TCS = Traction Control System. I hope I read that correctly and that is the answer to what you were wondering, otherwise, I'm gonna feel a lil' sheepish.

I have two Q's right now- a 94QBase model and a 94Q45t (traction control/TCS). The blazt cable reads the base model ECU just fine but won't connect to the ECU with TCS.

I just got my cable to work. Not sure what I did different from last few times I tried. I deleted the software then reinstalled, and it worked. (com4) I have a 94 with TCS. This is awesome! The only thing is my timing stays at 50? Is that normal?

how'd you do it? can you give a little bit details or you just did the 'uninstall-install' without doing the regedit thing, right?

The only thing I have been able to think of is that I did a full update. I deleted all my OBD software, then I installed all the latest updates for everything. I defragmented my disks and used disk cleanup in Accessories > System Tools. After that I downloaded the latest version of ECUtalk and installed it. (I have not tried any other software yet, I have been having too much fun) After that I connected the cable to the car and then to the computer. The "Windows' New Hardware Driver Wizard" popped up. I followed the directions on the wizard for the drivers. (Ran through two times: Once for cable drivers, and once for the board drivers) After that I chose Com4 and IT WORKED! I'm not sure if this will help at all, but it can't hurt. Any other information just ask, I was pissed when mine wasn't working so I'll do whatever I can to help you guys with yours. These things are so worth the money. GOOD LUCK!

just posting to say that ecutalk v1.3.3 beta3 (and any future betas/final release) have an option for US timing adjustment, ie -35 so the incorrect "50" would read as the correct 15 for US cars.

ECUTalk v1.3.3 Beta 4 (2007-08-21 23:10:34)

I've uploaded the 4th and most likely final beta build of ECUTalk v1.3.3, beta4. I'm fairly sure all the functionality introduced in these betas now works as intended, though I haven't had much if any feedback from Imperial sensor (Mi/Gal/MPG etc) users. If there are no problems with this build, it will become final v1.3.3.

Things added in beta1/beta2/beta3:#1 Automatically attempt reconnection to ECU after connection lost#5 Other Trip Meter Sensors (Fuel Used, Trip Fuel Economy, Trip Distance)#14 Add offset option timing so US users can get correct timing readings#22 imperial (etc) option in the options is cutoff with japanese font#24 Derived sensors should select dependent sensors automatically#25 Options might not be saved if you dont select another tab before closing#26 Priority option for ECUTalk (eg so mp3 etc play fine)

New features/fixed bugs in beta4 below:#10 Put font size/scaling for gauges in options#31 When value exceeds gauge maximum, the actual value should be on digital readout#32 When you read fault codes without having connected to ecu, ecutalk exits#33 Gauge colour preview doesnt update till you restart ECUTalk#35 Save long term trip sensor statistics#36 Clear trip statistics from sensors#37 Option dropdown lists are editable on laptop/PC (shouldn't be)#38 check for port open when reconnecting when gauges showing#39 Put option in for data flush wait time#41 If using L|T|R|B settings in the ini file, the gauges arent displayed properly if L is far from 0.

Additional notes:1) For Flush Wait option, 100ms is default, lower values will give quicker startup times, but higher values might help with some connection problems, eg sensors not showing up, ECU part number not being read, gauges not moving when showing gauges, etc. Eg I can use 20ms on my desktop and 50ms on my 568 Jornada.2) For Font Base Size and Increment, this allows you to specify a font size, and then the amount of pixels which the font size will be incremeneted depending on gauge size. Eg 6pt + 50px increment on a 200px wide gauge = 10pt font.3) Also a minor fix to heading names in logs so distance/fuel used have units (KM/Mi,L/Gal)

Spent a lot of work on this one, got a lot of the niggling issues out of the way, the new trip meter sensors along with saving/reset ability should prove quite useful for those with pocket pc/car pc setup Any issues with it let me know.

Sorry to bring this old thread back to life, but I thought it was better than building a new one. Are these still usb consult cables still available from Jamie? I read alot of this and get the impression it could be used with a Macintosh. Is anyone else doing that? What all does having this software and cable allow you do monitor/tune?

I'm interested in getting one.

If they aren't available, I know of an alternative.

I know it's a long thread but if flip through it you should find some good links. Some of the programs are free some are available for purchase. ECUTalk is the one I use the most and it's free (donations welcome). I also use Nissan Data Scan which I paid for. It has a few features that are not available in ECU talk so it's very nice as well. Calumsult is another that's pretty nice and free. There are a few others as well but these are the ones I've got the most experience with.

FYI you can still get cables from Jaime. I just bought one off eBay and didn't realize he was selling them on here until after I got it. I believe it was $80.

Yes sir! I had trouble finding any info before I tried it.

I'm running it on a Macbook Pro with Leopard. I've got Windows XP installed with Boot Camp and running Datascan within Windows. I just got a USB cable from Jamie instead of dealing with a serial to USB converter. It works pretty much flawless, however I've gotten a blue Windows error screen a few times but just restart and it works.

Ah! So you're running the windows environment on your Mac. Hadn't thought about that.

If you do install Windows, just make sure to partition more than 5GB since I've got about 200MB free and can't do much of anything. No way to change it without reinstalling.

There's also a consult type program called Consultan that is for Macs, but I couldn't ever get it to connect. It tells me it can't find a serial connection, but Macs don't have serial parts. Seems like the software should be smarter? Who knows.

Yea, this is a long string of posts, but I did not see (or just plain missed) if any more of the USB cable sets were available, from Jamie maybe?

Justifies the notebook!

Thanx!

Yes the cables are available. I bought one from Jaime through eBay before I realized he was on this forum. Here's a link to his username, but it doesn't look like he has any listed right now. Might try sending him a message through email or eBay.

Works on my '94 turbo with both my '94 ECU as well as my '93 ECU. I've also used it on a '94 Sentra to do some troubleshooting.

It did not work on my '94 Q45a but didn't try very hard could have been a consult plug issue because I also tried to plug in one of my other know to work ECU's into that car and it didn't work either. That's why I think it could have been the plug.

Cool just to give everyone closure, I'm buying Meaux's cable. But, I think that Jamie guy is still making them and selling them on Ebay for about the same price.
