ok, i know i'm pretty new here but since i'm a honda guy switching to a nissan, my lil' bro is already and always been a nissan guy, i thought i'd help out. a h22a (prelude engine) will fit in a Si but it'll need a new motor mount kit, getting the motor, the motor mount kit, getting it all wired up, and to get it to run properly you'd have to switch out the axles b/c the stock civic ones WILL break if abused! even if he does do that, he'll have a lighter car but it's 200hp at the crank not at the wheels. i'm going to assume you have 200hp at the wheels. but if he does ever get a h22a, he is easily a 13-14sec. car. a LS/VTEC and a B20/VTEC are great swaps b/c they're bored out more and have more displacement than a regular GSR. that along w/ the lower compression makes them great for turbo's and they'll have more torque. just look at the stock LS torque against a GSR it's a few ft/lbs but it counts. anyway, he can't get that in a week unless he has maddd money. a LS motor is better for a turbo b/c of the stock compression ratio in it and you don't have to fool w/ the VTEC effect. my friend has a GSR motor in a hatchaback w/ a GREDDY turbo setup, i fool you not, he has a high 11sec to low 12 sec setup. but he has gone through great lengths to tune it correctly, he even messed up his head on his 11sec pass. but your buddy can't tune it in a week and get that done. all the guages and everything involved can be done but that means a shop would have to pay special attention to his car. running NO2, he can make a few good passes, there are cars in the 13's down here, DARING enough to run NO2. but all those cars ended up blowing their motors. if he is running NO2 let him push it and learn his lesson by blowing his motor. i say at best he could get pulleys put in, headers, ignition and a new fuel system. but that won't give him anywhere near 200whp. only w/ NOS can he beat you or a DRAG or Greddy turbo kit. just a motor swap, even a Type R motor, he can't beat you. the Type R has 197 ponies but that's also at the crank running premium fuel. that's rare and i doubt anyone in his area has that instock and can send it to him in a week. that's a 5g motor. by the way, people like the B16 head b/c it flows better. it has to do w/ the lenght of the valves. the B16A puts out 160 out of a 1.6, GSR 175 out of a 1.8. Type R 197 out of a 1.8. hp per liter, of course the Type R wins but it's the cost. it's a lot cheaper to get a B16 head, it gets 100hp per liter for a reason. that's all my honda knowledge, i'm gaing a lot more Nissan knowledge b/c i'm preparing to get either a SR or a RB powered 240sx. i know you guys have AT LEAST 200hp at the wheels and NO civic or accord can hang w/ that w/o a turbo or NOS. i don't care what bolt ons he has. unless he has a prelude w/ all the bolt ons. so you're set. just concentrate on your driving and shifting and you'll smoke that fool!

well i read through the whole post and people were talking about hondas, so i decided to put in my own fair bit of knowledge. i've been a honda guy for 7yrs now. most of my friends drive hondas. but now we're all differentiating. people are getting WRX's, Golf Gti's, Nissan 240sx's, 350z's. i've decided to try and join the Nissan group after i figured no matter how much work i can do to my car, i can't beat a Nissan that has the same amount of work. you guys have something honda's don't, TORQUE. not only that but a Nissan motor swap has a turbo where as a honda has to add a turbo kit, screw that, i'm goin' Nissan!

thanx for sharing ur info, im not the smartest guy by any means on hondas, but i know a fair bit i guess, never really loved any hondas, other than the NSX!!< i saw one this weekend!!< just not worth 100k to me considering if i lived in japan and didnt have to import, i could get skyline that could perform just as well for 60k, still, ive been a nissan fan since as far back as i could remeber, and yea, hondas dont have torque in ANY of their CARS, unless u go NSX, even the s2ooo has a crazy 246hp 2.o 4banger, with only 142ft lbs of torque, what is that crap!!??

well said, definetly use spotters, not only for cops, but for ANYTHING in the road, clean off the section you're gonna race on, cuz even something as small as a good size rock, or something in the road can have disasterous effects, personally i think u should just go to a strip, because not only is it safer, but then u have time slips to prove it!!< and he wont be able to lie to his friends and crap that werent there, and its also not illegal, so theres no chance of 'getting busted' and losing ur car, al ur money, license, or life, please take my advice, good luck man, i learned from my mistakes so u dont have to, just food for thought

even if he did have an sr powered civic, its sr FWD vs SR rwd. RWD wins! ya go to a strip and video tape it man. loser pays for entry fees and the tape goes around school and kazaa

damn! has it been a week yet...:rolleyesanyway your SR will beat him. If it's really a big deal, you should do like under said and go to the track. you win, he pays, tape goes around school (i hope you have a tv in your class rooms. then you can show it in homeroom to everyone in the school! IF your in HS) and kazaa, and get the time sloips copied so that you can pass them around school!!

Your idea about running at a tack and having loser pay expenses really made me think twice about the race, But unfortunately since the nearest track to my town is about 2 hrs away Im gonna have to stick with running him in a Cear, wide road free of any foreing objects. With spotters.

Yes we run on Wednesday. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Good luck...If he is planning on running Nitros he has to have a sticker on the window to show, that is a rule I learned off of old hot-rod street racers. I wish I would have known that before some of my races. If he does just pump the boost up...Plus even with all this he still doesn't have any torque. If he is into losing money send him my way when you are done.

this goes back a little in the thread, but that screen could be controls to a CD changer:)as far as what he can do in a week... many things can happen, but if the guy is anything like you are making him out to be, I wouldnt worry too much. Like was said, just work on your reaction time and launches... boost up a little and dont let off at the end; it should be fun. Hope it stays friendly.

this thread is getting worse than a soap opera so dont leave us hanging.

I bet you he's gonna put nitrous in. All you do is feel his intake. Nothing shout stick out of the intake except for the Intake sensor and wasted air from the head, which is connected by a hose to the intake. Apparently, I had Zex installed in my car...whenever I poped the hood, NO ONE could tell that I had zex, even though, my MSD showed something.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to open his trunk or look inside the car for the bottle. I doubt it that he would buy 4 12oz bottles and fit them under the pass. seat like Dom in F&F, haha.

Since he's a typical Honda guy that is new to his Si, I doubt he would get something big...even if he has turbo, there is no way he can boost up pass 7 PSI, and even if he does, he would run low 15 or high 14 and you can turn on the boost.

we can have a turbo installed in a civic si less than 12 hours. It wouldn't be my first time. The only reason it took us so long to do because we had to modify the oilpan because we have a honda and they gave us an eclipse oil pan...great huh?

Anyways, i'm waiting for the result. Good luck.
