Always in on.

After intensive digging around the lower engine harness, relay/ fuse box, etc., the problem seems to be stemming from the fuse/ relay box. All the fuseable links go to ground on the line side.

If I take the alternator fuse out, the "IGN SW" and "ENG CONT" do not ground on the line side.

Sounds like you got an alternator gone bad. Disconnect the wires to the alternator, and tape up the red one. Check the resistance again.

That's the thing, the battery is completely disconnected. All battery cables going to the fuse box are disconnected. The alternator is already disconnected...had that feeling earlier. This blows, I really hate this car right now.

That's what makes me think it's your alternator. You said that when you removed the alt. fuse that the other things didn't go to ground. Do you have access to a spare alternator, or maybe a friend's you can try first. I know most stores won't let you return electrical items once installed.

If the alt. is disconnected completely, how would it be messing with me?

I don't know anyone I could get an SR alt off of.

The EGI relay buzzes until the ignition switch fuse blows, unless I jump it with a wire...it goes until I unplug it (probably start a fire if I didn't).

When the alt. fuse is in, the line side of the ignition switch fuse is grounded. When the alt. fuse is out the the line side is open.

When I turn the ignition to on, the load side of the ignition switch fuse is grounded (thus blowing fuses, melting wires, starting small fires, making me really angry).

Ive heard of people have issues with the EGI relay buzzing before. Im no genius when it comes to S13s, so Im not sure how the EGI is wired on those, but Im guessing that the buzzing EGI is the little tattletale that should lead you to a solution.

Yeah I've done lots of research on it and it's all low voltage or bad ground...neither of which *appear* to be my problem.

Unplugged the ignition switch and test the car side of the plug. 3/5 of the wires go to ground:

We cut the wire that goes to the ignition coil (which I no longer have since my SR swap) and things are better now, but now my fuel pump isn't turning on...

The black and yellow wire that goes to the starter, I follow it back to the fuse box, it comes out on the other side paired with a big white wire, goes into a plug, and on the other side the two wires are wrapped together and taped off. Where are they SUPPOSED to go? I'm assuming a clutch interlock relay or something? Anyone know?

WOW I am having the exact same problem with my car right now!! Everything you have described has happend. Any more update to what has went wrong? Im fixing to pull my dash out this weekend (Which Im not looking forward too)

My fuel pump will not come on anymore either!! I have a Walbro pump. My car started doing this after I put my front fenders back on!! The ignition switch was left on the On position for 30-45 mins and it popped my fuse. I have never had this happen b/f.

i've had the exact same thing happen to me. does you're clock disappear when you open the door (like the #'s but not the backlight)?

I know it may be a long shot but have you checked the harness that runs through your fenders an wheel well? they sometimes get worn down and short if you're cars lowered.

Ya my Clock does disappear. Not sure if it only when I open my door. But I have also Briefly checked my harness coming through the fenders.

I ran tests on the wires and they seem fine. What was your fix/Problem?

The power wire (White) is also turned a color on the end from being hot at some point.

Well I have a highly modded rb25 so the spark plug wire couldn't be the problem. I have individual coil packs.

Anyone else have an Idea?

ill tell you right now, if you see wires melting, you will have more, and they may be melted together right now, and shorting across eachother, pull your dash and look over that ENTIRE harness, ill put money its caused by your alarm.

I dont' have an alarm nor a turbo timer. And All of my accessories I have added are on a Solenoid run from the battery wire. I have a remote switch wire hooked from the fuse panel to my solenoid to trigger it on. So In No way Have I overloaded the fuse panel on my application.

I don't know if you read that other thread I posted in here but I solved it by basically redoing my harness. Either that or it was magic.

I haven't read any other post. I was just searching and found this one which is exactly what my car is doing and thought I would see what the solution is.

If it comes down to me re-doing the harness, Then I have only a Few things that I need actually working. I have gotten rid of most of the factory accessories anyways.

Im tearing the car down friday so I should find something this weekend I hope. Race season has started without me again
