Honestly, I find that comical. I don't think the fact that people are getting shot, but the lack of communication is funny is an absolutely ridiculous way.

You broke the quotes. :eek

Anyway, lack of communication or no, cop bashing gets old fast. All I know is it's not funny when you're the one making life-or-death calls on-the-spot. And laughing about that is definitely not going to fly on this forum. Most everyone in this thread seems to be keeping things civil, but calling cops ***holes and then laughing about that shooting is definitely not civil.

Stupid multi quote ish. I am not bashing anyone. I will chuckle at anyone with that great of a lack of communication. But I will leave it alone.

I think what he was laughing at was tied in to the previous comment of a cop getting shot through the door that was in plain clothes.

If another police officer can't tell a plain clothes officer how can you expect a civilian in a house that appears to be getting broken in to to do so?

If someone shot my dog, I would make it my life's mission to end their life in the most physically painful way possible. I honestly would suffer prison for the rest of my life to get vindication. Then again, I would never put myself in a situation where police would rightfully be kicking in my door. The list of things I would be tempted to do would most certainly get me banned from this forum and probably put on a watchlist or two. As far as I'm concerned she's more a part of my family than some of the actual human beings in it.

I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officers as a whole, but as with any job that holds any power, you get overinflated egos that think it's a power trip, or paranoid people that just aren't qualified for it.

As for plainclothes cops on raids.. well, that's just stupid. If someone who wasn't identifiable as a police officer was in my home, or attempting to gain unauthorized entry into my home, I would use my legally entitled right to defend with deadly force. I can understand the temptation to go in incognito and not announce yourself in order to get the jump on someone, but it's stupid to do so unless you're 100% sure they'd be firing on you just as easily if you were in uniform.

Couldn't keep my fists from clenching while watching the vid. The guy was being super cooperative and they shot his dog. He asked for an attorney and they said they had the right to know his name...Umm no you f*cking don't have the right to hear me say sh*t until i see my attorney you powertripping guy-behind-a-gun.
"Lets get him under control"
Ughh lets see hes laying down on the f*cking floor in cuffs and has been nothing but cooperative.
"someone get me a card, i can't memorize the miranda rights"
Surprised the children made it out alive

Edit: I like this comment from lower down on the page, made by Sisyphus:
"So I've got a neighbor with a yelpy little poodle that annoys the heck out of me. Can I give the coppers a bonafide anonymous tip that they are serious drug dealers so they will go in guns blazin and shoot the bastard?"

TBH, you guys know there probably was a large amount of weed ion that guys house at one time and he was just really successful at getting it out of there faster than they could get to it...

But really how would we know for sure? I am severely interested in what shows up during the inquiry because you don't call in SWAT just on some random tip given to you. There had to be real "intelligence" leading to this guys home somehow.

Who cares if there was? They also failed to find any semblance of the plant, any production equipment, or even a small scale. Columbia MO has a history of incompetence. It is entirely likely, based on history, that they swarmed in without fully investigating. The presence or absence of marijuana does NOT make a corgi more or less of a threat.
"Every indicator to me shows that this was a justifiable shooting. The dog was aggressive and the dog got shot," Chief Ken Burton said.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that SWAT officers found a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana in the home.

Columbia's mayor said changes will be made to the policy police officers follow when executing a search warrant.
So, despite the police chief insisting that nothing wrong took place, the mayor is at least admitting that there needs to be a change in policy.

Yeah, but admitting and actually changing the policy are two different things, the latter of which probably won't happen. It's all just talk as usual.

SEATTLE -- City leaders expressed shock and disappointment Friday at video that first aired on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News showing two Seattle police officers kicking a man as he lay on the ground. The man was detained during a robbery investigation last month.
The man was released when the officers realized he was not involved in the reported crime.
OOPSIE. Can you blame him? That dreary city is full of emo people ready to either cry and jump off a bridge or kill everyone in sight. :tisk:

This is also why judges and juries exist. Its not the cop's job to punish detainees as they haven't gone through a formal system to determine if their accusations are correct.

I wonder how the police negotiator on the scene felt about the decision to assist him with suicide. [I think he survived.]

I didn't watch the video, and before anyone decides to say that I'm defending their actions or flame me for what I'm about to say, do you cop hating selves a favor and actually read AND understand what I am about to say here.

Police Officers are human's, and because they are human you do get a small percentage of a$$ that make everyone else look bad, just like a small percentage of minorities give a bad reputation to the rest of the minorities. Cops have to deal with the absolute worst in people and society every single day, it's an accepted part of the job, but some people just don't get it, or slip through the cracks, or plain out have someone on the inside who gets them into the force. If you want to hate on cops it's either because you are doing something to get their attention for them to "harass" you, or you live in an area where people fitting your description are a major source of problems. With the exception of some smaller departments there are just as many minority as there are white cops (Philly PD is 60% black for example), so while racial profiling does happen it's not as regular an occurrence as it once was.

As far as shooting the dogs is concerned, they were simply following protocol, albeit they were a little extreme, most cops would have just pepper sprayed the dogs but in a raid when you have to have full situational awareness but are hampered by kids screaming, adults, screaming, and dogs barking, you need to take something out of that equation, people are easy to contain, kids can be taken outside and adults can be cuffed and sat down, animals you can't contain without animal control being present and if they had in fact raided this guys house before then animal control should have been on scene to take the dogs out after the house was breached and cleared, plain and simple.

If you want to hate cops try putting yourself in their shoes, contact your local Police Dept. Civil Affairs unit and ask if you can go for a ride along. If you can than do it, and make sure to tell the cop you're assigned to ride with how you feel about the police, He/She will make sure to show you the worse parts of the job and then show you all the good things they do to help the community.
