Yeah, I was referring to the c pillar bar. There are some c pillar bars out there that will fit an 89-94 but they attach in a different spot which is more forward in the car than this one (looks like it is almost above the strut towers from pics I've seen). It seems to me from your pictures that this bar is mounted more towards the rear of the car which is where things get really flimsy on a hatch. I'm going to try to find out about where i can get this bracket to mount it on an 89 hatch.

GT Spec has been a sponsor here for almost 2 years, and they are kickass.

Met the owner and a couple of his crew at VIR last year.

I have the full compliment of GT Spec goodies on my G35, and since she sees track whore duty, I can tell you they make some killer goodies.

DAMN.

I opened the box and this badass thing was inside.

the bar is just plain HUGE.

The difference between the cheap ebay stuff and the GT Spec bars is just night and day. They couldn't be more different.

Can't wait to drift the car again.

Wow! Their products do look great! However, I would like to see some sort of performance analysis (butt tested) comparing the ebay edition to the GT Spec. I am still sold on their products either way though cause they just look so B.A.!

EDIT: Just realized, is your hood raised along with having vents in it?

That would be a cool test. Not exactly sure how it could be done though.

Just butt test it! Do you have an old ebay p.o.s. lying around you can swap on for a few laps?

I don't.....

I want to do something like that though.

I want to add / subtract all the different bars to see what I can feel.

The problem is, I have so much now. haha.

The cage is the worst. I do NOT want to take that thing out and put it in again.

BH -

Have you seen the bar designed by rotorimp? I'm running one on my 'vert. Triangulated design, ties into the firewall. Very sweet.

Do you remember a guy awhile ago selling these REALLY beefy rear strut bars for an S13 (might have been an S14). They were like rediculously beefy, and he fabricated them himself (I forgot the company name of the that he used). I've searched everywhere and I can't find them, or anything about the fabricatore/vendor.

Explain. Seems like that would really help improve rigidity having some extra points where it is braced. Are you just apposed to its appearance?

A coupe companies tried that design YEARS and YEARS ago.... they seemed to ditch the idea.

I'll stick with what I got.

Appearance is a big part of it too.

Hey BH, do you have any idea what that bracket is called that the c pillar bar mounts onto? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

So, turns out those brackets are the rear seat belt mounts (seems obvious now but I haven't had rear seat belts in my car for like 2 years so I didn't recognize them). I spoke to a sales rep at GT spec and sent him some pics and measurements. He said:

"The center of the 2 mounting points on the brace is 44 and ½ inches. Our measurement is not off by much [mine was 44 and 3/8] and the mounting holes on the brace is oval shaped so I think it will mount fine. The problem is that bracket, the 91-94 has it welded to the C pillar where as yours is bolted. The brace will lose some of its benefit as we might see some play on the brackets. If you can weld in the bracket than this brace will make a huge difference."

So, looks like I'm going to get one and test fit it at some point (when i get my tax return). I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Man I was just googling this stuff. I need to strengthen my s13 marshmellow hatch... considering I'm running gigantic spring rates for track.

Best place/best price? I need them shipped to Canada too... I want all three rear ones. I already got a strut tower bar from dc sports.

cant wait to get mine...

I wish i could find an ultra racing fender brace for my s13... those were discontinued for some time... and were the best fender braces... they also had a four point brace for the front of the car and the rear (combination of strut tower brace and trunk brace)
