How are you guys getting these deals at invoice price?? I am looking for a base G37S with paddle shifting and I am wondering what a good price I should fight for on this specific vehicle?? Also, are you guys getting these deals with finance charges as well out the door??[/quote]Basically just work through the internet departments. Start by getting a quote for your vehicle through one dealer. Contact another dealer, ask them if they can beat that price, rinse and repeat 8-10 times. The key is being patient. It took me going through a ton of dealers before I got the price I wanted and the car I wanted.
Eventually you'll run across someone that will be willing to sell close or below invoice I think. It helps to have a lot of dealers nearby one another competing. Case in point there are about five within 50 miles of where I live. I also checked out of state too.
In my case, I let them know exactly when I was purchasing, how I was paying, what finance deals I might take, and how I wanted to deal with my trade in. Being flexible about payment, times, etc. is always a plus too I think. While I did give them a time I was looking to buy, I made it clear that if they made a tempting deal, I was willing to come in and buy that week.
Not sure if this helps or not, but I let them know that my trade-in wasn't a deal breaker if they didn't take it. When I showed up I worked the deal there with them. Gave them a bit more urgency I suppose to give me a decent deal on the trade.
Use things to your advantage. If they have a car that is close, but say the wrong color, work the price down. Same for any other options. If they smell or sense that you are desperate to buy, they won't move as much on the price.
Know your credit before going in if you are paying via financing and be realistic. I had good credit, so it didn't matter. But it might make a difference in your case. For me, I got the low financing deal for 60 months, no money down.
Lastly it helps to be courteous and honest with them at all times. Don't be a prick, try to understand their side, work the relationship angle, etc.
Don't be discouraged either...some dealers/sales people are much more difficult to work with than others. If you run into someone that isn't helpful/flexible, try to contact another salesperson. Most of the internet departments seem to have 1-2 people in them at the very least.
Remember, sales are super slow, people are foreclosing on homes, there's a ton of alternatives (1-series, 335i, C-class, etc.). You have the advantage and it's not unreasonable given the economic climate to get them to go down on the price...just keep working them down in a polite and friendly way.
Good luck!
