I have an ECU from a 92Q. I believe it's a TCS unit but I'm not fully sure. Since my Q is not a TCS model, I'd be willing to trade 90-93 ECUs with someone who may have a need for a TCS model.... disabling seems a waste if there is a need.RobertsnewQ wrote:If you use a TCS ECU in a non-TCS car, it will work just fine. TCS will do its thing, and the ECU will do its thing. The problem is, the ECU won't know to retard the timing and lean out the mixture when the TCS throttle is closed.
according to jwt catalog, that is a federal, no option (non TCS, non active).DrewQ45 wrote:
Just to be sure... my part number is A18-A21 P66 2206 ...maybe Wes or Robert can confirm what type it is.
..Drew...
Appreciate the info GQ.GQ Jay wrote:

i put a link to that site on page 2 of this thread.
I have attached a pic of my 1990 JWT ECU. How upgradable are these to the new program? Is there a chip that can be unsoldered and sent in for the upgrade or is it the same process and price to upgrade as the standard ECU? The main reason for wanting the upgrade would be to get the safety factors (knock sensor map and 7200 rpm cutout) that your program has. Does your program also remove the top speed limiter like JWT?elwesso wrote:I suppose its possible.. also the earlier JWT programs were not nearly as agressive..... Robert said that the one I gave him, a JWT in a 91 ECU or something, was just a little bit above stock, but the one in my 94 was really advanced compared to it.
Id say thats very plausible.
Attached is a picture o fhte chip we redo... you should be able to simply pull that chip out (the circled one) with a chip puller and replace it with ours!!Q45denver wrote:I have attached a pic of my 1990 JWT ECU. Also, please let me know as to the shipping on the "Better than JWT ECU" for my 1995. If you can't ship by Monday you might wait till after the Holidays as I will be out of town.
Hmmm.... wonder what the top speed would be with limit gone would be on an early G50 and assuming vehicle is in good shape. I've hit 155 before and the Q felt like it had more to go... my courage was the limiter there.RobertsnewQ wrote:^^^ What Wes said. And yes, we remove speed limiter.
Not sure if they're true, but I've heard stories of a guy who got caught in florida doing 178 MPH with a JWT ECU. I suppose at that speed you get billy-clubbed in addition to the jail key being thrown away.elwesso wrote:i can find out!!!!!
So what parts (chips) does JWT replace when they do the upgrade? I just compared the JWT ECU with the one modified by aaacomp and OEM ECU that came with my 1990 and all three appear identical internally. I tried the OEM one in my 1995 and it turns out it's a TCS version (apparently it was replaced by a reman under warranty). The 1990 OEM one does not have nearly the performance of the JWT ECU and the TCS does not appear to kick in as aggressively as it does with my 1995 ECU.elwesso wrote:

$15
What are CELs? So on the Aaacomp version I could just replace the chip as well?elwesso wrote:and his also had CELs for whatever reason?
