Oceangrown,

i think you'll appreciate the room the M series gives you vs the G. i test drove a G35 and it felt too small after taking an M35 for a spin.

the M35s are pretty quick, but the M45 just seemed to have more power after I test drove both. yeah, the orange lighting is a lot old, the tail lights look too big (but you could get yourself some smoked Fuga ones like Blanco--love those things, tho' some don't), the front bumper could look better like the 08's (yeah, i got front bumper envy) but despite those few shortcomings, i LOVE my car.

i did a few things to make it more "mine" and i couldn't be happier. I like the Sport version styling more than the non-Sport version (but that's just a matter of what you like--and i still wanted the "sportier" handling vs comfort ride (although Antz is just the oppposite). i think i also like the blacked out grill too and i go back and forth about changing out the fogs to HIDs (just don't feel like doing the work)

I don't think you could go wrong with an M35, esp if $$$ is an issue, but you should test drive both and then see. you just make sure you get it inspected by an independent mechanic if you're not so inclined before you buy and try to see if you can pull up service records from a willing Infiniti dealer. a few of the M45s have had some oil consumption issues which heralded engine failures for some unlucky few--read the posts on M45s and educate yourself so you know exactly what you're getting into.

haha Blanco, I'm 25 and I am no where near maturing in general haha. I meant I was maturing in terms of the "car world." I've been into cars for a while, so there's really no wonder as to why I just want to kick back in a four door luxury sport now.

Thanks Pedsemdoc...

I think I've made up my mind that I will go with an 2008. I know I said I was going to keep my G35 for a long time because it's paid off and everything, but really...I want to keep this M45 for a long time for real..haha

A 2008 will just be nicer because it will be newer and I don't really feel like buying something thats only 2 years older than my 04 G35, so if I'm going to do this I want it to feel like a big step.

I checked out the Lexus GS 450 forums and uhh hell no..

So M45 it is, just have to sell the G35 first..

Oceangrown, it's obvious you're set in upgrading your car one way or another and let me tell you that going from an 04 G35 to an 06 M45 is a pretty good step up the ladder, nonetheless, here's my 2 cents... why dont you find the cheapest 2006 M35 you can find ($10k) buy it cash (assuming you have this much money by selling your car) and dont make any monthly payments... keep it for 2 or 3 years and then get a 2011 M which at that moment will probably around $25k-$30k... You buy this 08 right now for let's say 30 grand and 2-3 years later it's going to be 2 generations old... and probably still paying for it. GL.

Dude, M35 is not slow by any means, it's just that M45 is faster. Also you can always supercharge the 35, plus many other mods, with the '45 you're stuck with what you got.

But an M35 + supercharger = more $ than an M45
and you still wouldnt get the insane amount of low end torque that comes with a V8

Well I've been trying to post up a long an elaborate reply to help with your decision but I have been busy the last month with our newborn baby boy around the house and it looks like you have made a decision already....and a good one I might add! Just make sure you get one that comes with the advance technology package. Our cars dont have a whole lot of aftermarket products out there yet and you will be going crazy trying to add Nav., Ipod connections, dvd players or tv's... I'm just giving you some insight because I think you must have this package in order to fully experience the infiniti M! And the M45S has so much more "feel" to the road and driving experience than the M35! Just my opinion...the heavier car(keeping it solid to the ground ) with sooo much low end torque and V8 power with a sport tuned suspension is awesome!! :dblthumb:
I have had the 07 M35 adv tech and now have an '08 M45S adv. Tech plus rear dvd! The jump from the M35 premium to my M45Sport has been just perfect for me. As you know, the '08 got all the Hard drive functions the '06-'07 dont have, the new bumpers of the sport, the rear dvd, ipod connection, flash music player, lane departure "prevention", .... etc.etc.
Anyways I think you wont be dissapointed!! As far as the color goes... Good Luck finding the right package with the right color. I found my package first in different colors and decided on this one because of the rear dvd and the rare color altogether...now I love the color more than when I first bought the car....The pearl white is an awesome color choice btw!!
So welcome to the M forum @ NICOCLUB and keep us updated on your search!!

Thanks for all those details Bodyguard...

Blanco, I'm not too fond of the body type of the 2011, looks a lot like a 2010 Toyota Camry...

Hello,
Not that it really matters that much, but the Y34 (2003-2004) was actually Tested by Car & Driver and hit 60 in 5.6 Seconds and Motor Trend got 5.8 Seconds when they Reviewed it. I agree that the Hard Drive in the 2008 will cost more to update, but is really nice that you can rip CD's and use it as a giant iPod.

My youngest brother just got a 2007 Pearl White M35 with the Advanced Tech Package CPO with under 40,000 Mikes for 24,000 Dollars. It kinda hurts considering I spent 4 thousand more almost 5 years ago for my 2004 that was also a CPO. However, the Y34's were being sold new for a huge discount and were never remotely successful like the Y50 was. Either way, good luck in your search.

As I have had a G37 Loaner for 2 Weeks and will probably have it at least 2 Weeks more due to a part being Backordered due to the Tsunami, I will say the VK45 is a much smoother Engine. The G37 sounds thrashy when going up the rev range whereas the V8 is silky.
Cheers.

When you guys say "rear DVD player," you mean the DVD player that's in the center console right?

I know The Bodyguard was talking about an "advance technology" package, but is there such thing as a "technology" package or are those the same packages with just the word "advance" left out for short?

Just because it's an 08 M45 Sport, does it mean that it comes with the advance technology package?

There is a normal tech package, and an advanced tech package.

Sport doesnt mean it comes with any tech package at all, they are both still upgrades for the sport model as well as the base and AWD models.
Sport adds things like rear active stearing, blacked out headlights, different interior trim, different seat trim, aluminum pedal covers, different suspension, and probably another thing or two.

From what I hear people saying, the audio is average at best for normal and tech packages. And most don't like the audio in the advanced tech either although I think the audio is a really great system when used properly for the advanced tech package. Go put in The Matrix or something and see how amazing it is.

^The advance tech package and the tech package are the same thing except for the upgrade on the lane departure warning that on later models, the car itself steers you into the center of the lane... Eric told me this.

And who says the Audio is average in our car even with the tech package? That's preposterous, this is one of the best sound systems I've ever heard in a car... tho Bodyguard, who used to have an M without the Bose and now has one with it, says that the regular system sucks a$$, especially compared with the Bose.

I meant that the only difference in the Advanced Tech Package between the 2006 model and 2008 model was an upgrade in the lane departure system, but the actual Advanced Technology Package and Technology Package have many different features. Here, this is a diagram of all the packages and what they include for the 2008 model year which should clear it all up :yesnod:

First off, the'07 M35 I had the tech package which had everything except the rear dvd...now I have it! The base M doesn't even come with nav. a subwoofer and has very few speakers... That is the package I was refering to as being subpar!! Anyone here who ended up with a base M can vouch for me on that I'm sure. They are looking to add the nav, tv, and subwoofer to their already "one of thee best sound systems" ?? :gotme

You told me face to face that difference was huge from a M with Bose and one without it... and as far as the "one of the best sound systems" that's imo... ;)
