it most likely because I have to use 3 remotes to watch TV... It's a very simple remote to setup and will even control my 360 but it sucks when I have to scroll through 5 pages of commands on the remote to turn my TV off

I cannot stress enough how much worse Comcast is than DirecTV. DTV has more HD channels, better quality feeds, far better hardware and significantly better customer support. Comcast (or any cable provider for that matter) has the ability to rape those of up who don't have a clear shot of the southern sky. I would gladly pay DTV more than what they would normally charge if they had a magical way to connect me.

Doesn't work with all my devices. Speaking of consoles, why didn't the original xbox remote have the ability to turn it on and off? The last thing I want to do when I'm sitting on the couch and decide I want to play old-school xbox is get up off my lazy a** and turn the system on. Foolish on Microsoft's part.

Which remote do you have? I can almost guarantee it can be made easier than that. Also, when you turn the tv off, aren't you turning everything else off as well?

I've already made a few adjustments to where the buttons are located but it's still not the best. I haven't tried to set it up where it turns everything else off because I leave my home theater and receiver on. It's doable but it's very annoying with this particular one... my father in law has one of the touch screen ones and it's much easier to get everything set the right way.

Should be easy with that remote too. Go into the software on your pc, and go to the devices section. Then, select the receiver (or whatever other device you want to leave on) and click customize or preferences (not sure because I'm not at my home pc). There should be an option that reads "turn this device off when not in use" with a yes/no selection. Then, that device will remain on even when you push the off button at the top of the remote. I've got my DVR on always (set this way on both my old 880 and the newer harmony one) and my parents' DVR I set to remain on (same remote as you).

Fine, I'll admit it. I was a little iffy about that one, but I had to try. So, I gambled. But now I'm paying the price with liquid doo all in my pants. Wait, wrong kind of accident?

Odd, I've had that urge all day. Yours, not mine, that is. Mine is boring.

It took the rain for that to happen? And why isn't Michele fanning you both and feeding you the grapes? Time for an upgrade.

dammit, so i dl'd this app on my bb. the way i understood it was that it would work like "visual voice mail", just free. not the case. it replaced my voicemail greeting with this gay crap message, and it sends me a f***ing e-mail every time i miss a call, then another one if a voice mail was left. i hate it. i uninstalled it in "app world". it still shows in app world but has an "uninstalled" status. but it still has that f*****y message and i still get stupid e-mails all the f***ing time.

screw this, i'm going home to cry about it

Speaking of your girl, she referenced Handlebars by Flobots the other day and I hadn't heard the song in years. And now it's playing on Pandora for me. Odd. Thought I'd share.
