I am Strangelove. I will stay on topic. I am not an idiot. I am not a fanboy. I am not a dip****. Wow Gears of War is harder than I expected... But still amazing. I highly recommend this game. To Microsoft and the new GoW: Gears of War

This thread officially sucks.

For what it's worth though, from the standpoint of sheer horsepower, most developers actually consider X360 and PS3 to be about even. They each have their strengths/weaknesses, but the PS3 is by NO MEANS a quantum leap over the X360, it's pretty neck-and-neck.

I think the PS3 will show it's advantages more towards the end of it's life. Intel's processor design trend is heading in the direction of the Cell processor, but in increments. Moving towards multi-threaded multi-core and eventually SPE's to handle small processing. they are the multi-threaded multicore now, but still have yet to implement any SPE's. Jumping to new technology can present challenges from a development standpoint. I'm not programmer or engineer, but from my limited knowledge, developing a complex multi-threaded game and then trying to port games to say...a PC with a single processor might prove difficult. Going the other way would be easier, but may limit the game to a single thread in a console. If anything, it will create a steep learning curve on the PS3 development if they want to use the potential of the PS3.

The 360 is much more inline with the dual core processors out by Intel now, and as development for the dual core processor in gaming begins, I'm guessing it will be much easier to develop much of both platforms at the same time. MS's development software is also supposed to allow more development sharing between the 360 and PC as well. I'd speculate it will be much easier to step into using all of the 360's potential as well. Developers of Assassin's Creed state the 360 version has some advantages in the AI over the PS3.

I think the PS3's price is going to be the biggest deterrent. It was relatively easy to get into the Original Xbox for me even though I initially wanted it only for Halo. I eventually bought more games for it. I would have been content to wait to purchase a 360 until Halo3 is released, but between wanting something that would make use of my HDTV and wanting to play a few of the 360 games I splurged. Then bought another for the GF as well. They're really going to have to have some really good exclusive games for me to spend money on the PS3. Especially since I've never osned any of the PS consoles. Since my Xbox games can be played on the 360, It at the very least allows me to play old games without having to keep theold console around(though I have it hooked up to my spare TV.)

The cel processor has yet to prove its metal and I really think that it will have major overheating problems.

Powerful consoles are all probably going to have a high instance of heat. Trying to package such hardware into a small space can be difficult. I don't doubt the possibility that the PS3 will have issues, but I'm not going to bet on it either. Sony has had a year to learn from MS on this issue and make sure they release a product without this problem. But who knows. With Sony's financial blunders they may still opt to try and go cheap on it. They're in tough position.

They wont learn. How many glitches did the PS one have when it came out? a lot. PS2? even more. PSP? dead pixels, bricking, Blue screen of death galore. But i guess the .... err.... 4th times a charm?

Am I the only one who find it ironic that a representative of EA is commenting on originality? http://www.eurogamer.net/artic...69805

Uhh my PSone never had a problem, I still have my original ps2 from launch day, problem free, my psp had 3 dead pixels but EVERY lcd screen has them, and my xbox is dead right now.

you got lucky.

I've seen a lot of dead PS2's. more than I have Xboxs honestly.

I think both of them had an issue of just a junky disc drive.

I lied, about 2 years ago my ps2 got the disk read error problem. It was solved by opening it, and then opening the disk drive and turning alittle white plastic gear 3 teeth forward. Not sure why is fixes it, but it does.

I had one of the first Ps2's and it lasted several years, although it did have a problem reading certain DVD's and first generation games. It took about 4 years before it died, then I picked up a slim, and it's given me no problems at all. My JDM Ps2 is also going strong as is my xbox(though it's about to be retired since I picked up the 360 Wednesday).

First two rounds of GoW, I died 7 times total I think as I just couldn't get the mindset that cover was a GOOD THING. After playing with Semir on the co-op online, I picked up on it right away and it's amazing the difference of my first day, and my second day. It's like two different people playing. Gonna move up to hardcore next week(this weekend is full of work and corvette events up north so I'm booked). Game rocks though I'll be playing for awhile.

Haha You should do the multiplay on Live. Seriously, nothing is more gratifying than outflanking a team and shooting em down and then smashing their head into the ground and/ or chainsawing it off . So satisfying . I've beat the game on hardcore already. I'm goin back on casual to get all the COG tags and then I'll tackle Insane.

