This car will be a demo for my business. In an effort to do something fun and fresh we thought long and hard to figure out something that would meet all of our needs and catch peoples attaention at shows.

Being a big fan a VIP stuff we decided to go that route this time, with a small twist... haha The car is an Infiniti Q45, that will be powered by a single turbo 2JZ-GTE. The goal is to build a VIP car that isn't the typical "drop and wheels" deal which has become the norm among US VIP cars.

The plans are the following: 2JZ swap, 67mm turbo, Custom Air Suspension, Radisued Fenders with custom flares, Aimgain Euro Edition Aero, Work Euroline SL's etc.

Here's an idea on what we'll be doing with the fenders/inspiration behind the build:
Image

We will concentrate on getting the engine running first. If you have some doubt the car will get completed check out our last DEMO car (finished is 3 weeks, long story..lol):

So enjoy the build thread. I apologize again for the picture quality....

Getting ready to pull the factory engine:

Prep'd for paint, just needs taping. The bay will be sprayed BMW Carbon Black:

Picked up a nice 2JZ from the guys at JSpecAuto
Image

Staying true to VIP form we'll be keeping the auto trans:

These guys however will be coming off:

Intake manifold and valve covers will be getting PC'd flat black, while the coil cover will be painted BMW Carbon Black

Turbo test fit:

Lower Intake Manifold back from PC:

Cleaned the head up while the IM was off:

We will be using a Tial wastegate and BOV for this build:

More to come tonight, we'll be getting the car back from the painter this afternoon.

Thanks for checking it out guys!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a VH, and reliability or power wasn't the motivation for installing the 2JZ. It was simply an "attention grabber" as we are building the car to promote our company at shows and showcase our products.

I have personally owned several Q45's ranging from a 1990-2001 so I def have lots of respect for the platform!

Here are some pics of the painted bay:

Had to pick this up early this morning so the painter could get it out of his bay and it wouldn't be sitting out in the snow with no hood:

Once again with the crappy pics:

Just finished untaping everything, the wiring harness will be re wrapped in fresh etape shortly, and then it's time for the engine to be installed!

Love the idea.

Hate the Eurolines. Terribly played out, much like the monobloc designs...

Otherwise, I can't wait to see it!!!!

Thanks! The SL's are one of my all time favorite wheels. I had them on my S15 too.. lol

You don't see them very much in the States (Usually Hardritts, since the SL's have been discontinued for a while now), but the cars that have them generally get posted a lot. Wheels are a super opinion orienated part of the car so not everyone will like em.

Although, the wheels may change down the road, as these were just sitting around and are not the "perfect" fitment for the car as we will be running spacers on it.

congrad on thinking outside the box.
The same is true at hot rod shows V8....Blower....V8 .......Blower.........
gets very boring.

You can always see people stopping and staring at the old Dodge slant 6, or mustang with a built up straight 6 w/ 3 webbers. And the first cameros and firebirds had some 250ci straight sixs.

Like you say, you gotta attract attention. What they remember is the guy who was different.

go for it!

Just don't know what to say. Too bad you never got to drive a G50 new or at least in new condition.

Personally I would think an LS1 into a Q would be way more bad-azz than a 2JZ.. Would make a lot more sense IMO, not that I would ever do either.. but yeah, it will grab attention. I would never put a toyota motor into a Nissan, its like dating your cousin! im sure the 2JZ will be pretty easy to work on inside the huge Q engine bay, only issue I see is it fitting in there lengthwise, might have to reconfigure the radiator.

I would still have Quella if I'd bought an LS instead of replacing the VH.

I have, I had a beautiful '96 G50 that was unfortunatly totaled a few years back. It was completely stock and a great driving car.

It actually fit great with the stock radiator. The new engine mounts have already been made and the engine has been test fitted. There is a ton of room to work.

LSX's are cool engines, I just have a thing for big turbos. haha

I can dig it... For what you're doing, trying to get people's attention by the swap, even if you did a crazy VH turbo setup it probably still wouldnt get as much attention as a 2JZ.

Meh, with the price, time and effort put into that i would have just imported a 25+ year older Z from japan. Hell maybe a 252 president. Right hand drive with your little fancy bolts in the bay would grab some attention as well.

I've had several RHD cars in the past.. sure, they are cool in their own right but being 1 of 3 S15's at ashow isn't exactly "different"

This build will be cheaper than importing a car, effort is no problem it's not too bad really.. it's more fun than work.

Regardless, I like your attitude.

I've cut the s*** out of rare cars, and I've stayed "true to original" on some that weren't so rare.

There's always a critic - and most of them haven't ever built a thing. :)

Do what you do, brother - and keep us posted. I'm thinking homepage build thread?

And the auto trans is my favortie part. I don't want to shift this thing.. It's just a cruise around car, just wanna lay back, press the gass, and go. haha

Ok, We haven't done enough lately on this car. The rush became a little pointless since we will not be getting the aero in time for this season. However, we managed to get the A/C line figured out, and the new P/S lines as well as test fit the new turbo and manifold (which doesn't fit). The compressor housing hits the first runner, so we'll be using Brett Hamilton to fix this issue along with changing the wastegate flange.

We will have to use one Infiniti connection and one Toyota connection on each of these lines, then polish them :) :

Same deal with the P/S Line:

So Far:

We will have better pictures + more work done soon hopefully! Stay tuned for updates.

Pulled the engine back out to run the new brake lines. The old ABS and Traction Control system were removed simply because of how much they cluttered the engine bay.
We will be using the following brake system:

Stock Booster
Z32 1 1/16 BMC
Custom non-ABS Lines
Brembo STI Calipers (Front)
Z32 Calipers Rear
EVO Front Rotors

We got all of the lines done yesterday except one of the rear lines. I think we will end up pulling them all off and painting them black, but I'm not sure how that will turn out... anyway:

Image

Image

The tee here will be removed and painted, rubber grommets will be installed in the fender well where the lines penetrate:

Got some work done on this thing..

Reinstalled the engine, ran the fuel lines, got the brakes working (no leaks!!), mounted the new trans cooler, ran trans cooler lines, etc..

Here's a crappy pic of the PC'd Valve Covers, Intake Mani, and painted Coil Cover:
