It's a RB25DET NEO T28. I checked the compression before, I duct taped the s*** out of the bov and now it boosts...think we found the problem. Thinking the turbo might be worn out too cause sometimes it smokes, but towards the end of the drive it quit smoking.

partsco on main st is where we send all of our blocks. go by and ask them if they will do it. they just sometimes take a bit but that depends on how busy they are.

how expensive are they? I don't really wanna spend over $150 to get it turned. I wish I could find someone selling a SR20DE one or something but no luck.

tampa racing would be my guess for a sr20de. I dont know how much they would charge you just go by with it or at least tell them what it is and they should be able to give you an idea of what it would cost.

Yea I have a WTB thread on there but no luck with anything I can throw in a go. I guess my only option is to get it turned.

We are gonna replace the BOV first then see what happens with the turbo. I think he plans on rebuilding it anyway.

ok... so i need some opinions from some experienced 240 people since im a noob

Do you think its easier/cheaper to just turbo the stock KA. I was told that it is safe to 350whp as long as you do a full custom tune. I was told that people only put SAFC's on these things and forget the timing and when they boost it, it has too much timing and the motors go.

Also, who is the main nissan tuner in our area that everyone would trust their cars to?

But anways, besides tuning, do you recommend doing a swap or putting a turbo on the KA?

KATs can be bad a**. SR's are just plain cooler. And RB's a sweet if you want a nose heavy car. Just ask MJ! :p

KA/SR/CA/RB are all good choices. This has been debated for 10 years with no clear answer. Personal preference my friend.

I trust(ed) my car to myself.

Gotcha,

Im really leaning towards the turbo KA... although a 1jz in the car would be sweet... either way, im going to swap the 5speed first.

Any engine management software that anyone recommends? How is Nistune?

okay... lemme throw it down like this....

say you go to prison... you're a NA KA....

Mr. SR is going to take you in the shower, make youn loose tour man hood...

you man up... you fight with SR, still lose, but Mr. SR know's who you are now..

then enters RB26/2JZ AKA "bubba"... he pine down your "KA" and has it's way with it, and passes it around to it's higer octane friends for race fuel...

streetablility, and reliability, go SR all day, T28, 550CC injectors, and at least a rom tune, and you're at a VERY reliable daily driven 280-320whp depending on your application/mods...

me, with a KAT, i'd ALWAYS be sweating my tune... is it still good? is it safe? is it too lean? ZOMG?!?!?!?!?

RB/2JZ... well my basic concern would be "can i even afford upgrades like i can for SR's/KATs?..."

either way... choice it ultimately up to you... i've been KA... and personally, i will NEVER have anything less than a S13 SR20DET...

take your pick....

6 beers to the wind... i apologize for my grammar...

^^^Soooo, with those cirumstances, the KA is dropping the soap and the SR is taking advantage of the situation?

....just curious

lol zenki... good stuff. But the SR20 doesnt have any torque and spools turbo's later than the KA...??

So, let me ask this... which SR20 is the best to get?

The newer ones have valve timing if i recal

The car just has soooo much engine bay, it seems like a sin to put a small little 4 cyclinder in there.

If you put an RB in there your going to be wishing you had more engine bay. But that's the price you have to pay.

nay MJ, they got me a bit loose, but the LIT's i had when i got home prety much finished me off...

as for SR's having no TQ, you better go get your GED... it's all in how you build/tune it...

as for the best SR to get, get a S13 SR20DET black top, a simple head design, a s*** ton of aftermarket support, cheaper than a S14/S15, and the black tops are the newest of the S13 SR's, so they tend to have less miles on em, and less stuff fubar'd on em...
