So... after aaaaall the work i put into my versa, and $5,000 later, i decided to say goodbye to her... ima miss her... but its time for a lil change... I will be trading her in and buying myself a New 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8. idk how smart that is with the gas prices predicted to be $4.50 by the summer for regular... and the economic crisis going on... but, i guess... "Live Fast, Die Young" heheh

So for all you haters out there RED DEVIL, blow it out your tailpipe, cus ima be cruisin with a smile on.

TheRussianBullGood luck with the new car!How much, if not a secret, you got for your Versa? Did the mods that you've done counted for more residual value?Did Dodge accepted Versa or was it some other dealership?

well havnt traded it in yet, but either way im def gettin rid of it, and im stocking it back up, putting all stock performance parts back on, only thing staying is the cosmetics... which i hope isnt a problem... and aftermarket parts dont cost a thing wen u trade in or sell... unfortunatly, unless ur selling to someone that knows/wants those parts...

Yeah, I wanna sell my Versa too, now have to find out a real market price for it and where the best place to sell is.Anyone know how much you would loose in a trade in? (real market price - trade in price)

no don't get a challenger str8, handling is rubbish, get a 2009 G8 GXP with the extra 695$ manual transmission option. almost same price, 415 horsepower and 0-60 times well under 5.0 seconds.

And feel free to blow it out your *** RussianRicer. Also, feel free to NOT post pictures here when you rice the **** out of that car ok?

FYI, the Dodge Challenger is a horrid car. Can't handle, weighs about 2 tons, doesn't have enough power for it's weight and isn't much to look at. It basically rips off the old design and doesn't really update it.

Why you're selling your V for something that's more expensive AND impractical I don't know. If you were smart about it you'd go for the only other good modern pony car option, the new Camaro. Looks better, has better performance, isn't as expensive and isn't made by Chrysler. I serious wouldn't by anything from them.

If I had to buy an "American made" vehicle it'd have to be Ford, can't believe I said that. Other than the beanstang, Fords product lineup is actually very interesting. The next-gen Fusion and Taurus are actually attractive. With a possible 2010 Taurus SHO on the way I'm actually giving props to Ford. They're increasing quality and actually producing some vehicles that car buyers can get behind. They're also being smart about their engine development. Their Ecoboost technology is a great way to lesson their reliability on V-8's for power while being able to get better economy.

But that's just the informed decision I'd make.

FYI, to make this post "helpful", all those "mods" you performed will only serve to reduce the value of a trade in. That's how it usually works.

It's hard to speculate on what gas prices will be next summer. They surely didn't expect them to drop to $1.50 a gallon three months after they were $4.10 per gallon.

Anyway, This is why so many here have told guys who want to tune a Versa to just get a car with more hp out of the box. Then go from there. It makes no sense to try to turn this econobox into a something it's not.

You're going to get killed on the trade in. About $5000 worth.

That SRT8 Challenger is $40,000 MSRP plus the loss on the trade. Including tax that's going to be about $50K. So if you put down $5000 cash and finance the $45000, that'll be $891 a month for five years at 7%.

So let me get this straight.... you spent all that money just to get rid of it. Good luck. Even if you return it back to stock and sell the aftermarket parts seperate, you won't get near as much back as you spent. And you better be bankin' if you want a Challenger SRT8. Insurance will rape you, the price of the car itself will rape you, and gas will eventually go back to being $4 gallon and you'll love getting 14 MPG then.

It's all opinion. I'd put Ford before Chevy just because I had less problems with my Bronco II (which was a horrid truck anyway) than I did with my S-10. I agree with Red Devil though. I haven't really liked Fords in the recent years but that new Taurus is a sweet looking car. I even told my fiance that if I was looking for another car I might actually walk onto a Ford lot.

And I agree with Red's "American Made". Most of the time 60 to 70% of all the parts for Ford are foreign made. They just assemble it in the US...and not even always that. It's like Dell, all parts for a laptop are made overseas. They ship the almost completed laptop to the US. When it gets to the US, they slap on the DVD-ROM drive so then they legally can put the "Assembled in the US" sticker on it.

And hey, if Russian wanted to spend all that money on his V and then sell it to get a more expensive car...who cares? It may not be the most financially smart deal...but if he wants it he wants it and we don't know what his financial situation is. God knows the car companies need someone to buy a vehicle. lol

I'm wondering, he could sell the car to HIN or some car sponsorship place. It already has the cosmetic and aftermarket parts for the engine, HIN could add more stuff to it, make it look bad *** and somebody could make a lot of money in return from going to the events.

If it were for a performance vehicle I'd go GM. They've got the Vette, CTS-V, G8 GXP, Solstice/Sky Redline, e.t.c. If I wanted a car that was a decent DD then I'd go with new or next gen Ford. That's if I had to go American. I'll NEVER buy a Chrysler/Dodge though. Thoroughly uninspiring design on their cars(excluding the Viper) and shoddy craftmanship.

You will take a beating on selling an 07. Most people won't want the mods you leave on so that will hurt the price. Then you are buying something else that will have poor resale.

You may want to consider removing the cosmetic mod's as well. The will effect your trade in value.

Indeed, GM has some good products. The new Camaro will have a 300 hp V-6. About $22,000 base price. 27 mpg/highway. From the reviews I've read in Car and Driver, Motor Trend and the like, it handles very well, too. That's some good bang for the buck. I like the look as well.

I'd rather get a slightly used Corvette than the SRT8. Handles far better and the tradition, history and heritage allow it to keep its value. Insurance payments on the 'vette? Now that's another matter...

Heck, a new Corvette is $49,400 with a 426 hp engine that gets 26 mpg on the highway.

As MDRacer stated, cosmetic modifications can hurt the value. The dealer wants a car that can be turned around quickly. A car with a carbon fiber hood, big exhaust can or extreme graphic or paint will be more of a detriment.

I can't emphasize this enough to our younger Versa owners. Keep those stock parts. You will need them when you want to sell.

Well I did know someone with a Ford Ranger that had 270,000+ miles. It could have hit 300,000 easily. The only stupid reason it died is because it blew a headgasket because he wouldnt spend the money to fix his radiator hoses correctly (replace them) and dump the hose water he kept putting into it and replace it with fresh coolant. Instead, he went and bought a beat up 90s civic. What an upgrade... I don't understand why people would spend a few grand on another old car than just fix a simple problem like that that wouldn't cost anywhere near $100 to fix.

I would be wary of the new Camaro. The old ones were very warranty laden and were always in the shop. I had a 97 Camaro and although it lasted to 200,000 miles I was pouring money left and right into it just to keep it on the road.

The suspensions on those Camaro's never last. As a DD I went through 15 warranty replacements on the front suspension alone!!! Even Gm flew out a master tech form the camaro line to investigate why so many suspension failures were occurring and they came back with no response.

All I have to say is the new one was tested on the Nurburgring.....so I think they got the suspension thing down.

you get what you pay for. Incredible handling, excellent power curve, well built and no maintenance for 4 years/50,000 miles. Buy the base model 128i for 31k and you have a fine car. Much better than the ones you have mentioned IMHO plus significantly better resale.
