didn't quote anyone, i only get about 13-14 gallons in when im on E and it is a 20 gallon tank..... about 7 is as accurate a guess as i can give when its a 20 gallon tank..... i understand reserves are small but to me when its reading empty the rest is reserve.... so if 7 gallons was the reserve then her mileage on approximately 13 gallons was an average of 18 mpgs which is not bad considering highway and city/in town driving combined over the entire period of a tank of fuel.... just went purely from my experience never seen or read anything about the gallons in reserve.ldstang50 wrote:mezz I know you're quoting Richie, but 7gal is way too much for 350z 'reserve'. If I had to take a guess I would think its about 3 or maybe at most 4 gallons. With that, what the OP should do knowing she has a 20gal tank is fill up and set the tripodometer to 0. When her fuel light comes on again, fill up. At that point, fill up and record the number of gallons filled. This will tell her how many gallons she burned before the light came on, and dividing that number (like you said) into the trip odometer reading will get her gas mileage for that tank. At that point she can estimate how far she has to go until she is actually empty. Example, after driving 250mi, she fills up with 12gallons(when the light comes on)...shortly after the light came on 250/12=20.8mpg for that tank. Knowing she has about 8 gallons left or about 160 miles. So if she were to push her tank to complete empty, she could get 410mi to a tank.
ummm thats actually what I said, a combination of different things, learn to read......bud
i'm almost certain you'll find out you are finebut let us know, we're interested to hear what the outcome islucsious wrote:as soon as my gas light comes on which will be tomorrow , i will go fill her up and let you know how many litres i get in. because if the reserve is alot then i dont have to be woried about my mileage anymore..hope i can back you up.
So let me get this straight... you don't care what your efficiency is, but you DO care about how often you have to fill up? That doesn't really make sense.lucsious wrote:as soon as my gas light comes on which will be tomorrow , i will go fill her up and let you know how many litres i get in. because if the reserve is alot then i dont have to be woried about my mileage anymore..hope i can back you up.
no, she is worried. If we settle this then she can stop worrying. And I agree only calculate your MPG base on miles driven and fuel used.PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:

Just calculate your MPG based on miles driven divided by gallons used... that's what matters.
Yes, but the question was to figure if your cooling system was warming up. If it wasn't then it would be your problem.lucsious wrote:yes but ive had many cars through the winter all different kinds and they always got better miles per tank then what im getting so far.
I gas up when the fuel light comes on, and I'd only be able to put 13gal and some change.rmezz13 wrote:

Well, you would know at the very first fillup how much fuel goes in.lucsious wrote:maybe i worded that wrong, what im saying is if hes right about the reserve being alot. then im not using up as much gas as it looks if 7 gallons are left when the gas light comes on then ive only used 13 gallons instead of me thinking ive used 17 or 18 and only got 230 miles
That's odd - I routinely put in 14 or 15 gallons & I've never had the low fuel warning indicator light up.xjmxstac wrote:I gas up when the fuel light comes on, and I'd only be able to put 13gal and some change.
Yes way to many pages considering it is all over in the search.rmezz13 wrote:

You and I know exactly why...rmezz13 wrote:P.S. i can't believe this thread has made it 3 pages....
yeah every time a female enters a predominately male area, they all have something to say! The funny thing is tho, most of these guys wouldn't have the balls to approach her in person.... weird intrawebz isRare_f8 wrote:
