I agree with you all...it may look decent (the rear fenders need more flair IMO) but it's still a Hyundai! Not a fan of Korean stuff...looks like they can replicate anything...

Folks, of all the things I commend Nissan on, i commend them on building a transmission and engine that seems to defy abuse. Genesis seems like a G-35 wanna be. I don't beleive the car will be as reliabel as a G-35. Most of all, can this car, even its V-8, hang with the 350Z or G-35 on a track? Remember, horsepower does not always translate into track wins---handling does.

Probably better than my old 58 Ford but if I were you I'd stick with Infiniti

Interesting to see the reactions to the Genesis from various communities.

Mercedes-Benz

"The Genesis is a great car that feels more like an S-Class or an LS460 than a sports sedan like an E350 or A6. The small misses I mention above will probably not swing the pendulum for the target audience. They're gonna march in droves over to this car like ants on sugar. Compared to its intended competition (Cadillac, Buick, Lincoln) Genesis is great bang for the buck ($42,000 for a loaded V8)."http://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=257826

"+1... I couldn't have said it better!!!! And to the OP, if you decide to go with the Genesis, please post your reviews as I'd love to read them... Sure, I enjoy my W211 but in no way do I put it on a pedestal beyond criticism/comparison..."http://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?p=2959816

BMW

"I have been driving BMWs for the last 10 years. 2 weeks ago, I traded in my BMW 528i for a Hyundai Genesis. I test drove a 550i, LS460, and MB E550. I bought the Genesis on the spot right after test driving it. I would have never considered a Hyundai before the Genesis. So far I am very happy with the car. I have about 1,500 miles on it. The ride is very smooth, quiet, and balanced. I will say it's between a Lexus (soft) and BMW (handling); genesis is more on the luxury side."

Glowing review: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.c...eview/http://www.e90post.com/forums/...nesis

Lexus

"I was with my G/F and showed her the car without telling her what it was. She commented it looked very good. I told her it was the new luxury Hyundai and she was like "a Hyundai" and I explained how this car is REAL DEAL."http://www.clublexus.com/forum...ge=42

"But, in the meantime, even with a few shortcomings, those who have wanted a Hyundai-badged Lexus have just gotten their prayers answered. Happy Shopping. "http://www.clublexus.com/forum...s+3.8

"Well, for those who didn't believe me when I said the Genesis drove like something between a GS and an LS.

Edmunds seems to get the same impression, and took it a step further.http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...el..1.* "

Lincoln

"The 375hp Genesis V8 isn't a pretty machine but the craftsmanship, engine, 6-speed auto, and suspension tuning was amazing. Why anyone would buy this over a Lincoln MKS (same price, maybe even less) is beyond me.

You guys should check one out. But only the V8 model, it has nicer leather and the obvious difference under the hood. That's amazing car for $35k.

Hyundai made the Lincoln I've always wanted. Awesome.

I even like the styling, even if its generic. Consider me a Hyundai fan now. Screw Lincoln and their lame-o reskinned Fords."http://www.lincolnsonline.com/...60199

Volkswagen

"I have one right now. The car overall is amazing especially for the price. There is plenty of power and the car has minimal road noise while driving. Great car"http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3981421

Infiniti

"But at the end of the day it is still a crap car."

"I still have very low opinions of Kia and Hyundai. I've heard and seen to much garbage from them.I'm open to improving my opinions of them and FURD among other car makers, but right now, they're all still in the ditches."

"Hyundai's are crap. The girl I'm seeing now has a Hyundai and she can't wait to get rid of it."

"a hyundai is a hyundai. its just that this is a hyundai that costs 42k."

"I dont care how fast it is its still a Hyundai!!!"

Yesterday I went to the Nissan/Infiniti dealer. Fortunately the Hyundai dealer is right beside them. I went to check out the Genesis. Let me tell you something. I walked around in the dealership with my wife and saw the corner of my eyes the manager pointing to us. Few seconds later a dealer guy showed up. We talked about the Genesis as we approached to my G. We were few steps away from the G and I asked if I can take it out for a spin. The dude like. wow that is an expensive car. Are you sure you can afford it? Since you did not hear yur tone it doesn't come out as good as he said it. So I told him hmm. I think I could of but I buy car not just based on the car. Based on many things include dealer/buyer relationship. As I can see that would not go to good so I told him forgot it, when I opened my car and we sat in it.

Saw his jaws dropping since he realized I could of buy one. I rolled the window down and told him.

" Here is my free advise. Don't try to sell a luxury car as you selling the Accent or other hyunday. You will end up as the GM dealers around here. BTW I am on the market to replace my G with something newer. I am not a fan of the genesis since the interior looks like meant for 60 years old ladies.

Thank you for your great experience at the Hyundai dealer. You'll never see me again."

Went to the Infiniti dealer and I think I picked out my new G. For 4k less then I would of paid for a Genesis with no good history behind it Perhaps no history at all. I've talked to the Infiniti dealer and told him the story. He said there was 4 G 35 on the lot sold thanks to Hyundai. They went to look at the Genesis and they saw the G's on the other lot walked to them and never looked back. G's are cheaper here and the car is already prooven.

Car ownership is not just about the car. It is a lot more. See how it goes for the people when they try to get something fixed under warranty, sometimes not even under warranty. It will be the same experience for the service then I had with the dealer. Btw in the price I paid for the G. I've got Free tint and free oilchange 3 times. I put the deposit down but told them to hang tight, Not sure if I would switch from black to blue onyx. My heart still pumping harder when I see the black G. I have to get a sleep or 2 on it.

