venomizzy, I'm experiencing the same thing as you are with the automatic transmission. Do you know the procedure to put the transmission computer into diagnostic mode? If not, Download the factory service manual , it's in the AT section. I've read posts from nissan master tech's saying that the revolution sensor is what causes the transmission to go into limp mode, which is exactly what your experience (as am i). Pin 25 on the Transmission controller is the output from the revolution sensor, if you hook a dvm up to that pin and ground, at around 19 mph it should read 1 volt or more (AC voltage). The next thing to check would be the seed sensor. I'd have to look at the schematics again, but i can tell you it's supposed to go from 5v dc to 0 vdc alternating. The diagnostic mode on the transmission controller is rather difficult IMHO to judge correctly. But if you can get it into Diagnostic mode, put it in N or P , fire it up, and take off down the road (do NOT cut the key off before you start it), and see if it shifts fine. If the revolution sensor, and speed sensor are both OK, see if you can find someone with a good AT controller, hook it up and test it out. (which is what I'm in the process of doing myself). A few other things that come to mind off hand is there is about 4 lines that run directly from the ECU to the TCU, if their not communicating for some reason it could possibly put the TCU in limp mode. Another thing to check is the temp sending units, there's one for the gauge, and one for the ECU. They both are right on front of the engine on the upper coolant pipe.
Could someone link him to the FSM? I downloaded it from Nicoclub, but alas I have forgotten the URL.
Also from reading your posts. Your OD switch on the side if your shifter is broken. Mine was as well, it's about 18 bucks @ a nissan dealership. And fairly easy to replace. It uses snap pins on 2 solid wires... just make sure you seat the wires back into the snap pins good when you replace it. Jewelers screwdrivers , or o-ring removal tools work wonders for this. (it helps do do this with the shifter in 1 ).
Good luck with it, and please post back what you find out, for the both of us.
