I just drove the new Ralliart and it was pretty depressing. For a car that was all wheel drive, turbo charged and has the fancy TTS transmissions from an Evo, it left me expecting more out of it.

I had a 2004 Holden (Pontiac GTO) for 3 years and the build quality was better then the Altima by far! That said it's not built in the US. The only American cars I would buy currently would be the Pontiac G8 GXP (also holden), Trailblazer SS, Corvette, Caddy CTS-V period! But I will say the pontiac G6 GT was an improvement to there Grand Ams lol and alot closer to nissan level of quality (but not there yet)

As you pointed out, the GTO and GXP are Australian made, not US made... and the argument i made earlier is that when it comes to US cars, it seems as though their quality is in their higher line of cars, but the lower line cars(chevy cobalt aka chevy cavalier) don't get that kind of attention, and that's why they suck a$$!

honestly, looks at the honda civic, nissan sentra, toyota corolla... these are the long lasting lower line vehicles of the Big 3 Japanese companies, and I know folks with 15 year old versions that haven't had to replace their transmissions! heck my 13 year old nissan 200sx was still going strong when I sold it to get my Alti coupe.

So, I agree, not all American cars are crap, but comparatively speaking, their lower line/entry level vehicles are crap when put up against the japanese entry level vehicles.

i give the colbolt props on being fast, but i also agree that its ugly and american, in addition arent the american companies in over their head in debt? so if you did buy a gm...say 5 years from now if they go bankrupt will you still have warranties and stuff?if the company is going down what stability will you have as a customer?

but then a plus for gm

but congrats on the new ride and have fun spanking alot of cars

This isn't a serious thread, right? I just dumped an expired 03 Eco-tech Sunfire (with an 05 engine!) for my 09 Altima 3.5 Coupe... AND I looked at everything out there before deciding. GM had nothing, Cobalt (all levels) included, that came close to the A/C for performance AND creature comforts - NO ONE did. I've had enough with disposable cars in recent years, and, I'm sorry, but the Cobalt (like the Sunfire) fits that billing, the A/C does not. I have friends with Altimas that have over 300,000 km on them and they still run perfectly... I'll eat my words when a Cobalt reaches that mark without major surgery.

This is definitly somethin I wasnt especting to read. I'm owning a cobalt and looking forward to switch for A/C in the next 2months(hopefully) as, my point of view, that would be a nice step forward talking about product quality. If ur experiencing problems just try to trade to another one this must be kindof unsual couldnt it? According to what I've read so far most of people experiencing problems with AC seems to be just unlucky exceptions and in most cases they seem to be good cars. but I must say cobalt has been a really good car and I anjoyed it for 2years but now it's just a problem after another one. You just might wanna think more about it first.

2 years huh? So you're stepping UP to the A/C right? I highly sugest you get the 6 cylinder

Actually I bought it 1yr used so could say it survived trought 3years til now Id keep it but fallen in love with the A/C and the cobalt is just giving me more and more excuses to switch.(and losing on it's value so quickly)I considered it also since the choice of options are pretty limited on the 2.5 and that manual tr. is a must for me but considering the price diff and gaz price I'm going for 2.5 wich would already be drinkin a bit more than my cobalt and would still be ok for me since(to be honnest)my cobalt is LS n not a supercharged so Id still see it as a big improvement