I wish I had your free-time to play GoW like that but alas, there's just too much on my plate going on this week(and I had to put my 19 year old cat down Thursday morning ugh). I should be on Sunday night, maybe try some live action against real opponents and see how crazy it gets.

UnholyZ06 is my tag on live. Look me up guys if you're playing sometime.

Sony sucks. Their grand history of innovation has nothing to do with their present.

Its like trying to say MBs are the greatest cars ever based on the 1986 W124. Times change and innovators can fail. Sony sucks, and so does Mercedes-Benz.

WTF, how do i pass this, anyone? And PGR 3 is pretty damned good too! Any other good games for the 360 I should be aware of?

You must not have Xbox Live. Well the Berserker is one of the easiest enemies in the game to beat. If you are having trouble with her then thats probably why you are not liking the game. Its probably proving too difficult for you. You cant kill the berserker with your lancer rifle or shotgun or grenades or any conventional weapon for that matter. You have to stand in front of the wall you want her to break through and make noise by either roadie running or just shooting at her with a gun. Dive out of the way and she'll smash through the wall. Dive through and guide her outside. Once she's outside you have to be absolutely quiet so she'll stand still long enough for you to lock on with the Hammer of Dawn. Blast her once with it and she'll turn red. Dodge her attack and be quiet and Blast her again. Voila. Defeated berserker. I really dont see how its that hard. I'm working on beating Insane difficulty and I am glad when I get to a berserker. Wait until you fight the Elite Drone's with torque bows. You'll learn hard then.

lol, I would not judge the quality of a game based on whether or not I was good at it. I could be horrible at the game yet it could still be awsome. I am having trouble with the beserker, was just asking for tips to pass it. As for Xbox live, I do have high speed internet, just have to find a way to connect my PC (which is in my basement) to my xbox which is in my room so i can start online play. Might have to get a router this week! I did have an original Xbox but never got online, but my 360 is definetly goin online.

Gears on IMAX

yes, Gears on IMAX
I find that extremely unlikely, since IMAX projectors are of the 15/70mm film format.

If you're connecting the xbox to the router directly via a lan cable, then there is nothing else you need to do with regards to the xbox. For the PC, just follow the directions that come with the kit. I highly recommend using a security key for the wireless to secure your wireless network. With an abundance of wireless internet capable products out there, it's not hard for someone to find your router and use it if it's not secured.

Hmm the easiest thing to do in my opinion is if you have 2 ethernet ports on your computer, I would recommend running the wired connection through the PC and setting that connection up as ICS and then running another ethernet cable out of your computer to the router and connect your Xbox. I'd say the cheaper and more lag free way would be to buy one of these and save yourself all of the above nonsense and about 200 big ones: http://cgi.ebay.com/NETGEAR-XE...wItem . I use this for my setup and it works miracles.

Everything I read about 360 vs ps3 is "GOW 9.6 NUFF SAID"

If Gears of War didn't exsisted, what would the 360 people be screaming? "OMG KAMEO 8.7 NUFF SAID DAWG"?

Which brings me to my next point. GoW isn't a launch title, its a bad comparison. Where do you think the PS3 titles will be in over a year? The 360s only decent title isn't even that far ahead of the PS3s launch titles...

I dunno what I'd say if Gears of War didnt existed. If it didnt exist along with proper english I'd freak. Maybe not because I'd just say: Ummm no we'd be saying Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 9.2 NUFF SAID DAWG! or if we couldnt say that we'd be saying Elder Scrolls Oblivion: 9.6 Nuff said of we'd be saying Call of Duty 2 9.0.

When will you get over this argument. You know the 360 has excellent hardware and software and is not far behind the PS3 just admit it and call it quits. Jeez

And until you've played a PS3 launch title and you know how good they look and play you cannot compare them to 360 titles period. For all you know the PS3 might look like 3 PSOne's taped together. And for that matter 360 is the only console to have non **** launch titles in years. PSOne, and 2 included.

Not to mention that if 360 cost 100 dollars more and came out a year later it would look the same or better than PS3. Sony's hardware is not as advanced as they are brainwashing you to believe. But you'll figure that out soon enough. Sony thrives on third party support which is what they dominated on last generation because the platform was easier to develop for than any other platform. This round the developers are having more fun with the 360's dev kits which will prove to be a major thorn in Sony's side for years to come. Hell the 360 is so easy to develop for Microsoft is going to sell dev software over Xbox Live and allow Live users to develop and distribute their own games. Lets see if Sony ever does that
