I hate cops

Wow, just read this whole thread. Lot of arguing going on!

Here's my opinion, which seems to be shared by many of you:

Cops are people. There are good people and there are bad people. Therefore there are good cops and there are bad cops and there are a whole lot who are somewhere in between. Generalizing anything about anyone is always pointless. Everyone is different and generalizing is just a way for the weak-minded to easily sort out the world in a way that pleases them.

Some cops do bad things. Some racially profile. Some take out their aggression on innocent people. Some have total power trips and abuse their position.

On the other hand, a cop could save your life. A cop could be killed protecting you and your friends and family. A cop could pull you over for speeding which might not seem like a big deal, but maybe you really were endangering people.

Cops have a dangerous and stressful job. It is wrong when they are an a$$ to someone, but consider how many people have probably been bad to them that same day. It may seem like harassment when a cop gives you a hard time about a pocket knife, but maybe someone on a seemingly normal traffic stop did pull a knife on them or maybe even stabbed them sometime in the past.

If a cop does something wrong to you, do something about it. If you did something wrong and got caught, deal with it. Just don't generalize about people, it's called bigotry and is generally frowned upon and easily proven wrong.

Any adivce on fighting a BS ticket? i made sure i was doing the speedlimit and my friend ahead of me knew i was, anyway i can use my friend as a whitness of my innocience? if i was really speeding i would face the music, but the fact i did not do wrong, pi$ses me off

Traffic court judges are great people. be early to your court date and be respectful to the judge when you ask to have your ticket reduced or dismissed. a little courtesy can go a very long way. judges dont necessarily need to hear some elaborate story, just an honest admittance and a willingness to be careful and mindful of traffic laws. myself and many people i know have had great success in traffic court by simply being polite and honest. good luck NIGHTfall_240!

PIGS!!! Ahh man, I really hope no one on this board is a cop, cause I'de beat the snot out of em. Been to jail? I've been in twice . . two over nighters. The exhaust is worth the hassle, they can go screw themselves . . you know . .my dream is to have a live high speed chase on t.v. where I'm driving the DAISHIN JGTC racing Silvia and have about 15 cops behind me . .and i'm smoking em, and then I pull out my dual barrel and go berserk . .AHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!

yeah, so basically . .*UCK the cops!

If you insist on a REAL officer, my $$$ would be on the smallest, weakest officer in your local precinct. But you'll just have to find out for yourself. :rolleyes

SmithSR but what about when the cop shows up to the court and tries to say i was doing that and more, wont the judge take his word over mine and my friends? Im only a 17 year old kid with my red sports car that i had on the road for 2months and my first ticket was within 5days of driving it. But honestly, i was doing right, the cop just wanted to pull the whole club over. The kid that was driving in front of me says he was doing 45 (speedlimit 40) and he was getting farther then me, cant that be some what a proof of me doing the legal limit? thanx for your help

Nope - If that was the case, every time I was ever cited I'd have a buddy show up saying we were traveling together at the legal limit... Go to court, be polite and respectful, explain your case, and take your lumps.

Besides, your buddy would then be incriminating himself at 45 in a 40.

I highly doubt you'd get cited twice in two months for doing absolutely nothing wrong...

GROW UP. show some respect for once. i know it's hard to understand when you're young and stupid, and the cool thing to do is to gripe and complain about cops not letting you break traffic laws. but it's time to grow up a little. for some of you, it's time to grow up alot. also, if you're gonna make rude, useless statements or empty threats, and then not be man enough to answer when somebody calls BS on it, dont contribute to nico forums. go act tough in the hallways of your highschool where you might still have some credibility. and then grow up. hatin on cops shows how ignorant you really are.

FYI Holistic - I wasn't referring to you with the "woodshed" comment. However, I'll explain: The "woodshed" is where your daddy took you to whup your a$$ (IF you grew up in the South like me). Nothing clever, and certainly not made up by me.

And there were NO empty threats. Someone said they'd "beat some a$$", and I was just calling their bluff. Think about it - How seriously can you take someone who claims to be able to beat up a uniformed officer? Please. Even a cop-hater can see that's just a stupid statement.
