So I arrived from vacation (will have pics of that later tonight) and found this in my driveway:

Mmm.... MORE PIXORZ!

back section

front section

resonator interior

muffler interior

muffler and tip closeup

More pics from the install and some vids (ahem... probably one big one edited by yours truly) to come tomorrow...

The tip is a bit larger (4in) than I anticipated... my brother (Audi A4 1.8T, APR stage 1/2 hybrid) cracks me hard with the rice stuff... since the tip is huge... and he assumes it will be a bumble bee... I don't think so, I trust Greg! Anyways, the tip really got him going, so I may end up seeing if I can find a 3 or 3.5 and get it replaced, but we'll see, once it's on the car it may look smaller.

Mmm... I can't wait til tomorrow. 6 guys to install an exhaust... excessive? Yes. Fun? Definitely.

I need to get a car that works before I can worry about upgrading an exhaust.

No idea. 4in... HUGE... oh well... I thought it was 3.5, but whatever, it's about flow, an extra half inch isn't going to matter cause the piping is still way smaller (2.5). I think it'll look smaller once it's on the car, at least, that's the hope.

No matter, good quality from what I looked over, the welds look really solid and everything is nice and shiny and clean!

i was just in florida, the jellyfish are bad there too, xept the waves smash them up so little pieces of tentacles are in the water, and sometimes you would hit a concentration of them,, it would suck, it also sucks getting smashed by waves into the sand and shells, lol

My brother is a cruel, cruel man... then again, every time he started to go snorkeling, he'd get in the water and see at least 3 right next to him, so... he was a little angry with jellies.

He killed two, I believe. Trust me, those two won't be missed, they were everywhere... near one beach I saw two right next to each other at least twice that size (different species, but I saw more of the one pictured than of these large ones).

Also, they were going to die anyway, as they were being washed up on the beach... so think of it as a merciful death? I dunno...

edit: About 35 minutes until install begins... now if only I could get in touch with Zach to tell him it's an hour earlier than I originally said... especially since he lives 30 minutes away...

It was actually pretty easy, once we got some PB Blaster and Mike (240kid) to help out. Those bolts were a *****. Had it fit, it'd have been a 2hr-ish job including jacking up the car and **** (we were very careful about that, I've heard too many stories about cars falling and stuff).

Anyways, Greg asked me to take pics of what didn't fit and email them, but seeing as my email is retarded and stuff, I hope it's cool if I just post em here? They'll be in member's rides if you need larger sizes Greg! 1600X1200, so you can see a lot, I hope... It was kinda hard to get under and get a good angle, but I'm hoping these will suffice. I'll explain the problem under each pic.

Pics in a minute... lots to upload...

Alright... so, step by step:

Lift the car... you don't have to, if you're small, but I'm 6'3... and I like space... anyways, after that, get under and start looking around. Near the cat, there was this brace to make sure the exhaust doesn't bounce around too bad.brace

axle flange

old exhaust muffler... see the mouting points? Check the one furthest from the tip, note that it curves, then compare to the one later on the new muffler...

Here is the cat flange, bolts up great, but check out that hanger... I don't have a hanger there... nothing to hang it on... oh well, I could impail squirrels (cept we put the stock exhaust back on)...

Brian ALWAYS puts something in backwards...

This is the rear most hanger on the driver's side... as you can see, it doesn't reach...

Here's a really awful shot of the hanger that did work, it was on the other (passenger) side of the muffler at the rear most mounting point... it did not fit well (did not stick all the way through the hole in the rubber), however, we barely got it on... it could easily have slipped had we driven the car...

This hanger... well... it's pointed the wrong way (note it's not bent toward the front like the stock exhaust hanger was) AND it's WAY too short... the exhaust did get over the axle just fine... not as high over as stock, but it did make it over and had all the hangers fit, I think it would have been fine (it's sitting real low cause the hangers weren't fitting)...

So... it doesn't fit. We started the car to see what it sounded like. It sounded pretty nice, very mellow, no fart at all, though we only revved to the low 2000s. The tip is larger than I expected too, as noted... it is the size of the Spec V exhaust tip... then, Mike found this picture of a Spec V hanger...

Yep, that's just where the resonator would be on a Spec V... in other words, the fabricator (which is not Greg himself, for everyone's reference) somehow got the impression that:

A. I have an SE-R Spec VorB. The SE has the same mounting points as a SE-R

Wrong. The mounting points are quite different. Greg, if you need more pics I'll crawl under and get the stock one pictured as fully as possible to show you how it fits, but since the muffler is MUCH wider than the Magnaflow unit, it will be different.

All in all, I'm kinda pissed cause I wanted my exhaust today.. and I wanted to scare the piss out of some ricers at school (eek, first day) on Monday... oh well. I know these things happen. Much thanks to Greg for calling me back so quickly to talk about it! We'll see if we can get a correct one fired up soon, then vids galore ;)!
