Mine is pulling 'hard' by 2800-3000 and at 17psi by 4000. The torque curve was a lot flater than the .86AR turbo.

And my 25R did die due to that "ledegendary OBX quality"

All in all I think it's the greatest turbo you can stick on the stock manifold. Great response and good top end HP.

I think that's how i'm gonna go. I was gonna use an external wastegate but i've heard that the stock one isnt bad. Can you give me the opinions of it. Remember I drag race so I need the boost precise and solid.

If you have the time and money I highly suggest an external Tial 38mm on the stock manifold and the .64A/R housing. That's the settup I was GOING to run before mine blew up. I think that would do a solid 380hp.

I'm thinking I wanted to get the .86 A/R housing. But I will go with the external gate. How much slower would the .64 spool? I want to make the most power with the lowest boost on pump gas.

well damn. this is a depressing thread. I didn't know your OBX manifold crapped out your turbo. And hearing how the.64 boost much sooner and only loses about 30 HP on the top end.. kinda makes me wonder if I should have gone with it... though... haha you guys will like this... I got my .84 GT25R for... 525 plus shipping. It was a one time thing through Gerrit otherwise I woulda said something.

Damn... Do you know where I can get a deal even 1/2 as good as that one? 1075 is the lowest price i've found.

The .64 will spool quicker than the .86 not slower but make less top end power.

If you are wanting to still make 350 on lower boost then you will have to go with the .86A/R.

The best price I've found is cheapturbo.com.

I've decided to go with the GT25R, I don't think it's performance is much worse than the T3/T04E, and the price is lower and it's bottom mount which I like.

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!

Everyone is gonna say how stupid this is and how I need to go fuel first, but I want to run the GT25R on my stock fuel system for now. That way I can just install the turbo and not have to do anything else yet. The fuel system is going to require getting my ECU retuned which means taking my car down, I don't want to do that yet. Anyway, what boost level should I be able to run on the stock fuel system with a GT25R? 7psi? I need to know what spring to get for my Tial wastegate.

Wow that is a good one. I am sure there is a magic formula somewhere that will tell you 14psi on a T25 will = "x" psi on the GT25R but I have not idea.

Ya, i've gotta figure that out.. Any ideas how I could know? I'd assume 10 psi or so, if so i'd go to 7-8 just incase.

Look at the compressor maps, figure out the peak volume flow of a T25 @ 14psi based on our engines demand curve, then do the same with a GT25 compressor map to find how much boost would yield the same volume flow.

Not so easy, eh? I know this isn't what you want to hear, but get the damn fuel system first...you'll be much happier in the long run.

Humm.. perhaps.. Why couldnt I just go 5psi, we KNOW that's safe. At currently one of my trubo exhaust gaskets are leaking, and it's irritating, so i'd have to have that replaced, the way I look at it is it's just as easy to replace the trubo at the same time. THEN the fuel. I don't need the T25@14psi equivalent, Even T25@10psi would be fine.

What's the difference between a top mount and a bottom mount turbo? AND could you have a top mount intercooler as well as a front mount one on the 240 (SR20DET ofcourse) or would it just be a waste of time?

top mount turbo = turbo sits above the exhaust manifoldbottom mount turbo = turbo sits below the exhaust manifold

running two intercoolers would be a total waste. not to mention increasing lag and causing a ton of pressure drop, there's really no need for that much cooling.

I have searched for almost an hour for stock T25 compressor maps. I have all the formulas already in excel, I just need the stock map. I have the one for the GT25R.

You wont find a compressor map. Garrett hasnt released it yet for some reason.

They haven't released it for a 50yr old turbo. Wow. Note that I said I need the T25 (i.e. stock redtop turbo) map. I have one for the GT2540R.

Sorry didn't mean to sound rude. Just couldn't imagine that Garrett hasn't release a map for the T25.

if you refuse to upgrade the fuel system then what is the point of even spending a grand on the GT25R????? cause its a GT25r??

your not goin to be able to tap into the turbos potenial , so do your self a favor quite being cheap ,and putting your motor at risk. go with a smaller turbo and mild set up or upgrade the fuel, ECU, and all the other things that would make that turbo worth spending that coin on.

My turbo gasket is blown and it makes my feet hot and it make a lot of irritating noise. I just want to get the turbo for now, then shortly after I’ll do the fuel stuff. I have no way of getting the ECU done; I can't take my car down for 2 months just waiting for my ECU to get back from JWT. So i'll get the trubo now, and immediately start working on the fuel.

If you've read my post this would only be temporarly. Do you think i'd spend 1700 total (turbo, ext. wastegate, install) on a turbo capable of 400hp and only run 220 through it? Belive me, i'm not.

Have you looked into Secret Services' SSPL rom tune? I believe that is who MovingViolation and some other use. I don't know what their turn around time it, but i can bet it is a hell of a lot better then JWT. I think their tune+dyno time is $650, but it seems like I heard someone get it without the dyno for $550 or something. They have don't the GT25R upgrade enough they should have the flash for that pretty well fine tuned.

I just called, and they have a program i'm looking for and can turn around in 7-10 days. Yay. So all I need is 740cc injectors, and a MAF, right? Or is there some other thing involved? Do I need rail? Anything? I plan on running the program on the stock turbo till I get the GT25R. I'm gonna order the injectors and Maf right now.
