Ha my car sounds just right, its quite on low rpms but when i climb higher rpm levels the meaner it gets, my friends say they wish they had an exhaust like mine, bc mine sounds like the engine is producing the sound according to my friends opinion

-yes, everyone wants to be like mike :pface

Still leaves you with a delima.... the hole reason for your intake being directed behind your driverside headlight is less heat... i dont know about you but i dont like heat when it comes air passage.

your buddies might have thrown a intake on their civics or eclipse's and theres a world of difference in sound but our ka's arnt high reving motors, were the torque SOB's that like to pull them high revers. :ylsuper

being loud is a curse, believe me. it was a major factor in my last two tickets, plus on the highway when your at 3ki n 5th, all you're gonna hear is your intake/exhaust. i also got a 2.5" catback with a dual tip muffler on it, i lvoe the sound, but it gets too loud soemtimes. i also removed the resonator and that made it louder

i agree that the louder your car the more annoying it will get. yeah its nice, but not when u are going 65 on the hwy and have to turn the stereo way up just to hear it. or yell to talk to eachother.

I dont think this is close to rigth. first you ment "whole reason"Second why would the exhuast side of the engine bay have less heat? I am fairly sure that the KA's intake is run that way because of the chassy being built in japan. i.e. The SR's intake is on that side so thats where the box mounts are, and the battery trays are welded to the other side..

Move your battery and plumb a short ram or CAI to the passenger side. Shot ram will put the filter right behind the headlight just like on the other side, but minus the exhuast heat.

Plus a short ram means less piping for the air to go through, which means faster throttle response. Yay.

if the poor friggin kid isnt scared away yet... hey just go to pep boys or autozone or somethin, get a regular cone filter and a MAF adapter. tear out all the plastic air box junk plus the lil Y pipe, and toss it to the corner of the garage. the cone filter will give you the sound sound youre looking for. its pretty easy to hook up, and itll cost about 25 bucks

edit> and quit being a bunch of tools guys this a 240sx forum, you were all new at some point, leave the guy alone its his friggin car

this is what I did mainly for money reasons. It cost me 20 bucks for the filter at advanced, plus like 35 total for the homemade battery relocation. this setup sounds really mean when you get onto the gas and offers great throttle response, not to mention cleans up the bay quite a bit. I think this is one of the best ways to get a intake setup without spendin lots of cash for name brand stuff. If you are interested on how I did all this just send me a PM or somethin and Ill be glad to get more pics and let you know everything I did. heres the pic too

Hope this helped,Josh

^--looks nice, but what did you do about those hoses that attach to the filter?

...and BTW, Ain't isn't an 'official' english word. It's in the dictionary as a slang word, which are not to be used in proper english.

formula for loudest "intake":

Take tubing, MAF, filiter and anthing else involving the stock intake and chuck it in the trash. Buy a stand alone fuel managment system with programable fuel maps (non-MAF based) and just leave the throttle body wide open with nothing in front of it.

Sure it will cost more than $1000 but you will get louder and faster :D

mouse cant get in when the car is off and the throttle is shut ;)

well I guess I could put up a new thread if enough people really cared. but for you guys Ill just give you the basics. It started with me reading the custom CAI deal on the 240sx.org installs page. Then I kinda modified it to work a little better by using real intake tubing. you were very close about the civic intake deal, it actually was part of my brothers intake from his 94 accord that he wrecked. It already had two bungs on it for the vaccume lines, so I just cut it at what I figured to be the correct place and used the other parts from the intake to basically make it work and look like the intakes you guys spent $180 on. Here are some more pics to help you guys understand how I did everything.

http://images.cardomain.com/me...l.jpgthe filter in this pic above actually caused vaccume problems so I just reconected the hose from there into the other bung on the pipe.

heres the pic

and heres the last one with the battery relocation distributor block I used along with 2guage power wire run through the firewall.

My buddy actually cut the hole in there but I am totally fine with it being that big since Ill need the room to mess with the intercooler piping. If anyone wants to know more about the bat relocation just let me know, I can get more pics.

I like your setup except for the chassis hole. I had seen the install on the 240 installs, but I'm thinking of going turbo so it's kinda pointless.

thanks nolaws4evr, makes me wonder if the aftermarket 240 intake piping would slide smoothly down that hole. btw electric fan/s? looks like you got a good bit more room to play in there.

okay, heres a pic of the 2guage power wire i used.

in one of the above pics you can see the distribution block with several wires coming in. I got that for like 15 on ebay, then like 20 for the wire on ebay, put the bat in the trunk with the stock tie downs by drilling holes and grounded to the floor. very simple and cheap but yet effective. if you have to have pics of the bat or the distribution block just let me know.

Josh

ps. slidings14, heres a pic of the other view of the electric fan. all i did was ground out the realay to make it come on with the ignition. also uses the stock wires and stuff so its nice and clean.
