Whats your opinion on putting it in runner 4 instead of 1?

I just turned it on last night and the EGT was reading about 850f, what would be a good idle temp?

Yeah, I'd like to hear this too.

My view was to put it on runner 1 (front of the engine) because that's the side of the fuel rail that the FPR is located on. From past experience (with other cars), it seems that the end of the fuel rail is the side more prone to running lean, therefore EGT off that cylinder tends to be a better indicator of what's up with the motor.

I'm always up to hear other peoples theories though...as everyone knows, tuning is more art than science :)

Sad day.... My company just hired a dude who has a 12 second RX7. I'm no longer the fastest. :( I've gotta get my new setup going quickly.

Okay, a broke my T25, so now i'm forced to go with the GT25R now. I'm getting it installed next week. It's gonna cost about 1900 with an external gate. (Tial 38mm). So here we go. GT25R .86 housing on a stock SR20DET (yes, stock fuel). I've got a Z32 Maf, but I've got to save a bit more before I can afford injectors and ECU. So i'll be running my GT25R@8psi for a bit. Think i'll be okay?

Do you have anything like a SAFC that will monitor MAFS voltage or injector duty cycle? That sounds to me to be the only sure way to tell if you can run 8psi.

8 sounds fine to me, but if with fuel you make just shy of 400 whp on 18psi then maybe it is too much. Based on my math skills with a lot of guessing involved I say 6psi and you will be maxing out your injectors/MAFS. Now test is out and prove me wrong.

I don't have an SAFC, but i was told by a few people that .5 bar would be fine. I'm running an external tial 38mm wastegate so the boost won't creep or spike. I'll look into which spring I'm going to get a little more. I have an EGT gauge so I'll know if i'm leaning out. But I think 6psi might be too weak. I want to at least have like 250whp. See if you can find anything else out.

Ok you guys running a GT25R with the .86 a/r. I have a very important question.

I am running a GT25R with-72lbs inj.-z32 maf-jwt ecu-greddy intercooler-greddy profec b II-3 inch exhaust w/ stock turbo elbow

My turbo has gotten laggier since I first had it. I only make 8 psi my 4500 rpm! When are you guys making 8 psi by? And my car has a lot of oil in the intercooler pipes. I might have some blown seals in my turbo causing oil to leak therefore slowing the compressor? The car is not burning it thats for sure, so its not the turbine side. I'm beginning to think it might be the valvestem seals. I really need some ideas...

Oh yeah the car runs great out of boost and doesnt smoke at idle. I dont think its blow by, because its runs so solid otherwise.

I'm getting a GT25R installed right now so I wouldnt know. But i've got a question for you. What boost doy ou think I can run a .86 A/R on stock Injectors? 7.25 psi or 5.6 psi?

You can run 8psi on stock injectors for that turbo. It should be about 250whp, which is the limit on the injectors.

Well, here's an update for you all. I just went to a topmount 50 trim T3/T4E on my SR about 2 weeks ago. I've got a Precision turbo Stage V turbine wheel, with the 50 compressor. It's mounted on the new enjuku manifold, with a 38mm tial external WG that's dumped under the car. I've got a 2.5in downpipe, flowing into the same Apexi GT spec that my 25R was going through.

The T3/T4 spools about 1,000rpm+ later (I don't hit 1.3 bar untill 5,000rpm). The settup also 'feels' slower. I'm sure this is just due to the lag, and the fact that the new settup is running super rich on my current ROM tune. The turbo has made 460+rwhp at around 20psi on Enjuku's car. I should be able to dyno tune the thing in the next few weeks (after I get the money for 740's) and I'll have some more news for you all about how it compairs on paper and in the real world (after it's been properly tunned anyhow).

im pretty sure a 3'' downpipe will free some spool earlier, but whats different from the previous enjuku kit? im guessing turbo and manifold. why did they change it?

Odds are a 3" downpipe won't do anything. The point of larger downpipes is to flow enough exhaust gas when you're using an internal wastegate. Since the enjuku kit uses an external gate, which has it's own pipe flowing the exhaust gas out from the turbine, it's not really necessary to have a huge downpipe, a 2.5" should suffice.

