I'm looking for a set of wheels for my '91, and I've decided to go with an OEM Nissan or Infiniti wheel. I've seen pics of cars that have G35 wheels, and various Q wheels, but there are a couple wheels I've found that I haven't seen used. The first is the 5 spoke 18" Murano wheel. They're pretty cheap on eBay. I guess all the Murano folk want dubs. I also found someone semi-local selling the 18" wheels off his (her?) '02 Q45 Sport. Is there any particular reason I haven't seen these wheels on an older Q? Like maybe they don't fit? Bolt pattern is the same, and I'm pretty sure the center bore is too. Anyway, you know how it is with wheels. They may look good in the book, or on the other car, but you put them on your car and suddenly they ain't so hot. Anybody got pics of their 90-93 with different OEM Nissan/Infiniti wheels? It would be a big help in my decision making process if you could post them for me.Thanks

Funny you should ask. I was just replying to a thread about some G35 wheels for a guy on his S14 and a quick search showed plenty of 17" & 18" sets with tires for reasonable rates. Some great deals if you're willing to search and snipe. Watch the offsets and load ratings if they already have tires.

Here's the best option, IMHO

Click image for a larger version.

That's Wes' Q, with the 350Z 18" track wheels. They're forged Rays wheels, nice strong and light.

He had them first, then I copied him. But I got a better deal .

Just keep in mind, you won't be able to use the rubber that comes on the Murano wheels.

Here's a pic (bad angle) of the Murano wheels on a J30

Are these wheels polished, or chrome dipped?

I have seen them here on our current model Maxima....Their finish is a dull/brushed aluminium as standard.....

I was just wondering if all it took was a machine polish to get this finish....And would anyone be able to source infiniti center caps for them, instead of the nissan ones? (You can see where I am heading with this one.... )

Ozzie - Wes is right, mine are OEM off a 2004 Q with Premium Package.

Why someone would pay extra for the Premium Package, then sell the rims, is beyond me - But I like 'em.

They're a good fit with 255/40ZR18 P-Zeros.

Do you have the 255/40ZR18 all around?

Yes.

The second pic was when I had 245/40/18's.

I'm currently looking for some 265/40/18's since NICOmom drives it now - I want some more sidewall to protect the rims.

These can be had for under $700 a set shipped on ebay (non-chromed, of course)...I plan to get some for my '93. Definitely my favorite Nissan OEM wheels. The Maxima SE version is 18x7.5 all around. The Z (up to 2005) sports different widths of the same design (I believe it's 18x8 in front and 18x8.5 in back...). At least one of the members here has had these on a Q, and they look absolutely amazing. Hopefully they still have the pics and can post them...

I'm not sure what they are, but they have the exact wheels Azhitman has on his Q, just not chrome....

I will drive past the local dealership and take a couple of photos in the next few days.... Maybe of some of the other nissans we have locally too! =)

I thought that 245/40/18 was the right size to have. How do sizes like 255/40/18 and 265/40/18 compare? How wide do the rims have to be and are there any rubbing issues?

What are the size of those in your signature?

I run 245/45/18 on Lola and they are awesome! Nice smooth ride, and plenty of rim protection for soft kisses, but no hard rubs.

The 245/40/18 were rim killers.

Aren't those tires too tall?
Jeff Williams wrote:The 245/40/18 were rim killers.
Maybe it was the brand of tire you had? My friend has that exact size on his 540i that has over 130,000 miles and needs a complete suspension since most of teh parts are still original and the car is not that rough.

What he said.

With 8" wheels, the 245 MM width and a 40% sidewall does not give any rim lip protection. When I went ot 45% sidewall, it gave me some more tire sidewall in case i got a little too close to the curb.

Layla has 255/45/17's on 8" rims.
