So I developed an awesome case of rod knock on the freeway on the way to work. Oil pressue is nill at idle, oil temps are around 120* centigrade under my uber light throttle. I win the ****ing prize.

Vid:

Only question now is to rebuild or part out and buy a new one.

So I guess your irregular oil pressure was trying to tell you something huh? JK!!

Good luck with your rebuild. rod knock sucks.

Ha! I don't think I'm savvy enough to rebuild. I'll likely part this block out and buy a "new" one.

rebuilding an engine really isnt that bad. Just take your time and make sure you have all the right tools.

If the rod knock isnt bad you can get away with just polishing the crank and getting the right size bearings.

How bad is the rod knock?

Pretty bad. I'm trying to convert the video right now so you guys can see. Maybe I should buy one of Mazworx's blocks?

Ryon, if you'd be willing to rebuild I'd be more then willing to come into town and help you with the process.

However, if you decide to part it out please contact me first before you take any offers. I would greatly appreciate it!

Definitely. Whether I part out or rebuild will depend on what is the fastest way to get back up and running for the cheapest price. But I guess a new engine will be fastest but most expensive, with a rebuild being slower but cheaper. I need a car ASAP though.

You don't have something else to drive while you're working on your S13?

There is always the CA18 route.....

My Dad's car I guess. But that means I have to replace his radiator.

Yeah that was a stupid joke between kckouki and I. I told him if he had a R32 GTR like he has in his profile, then I have a Supra and I'm not taking it out until he takes out the GTR.

gotcha... I personally would take the 30 minuts of your life to fix your dads car and then save up and build your block.

^lol. That's sucks Ryon. I'd do a rebuild though. You don't have to go all out either. If you can borrow your dad's car, then do a mild rebuild. If you get another used SR, it may do the same thing to you in a few months, or may not. That explains the GTR and Supra.

Yeah I was thinking a slight bore depending on what the cylinder walls look like with forged pistons and rods. And a twin scroll 3071R Anyways my original post has been updated with video. Enjoy.

Man that road knock sounds really bad. I have this weird rattling noise to. at first I thought it was road knock, but with the help of my screw driver and my stethoscope I found out that its coming from the trans. Its really loud and you can feel the rattling through the shifter when driving. Any body know what it could be ?

Does it make a noise go away when u press the clutch?

If so most likely ur input shaft bearings.

^^^ No it makes the noise all the time. clutch in, clutch out, in gear, in neutral and specially when running. It seems to becoming from the shifter area by the shifter return springs are at. But I really don't know if thats were the problem is at or if the cone effect is happening.

Good luck Ryon, if it were me, I would build for a little more power, and a lot more reliability, also, you should really install a second blow off valve, just to be safe.