I would've liked to see the look on the his face when you stepped into your car. What a douchebag, must've been new huh lol.

But individuals salespeople and even entire dealerships shouldn't stop you from getting the car you want. Don't let a few idiots ruin it for you. But it seems like you knew you'd be happier with the G anyway.

Which dealership was it?

Guelph , Canada

To be honest with you. I would not buy it anyways. I don't really like the style. I think the interior needs some update. The center console has a dial buttom and it is huge to select modes. Just behind the stick. The thing is like 2.5-3" diameter. These are small things but over all the car does notr have a history and I don't feel like being a mule. Especially not for 4-5k more then the G cost. Right now BMW335i is on sale and give you 6-7k off the price. That puts the 2 car in the same price range. zozo

I got the same treatment at the Hyundai dealer in Tempe.

I pointed out my G a couple times just to get a to drive it? I had to ask to be added to the list of people interested in the 4.6 V8? I almost asked if they wanted to sell any of them LOL

Its almost like Hyundai doesn't think they can sell a 40k car LOL I guess they are not used to our UPSCALE traffic ZOZO

Hehehehe

No kidding. I mean I know I am bad with testdriving almost anything possible.

It does seem they are even surprised if somebody actually would take it out for a testdrive. I think they got out overthere wihout proper training. I'd say if they don't change dramaticlly they would loose a huge chunk of money what they put in the development.

There is a white GT-R in the showroom you can see that in the picture. Under the Infiniti(MT Fuji) sign on the building.

The one with the happy face could be mine. Blue Onyx g35.heheh

HEHE i love how the Hyundai dealer is right next to the Infiniti one. I don't see whats with the Hyundai bashing, last time i checked Infiniti's were cheap knockoffs a while ago, I think Hyundai actually has done better than Infiniti has in the past, Hyundai has come along way to making good cars from the cheap ones they used to make 10+ years ago, and have made huge improvements in such a short period of time.

Me too, when the 135I came out I went to the BMW dealership next to Infiniti while my car was being serviced played in a 135.... all the 135's were sold but they offered to let me drive a 128? I declined.

I could see a Ferrari or Porsche dealership giving me a second look but Hyundai? please

This has nothing to do with the Genesis, but Hyundai's rep. My wife has owned a 03 Tiburon GT for the last several years (second owner, female) and i must say that i am impressed with the car. I too thought that Hyundai's were not that great but after putting some serious time behind the wheel of the Tiburon i like it. We have had zero problems with it over the years, just regular maintenance. I could see how one would go bad rather quickly if someone neglected it though, which is how i think Hyundai got it's bad rep. The previous owner put had an Injen CA intake, cat back exhaust (quite, high flow) and a ECU tune done to it and it is peppy. Nice sound, comfortable on long trips, all around nice car. Very fun to drive...

I personally will never own a Hyundai, but i respect them as an auto manufacturer.

I just don't think they are at the level of Lexus..

and they way they are trying to sell and market the car... Like selling a Ls460 at a Toyota Dealer!

I think If they came out with a new sister company... Like Toyota-Lexus Nissan-Infiniti Honda-Acura, They would do much better with the car! Also would give them time to change their rep... Oh yea I forgot one! VW-Audi (crap)

Some of the photos in this thread have it badged with a winged crest kind of like Bently. Hyundai almost rolled out thier own luxery brand but at the last min did not. It will probably depend on how well this beauty sells.,

Hyundai decided not to go with a luxury brand and to just try and improve Hyundai's image as a whole. It's pretty expensive to set up another dealer network and the Genesis would be thousands more if they had gone that route.

The Genesis badge is being used in the Asian markets. Hyundai might be giving it some time in the states though. It might show up in a few years. But you're most likely going to see them anyway since some will just buy the original badges online.

I cringe whenever someone says the badge is like Bentley's. Bentley looks just like so many other spread-winged symbols seen over the last 7,000 years. At least Hyundai went their own direction.

I think they should of go ther route what Nissan, Acura, Toyota went. The reason what you've already hear or see. Since they went with the luxury brand. They have dealerships and crew who got trained to work with costumers.

Total ownership experience. That's all they've missing.

Out of curiousity. If you take it in for service, what do you get? Get a loaner, get a loaner like accent, sonata or get a ride home?

Tampa:

Using a different brand name to sell the car was a hot and confusing issue in Hyundai before the car was rolled out. It was the same as the GTR argument in nissan whether it should be badged an Infiniti or a Nissan or if Infiniti should have their own version.

I think the sonata is like the camry... the azera is like the avalon and the Genesis should be where the Gs Lexus is... IMHO But I think that is how they would pair up!

Yeah, oups. I did not know. I thought that is a Genesis too. They look the same to me.I really don't know much about Hyundai. I just walked in and out from the dealer. I posted the pictures how close the dealers are. I tried to get the Hyundai sign in the picture but I have no skill taking pictures and no pations. Anyways I think the mazda 6 is a better looking one for a same amount.

OK now after seen that video... The Hyundai is a :luzr For sure!

The Gs 350 beats it to 60mph... That means the G35 beats it 6 tenths of a sec.

I would like to see what they say when they pair the Lexus Gs460 to the Genesis...

I bet the price wont matter at that point!

Yeah I checked it out. 5.9 sec what Edmunds got from the v8. Like GM they have to have a 6.0 engine to produce 400hp and still slow.
