Yeah, its stupid how its different country to country, considering its the exact same stuff.

We have 100 RON in a few places, but I don't think many people bother with it for the extra price, especially with fuel prices the way they currently are.

I just got back from a 160 mile each way trip, almost all highway. I averaged 19.9mpg. Not very impressive considering I wasn't pushing it. It was very hot though - with the heat wave going on right now. Still, I would hope to get a lot better mileage. As someone else pointed out in this thread, the mileage on this car doesn't make much sense. A friend of mine just got a BMW 335i and he gets between 22 and 26mpg most of the time. I get about 14mpg city, and it looks like 20mpg highway, and I don't really push the car much. Love it otherwise, but the mileage is something that Infiniti could have done a lot better on.

Well, just got back from my trip, which was 400km each way, and got all the way there on exactly half a tank, but filled up again for the trip back. I averaged 11.3 km per litre of fuel which i was very, very impressed with considering i pushed it at times due to totally vacant remote highways.

Gas are supposed to drop a little soon

2.59!! at QuikTrip that i normally pump at. -- regular unleaded just add 10 cents for the next 2 octanes

you can go on Gasbuddy.com to find what pumps have low prices in your area or check on averages

Andy,

What's the gas price in AUS?

It seems to be a good place to live. I remember my sister was out there for 3 months. She told me that time almost everything was cheaper then in Europe. Again it was like 1988-1990 or so. And again Europe is one of the most expensive place to live or even just visit.

BTW you did good on the trip with the gas.

Yea, the gas price is important to be low. I don't really care about how much I pump in the car. But the gas price built in almost everything. So if that goes up everything else will go up. Now, that sucks. Big time.

Fuel prices are currently pretty high, but for regular unleaded your looking at between 110-120 cents per litre and about 8-10 cents more for 98 premium. 95 premium is generally only a few cents more than regular. Tuesdays are generally the cheapest, though on weekends it can be up to 20 cents more expensive. Fuel as probably doubled in price in Australia in the last 10 years.

Yeah, great place to live. We have a huge import scene due to being 'relatively' close to Japan, being RHD etc etc. We still have a 'low import scheme' so its not as if the roads are cluttered with second hand Jap imports, but out of any country outside of Japan, I'd say we would probably have the most on a per population basis.

That's not bad. We have it here around Toronto just under a dollar. Considering the Aus $ is lower then Can $. I'd say it is close enough. Man check Europe out they have no luck. It's about just under $2.

That weekend thing, that's horrible they pump up the price of the gas by 20 cents. It used to be higher here also on weekends and holidays. Not anymore it's steady. Goes up and down couple of cents.

Yea, the second hand business in Europe is big from Japan. I had a scooter it was a rebuilt engine from Japan. Man those things fly. It was really good in city(downtown).

Ok so maybe a little off topic, but last week my wife accidentally put RegUnleaded 87 and before all i used was premium 92...........Some people swear by reg Unleaded, but after my experience i cant even say the mialege was better, and the drive sucked balls !! It didnt pick up like im used to, it wasnt peppy and i couldnt fly by a car on the hwy within 3 seconds like i normally do..........once the tank got down to a Qtr, i filled up w/ Shell V-power octane 94.......Night and Day !! will never go back to anything else, it felt like i added an intake and got a tune up ! I dont have exact #'s, but milaege was better w/ premium

reg unleaded sucks !

'07 G35X and so far I am averaging around 20mpg, mostly city driving. Put about 400 miles on it going to the lake a couple weeks ago and was around 24mpg, all highway. Hoping it will get better.

silvee811:

You didn't mention the year of your G35 or whether its an automatic or manual?I have an 06 G35 6 speed and on my last three fillups I got 24.48 MPG, 24.42 MPG and 23.30 MPG.

My best MPG was on a trip to Florida from New Jersey this past January where the three best fillups were 28.83 MPG from South Carolina to Florida, 27.30 MPG from Virginia to New Jersey, and 26.27 MPG from Georgia to North Carolina.

Some factors to keep in mind for those that are dissatisfied with their MPG results.

6 speed transmissions have an overdrive in 6th that allows the engine to have a lower RPM at a given MPH. For example my RPM's at 80MPH is exactly 3000 RPM. If you have a 5 speed automatic or an AWD X vehicle your MPG is going to be lower. I also use regular 87 octane gasoline which I believe provides better fuel economy than Premium? Temperature and humidity also effect gas mileage. Try filling up early morning when its still cool out. There are some very strong opinions on this topic but as a 60 something who has driven stick shift vehicles for over 40 years I could care less if a Yugo beats me taking off from a traffic light. The G35 has more than ample HP so if a few HP is lost by using regular unleaded who cares. I certainly don't! I'd rather reduce my fuel bill as my commute is over 100 mi per day.

20 consistently. Can't seem to keep my foot off the accelerator. LOLI'd bet 23-24 is attainable due to the incredible torque this car has.

Model : 2003-4dr sedan, automatic transmissionMods: NoneFuel: premium 92 (had to fill up only twice since i purchased)Driving type: I am a very conservative driver..i did zoom out of the signal light a couple of times only to tease the mustang Other than that i have never tested the power and capability of my G 35.I was hoping to get close to 14-15 MPG. I get about 32 MPG (city) on my mazda 626 and i do not drive my infiniti any different than how i drive my mazda.

Its about 105F in kansas. Does that hamper the MPG?

I have an 07 G35 MT6 Coupe and I get 15.54 mpg around town. The sticker claims 19 mpg city and 26 highway. I don`t ever see it getting 19mpg in the city unless it`s going down hill. The claim of 26 mpg on the highway seems highly unlikely also.I have a six speed 96 Corvette with 400hp that gets 17 mpg in the city and 28 to 31 on the highway at 70mph in 6th gear. Had I known that the G35 MT6 was that bad on gas I would have purchased another used Vette with a 6 speed trans.

My 96 LT4 Vette with a 6 speed transmission tachs out at 1475 rpms at 70 mph and gets 28 to 31 miles per gallon and I`m pushing a bit over 400 horses. Not bad for a V8.

Try using reg unleaded 87 octane on your next long trip of about 400 mi or more. When taking off shift at 3k RPM in each gear

Use cruise control at 70 to 80 mph in 6th gear & I can almost guarantee your MPG will improve.

The newer gens of Corvettes have a huge overdrive gear which is how they get the low RPMs and good gas mileage while cruising.

Just put down 25.5 MPGs over 450 miles.

And while we're on the topic of OD gears and RPMs and what not, has anyone else with an auto in manual mode noticed that once you hit cruising speed and you put it back to auto that the tach drops maybe 200 RPMs. Anyone know why? There was a thread long ago about some Power Mode switch in Australia--is this Power Mode without a switch?

I just got 19.5 with mixed driving...more city than highway though. But if I didn't flatten the gas so much, it would be better