FWIW, I think i'm going to end up running a T3/T4 hybrid instead of a GT25. The cost ends up being the same (GT25, oil lines, custom ic pipe vs. top mount manifold, external gate, turbo, and custom downpipe and ic piping), and I think i'd rather be running a $600 turbo in case something ever breaks instead of a $1000+ turbo. In addition, I may be picking up a top mount manifold w/ external gate flange for $230 :). A t3/t4 can be had to make the power i want (~350 at the wheels) and still give comparable spool to a GT25.

I'll post in the next few days once I narrow down my choice as to just what kind of turbo i'm going to use.~matt

I was going to buy the enjuku kit a week and a half ago when I found they took it off of the site due to a new designed kit they are working on. Now I have to wait til July to get the kit after my built motor has arrived? ARRGHHH! Anyone have any other good top mount kits in mind with comparable price besides CTC? I'm tired of waiting (esp for this motor now that I finally have it).

Paul, you have the *new* enjuku manifold already? If so, how is it? Pics?

Movingviolation240, how loud is a wastegate that vents outside? I thought it was like loud! like open header loud. Is it? I'm venting mine back to the exhaust.

I definitley want to see that. They are usually called screamer pipes, and I have heard that when the wastegate is closed there is a small hum, but when the WG opens up, you better run!

You can always add a mini muffler to the pipe to quiet it down.

the wastegate isn't loud at all when it's shut. I have about 2ft of pipe on it to dump it under the car, so it's not "open header" loud when it's open either.

I do have the new enjuku kit, it's a lot simpler manifold design (no longer stainless) but it should NEVER crack. It also uses the cheaper 38mm tial WG.

I think with a smallet turbine wheel this thing would spool pretty nice. Plus I've bee talkin to Matt and I'm prettu sure the increased exhaust flow has really played hell on my engine management, so once I fix that I'm sure it will be sick.

Once we get all the bugs worked out of the kit we'll post pics and whatnot. I'm kinda waiting for Enjuku to do it, since it is their new kit afterall.

I think it's going to be a great new bullet proof turbo kit though. Can't wait to get it all tunned.

And the production kit is going to have the wastegate routed back into the exhaust. But for those of you who don't like that it shouldn't take much work at all to change it back over to an open system.

I think a pretty trick idea (which I'll probably be doing with my setup) will be to flange the downpipe on the side as well as the wastegate dump pipe, and have a section of flanged pipe bent up to mate them together. Put it on, recirculated wastegate dump, pull it off and put a plate over the downpipe flange, open wastegate dump...best of both worls ;)

What's the advantige of having the wastegate dump outside? And not back into the exhaust..

Less exhaust flow disruption, plus the gangsterness of being able to plumb it out the fender to the Honda next to you.

What he said :)

To get a bit more technical, it helps to eliminate boost creep due to the exhaust gases not being able to flow out the downpipe. Then again, if you're using too small of an external gate it can lead to way more boost creep, but that's a whole different issue.

Paul, how in hell did you get their *new* kit already? I am impatiently awaiting for such a kit like their old one (or new one with uncrackable mani!).

Because I work on their race car :)

I'm the test mule, so I get to figure out what fits and how to make everything else fit.

Now they just have to gear up to start production as soon as they get a chance to copy my downpipe and IC hotpipe.

Here is an idea of how it will look when installed. You can't see many details, but it gives you a basic idea.

Jumpin' Jimminy Crickets! That's a whole lot of clearance it gives you from the brake and power steering. Also, why is this new manifold almost uncrackable? Is it cast or something? How is clearance on a/c lines and such (if you have it). I still use my stock KA a/c compressor etc and its a must where I live.

It works with the stock SR AC system. I have AC, PS, ect all working. I didn't have to bend or re-route anything for this kit. I'll have to get some pics from the top, it is really amazing how much room it gives you to reach down under the turbo to check up on the wastegate bolts.

I think the hotpipe will have to be a little different on the S13, but it goes right through the STOCK hole on the S14 :) It makes for a really clean install.

it is not valvestem seals. they would cause the car to burn the oil. it may be a turbo seal; im not sure. pcv/breather probs are a possibility.

Thanks chris... For s&g's I checked compression in all cylinders and it came out to...#1 - 155#2 - 150#3 - 155#4 - 160

All spark plugs looked good with no fowling. I hope to a higher power is a pcv problem and not the turbo seals. But i might have to just accept the fact it might be the turbo.

What would cause the seals in a ballbearing turbo to go bad? This turbo is brand new with only approx. 2000 miles.

Hey moving, when did you see 8psi by on your gt25r, how about 14psi?
